Convento do Seixo Boutique Hotel & Spa

the staff makes all the difference! this hotel is super customer friendly. it sits in a great location for hiking and walking to town. it has great food, super nice staff, clean and nice massages we booked to relax. dinner was great, breakfast even better with local cheeses and super fresh bread, fresh orange juice, jams! you order in advance, so you are not wasting food with buffet-style breakfasts.

we are not a fan of carpet on the floor in the room and the styling looks a bit outdated and not in touch with the scenery. it was a convent in ruins, which was restored in 2014. we also did not spot any outlet to charge our phones.. but strange enough 2(,) usb outlets in the bathroom.. with a few tweaks this hotel could be 5 star!

the staff is very friendly. Even running the risk of not mentioning everybody, I must name Ricardo as overwhelming nice. The restaurant is also superb (and very good price for what you get). We only had dinner in the last night, but we regreted: we should have eaten there every night. I must say that my experience was even better because due to a problem in the shower of the Superior Room we had reserved, we were upgraded to a suite, and this is a marvelous room. As my wife said, staying in the suite made our experience unicque.

I expected to use the gym (I like to practice every day), but it was not availabe: a group of bike riders had reserved the gym to lodge their bikes and therefore gym was not available for guests. I believe this would not happen in other seasons, but the hotel should have informed us in advance that gym would not be available.

The Hotel is a beautifully converted convent with views from the side to the Serra das Estrelas mountains. The interior is tastefully decorated and the rooms are modern spacious quiet with en suite. The bed was comfortable. With an indoor pool and spa sauna & an outdoor pool within a lovely garden. We ate dinner here and whilst not a huge variety on the menu the food was excellent and not expensive The breakfast the following morning was the best we had had after travelling most of the week . We would definitely stay here again and cannot rate it more highly.

The hotel, which is a renovated convent from the 16th century is beautiful from the interior and exterior. The pool overlooks the valley and has a very tranquil and relaxed atmosphere. The restaurant offers fine regional food and wine options and the its staff is professional and efficient. The room is spacious and the bed is comfortable.

The spa wasn't working - No Sauna, no message services, and no salt pool available. Now, It's a SPA hotel by name. That's the main reason why I gave an 8 instead of a 9 or 10. To be fair, the hotel did communicate this after we had booked, however, this can simply not happen in a hotel that has "SPA" in its name.

The room we had was amazing and spacious, and we especially loved the large bathroom. The staff was very understanding with our travel delay, and they held our dinner reservation as well. Thank you! The breakfast selection was very good, though the breakfast area was a bit crowded when we were there. We didn’t have a lot of time at the hotel since we arrived so late and only booked one night, but we still managed to enjoy an hour out at the lovely pool before checking out. The sunrise view was spectacular! Oh, and highly recommend dinner at the restaurant. We loved the two black pork dishes we ordered!

There was some kind of child’s toy left under our bed that the cleaners missed. The breakfast room was gorgeous, but quite crowded even though they had specified times for guests to dine there. But those are small things, and we are still saying we wish that we’d been able to stay one more day.

A wonderful stay! I stayed in Convento do Seixo for my birthday and it was simply marvellous. The hotel is wonderfully decorated, with full respect for its origine as a Franciscan monastery: you can still feel the peace and spirituality of the monks who lived here for centuries. The nearby Parque do Convento is a dream, especially with the autumn leaves. The statue of Our Lady of Fatima right beside the Convento is spectacular and has an amazing panoramic view all the way to Covilha. The wellness centre is so zen snd wonderful: with different aqua massage therapies, a great sauna, a really tastefully designed indoor pool and hip lounge chairs and a really cool salt water pool. Also the bath robes are really big and comfortable. It was my first ‘floating’ experience and I Loved it! The lights go off automatically and you start to feel you’re under a starry sky. Totally zen. I had an amazing back massage, totally recommended. The food in the restaurant, set in the corner chapel is lovely. There is a lovely fire where you can sit and read a book. The breakfast is out of this world. But the best part of the Convento are the staff! Sara & Suraya of the reception surprised me with an amazing red cake for my birthday and not just that, they also sung Happy Birthday for me! What a surprise! It was so super sweet and all of the staff really make every effort to give you an unforgettable experience and they succeeded: I loved every second in the Convento do Seixo! The rooms are huge and in the morning you wake up, looking out of the same windows at the same mountains as monks have been doing seven centuries ago… which gives a deep sense of peace and serenity.

Really liked the size of the bedroom, the view, and the comfort within. Breakfast is excelent, great quality and greater variety. The food itself for the lunch and dinner menus tasted divine, one of the best I've had. The pool is of a good size but could do with a bit of heating off summer, and the available Spa services left no room for complaints, lovely.

Not many negative points to single out, the only ones that come to mind are the bathroom floor still had a couple hairs from the previous clients, and a dead bug. Also, the hotel restaurant, although 5 stars in quality doesn't have much variety.

The staff is very friendly, the building is beautiful and has a lot of potential but the administration doesn't pay enough attention to basic things.

Dirty pool, poor quality material (torn bathrobe and worn towels).. bathroom with rust. Christmas music 24/7.. and breakfast nothing special for the price paid.

Hotel was amazing. Clean, helpful staff who were genuinely nice people.

For early risers (me) it would be nice for the pool to be open earlier (currently opens at 9am)

The breakfast was incredible, and served in a very nice atmosphere. The hotel building was very interesting, and the bedrooms were really comfortable. The swimming pool and gardens were very pleasant as well.

It felt like there was shortage of staff, and not all facilities were available, unfortunately. The swimming pool's water was awfully cold!
