Apollo Lodge Motel

Ours was an older style motel unit (different kinds of accommodation are available), but that had the benefit that older ones frequently are more spacious than newer ones. The motel is in an exceptionally convenient location for access to down-town Wellington, with plenty of eateries, bars, excellent supermarket, waterfront, Mt Victoria park/lookout, etc., in close proximity. Leaving the car at the unit and walking in the area meant no parking hassles and associated expense.

A few aspects of our unit were a little 'tired', merely as a consequence of the age of the unit, but once you got over the initial first impression, that had no significant impact on our stay there.

The very friendly and helpful staff. The lady at reception was lovely. She was very accommodating and went above and beyond to help us. The lovely housekeeping ladies were also very accommodating and unexpectedly offered and helped us carry our luggage to our room. Thank you ladies! You all deserve more money!

Street noise. People out on the street were walking up and down all night and talking and laughing. This is just one of those things and out of the motels control.

The receptionist was very welcoming friendly and helpful The room was clean and had all that we needed.. full crockery cutlery tv with Netflix should you want it! Beds and pillows very comfortable etc It was close to town .. within walking distance to shops and bus. It was quiet. Had good free wifi reception Has laundry and on-site parking Would definitely stay here again and recommend to others

After requesting a room change due to not wishing to be on the ground floor - safety concerns staff were very happy to accommodate this at no extra charge was very much appreciated As well as being able to hold our suitcases until after midday same day as checkout before heading to the airport - hugely helpful Very lovely staff, nice clean rooms, very good value for money and walking distance to town

You have a lot of space and all facilities you need. We planned for mountainbiking. The next trail is 500m away- amazing. You are in walking distance to many good restaurants. Try Ortega a bit down in same street! Sufficient parking inside the appartment area.

I am not sure if the heater is sufficient if you have really a cold day. We had it on full power and it was just sufficient.

Close to the restaurants etc, not that we used, the location CBD as I had limited mobility. Added bonus was the heated towel rail and the bathroom was spotless. The Manager was very obliging and helpful, staff were friendly. We asked the manager for a plunger which he provided. Generally the unit was okay.

No designated car parks to our unit. We went out one night and came back to no car parks. It was raining. We complained to the manager and he stayed calm and guided us into a park outside a closed down unit. Toilet seat was wobbly One corner of the unit had not been vacuumed for some time as there was a build up of dust on skirting and carpet. Curtains needed some attention, lots of hooks missing and hanging down. Blinds had mould. Front entrance outside needed sweeping as build up of leaves and cigarette butts.

The room was lovely. Nice and clean. Good amount of space for the people that travelled together. Good amenities. Great location to the city center and very friendly staff. Great value.

Pillows and bed were a bit too soft for us personally - we prefer something just a little more firm. Also it was very hot and although fans were provided, it would have been nice to have some type air-conditioning. We ended up just opening up all the windows and doors to get a bit of air-flow.

The apartments are lovely and new, nice and spacious. The bathroom is beautiful with a large tiled shower Kitchen has everything you need and good bench space Great security, parking on site Super quiet location - no traffic noise at all Really handy (easy walking distance) to the Te Papa area of town and the waterfront - lots of restaurants nearby The unit was very clean and well appointed

There was no air con and it was very hot The fan was too noisy to leave on overnight.

The location was perfect if you want to explore Wellington by foot or by car/public transport. Staff were very friendly and helpful in answering our questions and making our stay enjoyable.

Our room was spacious and clean and well away from the main road so we benefited from it being quiet. Our only minor adverse comment is that our part of the motel hadn't been fully modernised and could probably have benefited from a new coat of paint.

We enjoyed our stay at the Apollo Lodge very much! It couldn’t have been in a better location, within walking distance to dozens of great restaurants, the Te Papa museum, and the boardwalk. The staff was very friendly, and our room was restocked and tidied up daily. It was extremely convenient having an apartment-style room, stocked with dishes, a microwave, toaster, stovetop, and utensils. We would definitely recommend this place to anyone!
