The Lakes Motel

We were only staying here overnight so were essentially looking for somewhere quiet to sleep before heading off the next day. The room is a separate bedroom and lounge/kitchen area with a good size bathroom. There is also a pull down single bed. Beds were comfortable, although pillow selection was not so great. Kitchen was functional. Shower was great.

The door from the bedroom couldn't close because the bed was in the way, not sure how that can be fixed. It was a little noisy as it was at the front of the complex so traffic noise was evident until about 10pm and started early the next morning. Not that we minded that much as we were heading off early'ish.

On the outside, the motel looks like it's from the set of an 80s American movie but the room was lovely. I say room, it comprised a well stocked kitchenette (incl fridge), bathroom, living space and separate bedroom. Parking spot outside. Very comfortable, clean and the proprietor at the desk was very helpful and friendly. Gave us a wee bottle of milk too! Excellent location for a short walk to find restaurants, shops etc.

Cleanliness and location was superb. Cleaning staff were very accommodating and very pleasant.

The door stop in the bathroom was in a very odd place, I tripped on it twice. It was a hazard. Stepping out of bath wasn't very safe An additional handle on the wall by the towel rack wouid be helpful.

The location is great, walking distance to town centre, and a patrol station just around corner. Big spa in the room is a big bonus, my son enjoyed a spa after had a long walk at Mt cook. Warren is very nice, he gave us a small bottle of milk for coffee when we checked in.

Insulation needs to be improved. Loud noise can be heard specially during the night when neighbour turn tap on.

They had Sky connection, had good beds, had a microwave, a sit out to the the garden with chairs for you to spend a nice evening. If it is cold outside, they have nice sofa's inside facing the TV. Freindly staff and a heatpump. Really a fantastic place to stay.

To be honest there was nothing not to like there. The hotel was wholesome and fantastic.

Was a beautiful stay but booked the room because i was travelling with my mum, however the single bed was away so we had to sleep together which wasn’t ideal as only booked for the price and because it was advertised as 2 beds :) The spa didn’t work which would have been a treat but other than that it was beautiful, warm, and super clean :)

A well designed apartment with a separate bedroom. The bathroom positioned away from bedrooms was a plus. Beds were extremely comfortable with heating in bedroom and lounge areas, and the kitchen has all amenities. A spa bath with shower facing over was a delight.

There was nothing I didn't like about this apartment.

I have admit I wasn’t expecting too much as we were trying to book accommodations closer to Mount Cook but what a delight! Warmly greeted with a bottle of milk for morning coffee; huge room with big bath, comfortable bed and outdoor sitting. Easy walk to town center with a few restaurants. How charming! We would definitely stay again.

The kitchen and the room were very well equipped; the room was spacious and comfortable. Very friendly staff!

The motel is located slightly outside the town-center – but Twizel is so tiny that it takes only 5 minutes to walk there, so this isn't really an issue.

We were able to park outside our unit as the parking spaces were numbered. The unit was comfortable and had everything we needed. When we saw that a large group of cyclists were staying at the motel we knew the bed would be comfortable.

Although I had requested a walk in shower rather than a bathroom with a spa bath when making our reservation, we were allocated one with a spa. However, when I went to the office and asked if we could have a walk in shower this was done.
