Luna Hotel Serra da Estrela

The breakfast was very complete and very tasty. The staff was very friendly and thoughtful. The room had a great view, was very clean and complete with small refrigerator for drinks, tv with a bunch of channels, etc...

I didn't remember to bring a eye mask, the "light" from the emergency card in the back of the door and some light from the windows (the curtains were good but didn't covered all) didn't help to get some sleep. The rigidity of the mattress was easily fixed: just sleep with the duvet below.

At the edge of Serra da Estrela, with lovely surroundings. We stayed in low season, so the price was very reasonable and a great value for the quality of the hotel. There’s a heated pool. A really nice buffet breakfast. A nice room, very clean, nice warm shower, a bidet, an extra room if you are three people.

The location is great if you are doing things in Serra da Estrela. We were using it as a base for visiting cities and villages such as Sortelha, Belmonte, Monsanto, Guarda and Trancoso. We had to climb up through Covilhã each night and descend through Covilhã every morning. It added 20 minutes to each trip. The place is great, as is the surroundings. So it was worth it.

Given some previous negative reviews, I had low expectations. But it is a nice and confortable mountain hotel, with a cozy feeling emphasised by the wood materials used in the interiors and a few fire places in the common areas. The staff is extremely nice, the breakfast was excellent and the dinner very good, featuring an excellent price/quality ratio. Great place to stay in Estrela and Penhas Douradas.

The Hotel is slightly dated, the rooms are small, some details could be renewed, but everything is well conserved. There are no signs of degradation and some older details add up to the cozy feeling mentioned before.

We stayed here for 3 nights on a motorcycle tour. The staff spoke English and were really friendly. We were given a clean and spacious room with great views. Food in the restaurant, breakfast area reasonably priced and tasty.

Jazz music played all day throughout the hotel restaurant, bar and terraces became very irritating, would have nice to have a variety of different music. Whilst dining the hotel we felt that staff were constantly watching us eat, so they could quickly take away the empty plates.

The hotel was in an excellent location with beautiful views. The room was pretty nice, not the most modern, but very clean and had the most comfortable bed. The stuff was really nice and after asking, we got upgraded to a better room with a mountain view.

The bathroom could use some renovation. The pool was pretty small with very cold water and to go in it, you need a swimming cap, which I never seen in a hotel before.

The view from the hotel is breathtaking, and we enjoyed the peacefulness and quietness of Penhas da Saúde.

It is unforgivable that the hotel does not provide a brochure of the Ski Station outlining the prices and services available and how to access it and purchase tickets. Although I understand that the hotel and the ski Station are separate businesses, the main reason for staying at this property is the station; therefore, such information is a must. The staff was very uncooperative regarding giving me even simple information about this activity.

Excellent hotel and superb value for money. Large comfortable room with a great view (when the clouds and mist parted!). Good sized and well appointed bathroom. Buffet breakfast was good. Buffet dinner at hotel was decent but not great value. Bar food is available... burgers etc. Overall, a comfortable relaxing place to stay.

Couldn't control the air con.

The hotel is really cozy. It’s very comfortable, and the rooms are super nice and with an amazing virew. Breakfast is amazing, with great variety and really tasty products. The staff is super nice everywhere, and always willing to help you with any request.

Only the pool area could be a bit improved.

the staff were amazing, special thanks to Paulo Massano and Filipe Rodriguez who were so kind to us and gave us so many tips of where to go. And the food, amazing!!!! we felt at home all week

a bit pricey for Christmas lunch as I thought it was going to be a full meal but it was just the standard buffet

We did not start our stay well however it got better with time and well service recover! Would mention the Lady at the front desk that was very professional with it but did not have a name tag :( Very good breakfast, wide variety of fresh products, local products included which was a plus, Breakfast staff very professional and helpful! Location very convenient to visit the Serra da Estrela tower and extremely good restaurants within walking distance - Varanda da Estrela and Casa do Clube! Staff polite and willing to help with any need.

Standard room presented in the pictures did not match with the room assigned, the room we checked in at first did not even had space for a second bedside table.. The pictures presented matched the upgraded room we were glad to move. Bar service extremely poor, as we arrived we asked the front desk if the bar was open to have coffee which the answer was Yes, and as we went the Bar it was goshted.. not one server within the area, waited 9 minuted with the phone buzzing constantly (Froint Desk warning guests were arriving) .. that set the tone to not use the bar neither the restaurant for the stay..
