Distinction Mackenzie Country Hotel

Everything except the hot water situation was excellent. It was an added bonus that it snowed and the property was able to accommodate us for another night. Well stocked kitchen in which I was able to easily cook meals. TVs were available in every bedroom which the kids loved. Very comfortable couches and the house had a good supply of games to play. Will definitely stay here again.

The hot water wasn't working well. We were able to use the hot water in the shower for 1 minute before it went cold and the same for the tap in the kitchen. That was very disappointing. I am unsure whether the property had run out of gas for hot water or whether it was on a timer. To be fair we never reached out about this issue.

I like the big room we had - we got an upgrade. Plenty of space especially as we traveled as a couple. Beds were comfortable and we were very warm. Lots of parking available. It was easy to locate the hotel. We arrived after the reception was closed - the instructions and key access was easy to understand and made checking in simple.

We found the bathroom and bedroom suites themselves were very dated. The tv was advertised 'smart' but wasn't loaded with any apps. We ended up streaming from our phones instead. We had booked our stay to include breakfast which we later found out was no longer available due to staff shortage. We were refunded a little bit.

There were inexpensive food trucks only a block away. (The hotel also has a convenient buffet at their on-site restaurant but we weren't that hungry for a large meal). The property is well maintained. There was a small refrigerator in the room (but I think that is pretty standard in NZ).

The location was great, the rooms were ok. The housecleaning missed doing our room, however the front desk lady was helpful and refilled us with necessities. The shower was great. Right next to the highway and town centre.

We asked for a late check out and the reception agreed for 11AM check out. On the day of check out, we get a phone call from some other person in reception saying it was a mistake and its not a late check out, please hurry as soon as possible.

The rooms are warm and cosy and spacious and I’ve stayed there many times . It’s like coming home.

I drove 1000kms that day and just wanted to enjoy a small meal from the menu . Unfortunately they only had a buffet which is for people to who want to eat to excess. If they had had room service I could have picked a small meal from the menu but this wasn’t available either. Disappointing!

Great hotel, room was spacious and great to have a balcony with nice big opening doors. Also very clean and had everything we needed.

Would love to see hotels being more environmentally friendly with the soap, shampoos etc rather than throw away minis having dispensers in the bathrooms would be more thoughtful.

The view from my room was very beautiful. Our balcony faced a beautiful and large courtyard with a wonderful lawn where we saw the bunnies running.

The hotel is large and very beautiful, but poorly maintained. I hope that one day they will get a budget to renovate, at least the rooms and bathrooms. Could also have more chairs on the balcony. And I also missed a games room, like the big hotels have.

Beautiful location, lovely, comfortable room with a lovely view. Staff were exceptional, really friendly and helpful. Had dinner in the restaurant which was absolutely delicious, we didn't have breakfast but if dinner was anything to go by I'm sure it would have been good.

That we only booked one night!!!

Lovely clean and comfortable hotel. It was a five minute walk from the village and is a perfect location to stop over in, as part of a longer journey. Lose to a few cafes and restaurants for breakfast and dinner. The room was warm and the electric blanket was a nice touch!

It was a lil expensive but otherwise enjoyed the stay

Spacious bedroom and bathroom with bath tub. There was indoor and outdoor dining areas in the garden that we had out diner and breakfast and there great!

There was no air conditioner in the room, just a heater. It was very hot when we were there and we had to open the window and it was very noisy since the highway was very close to the hotel.
