Rooms are clean and well designed. Bathrooms a little tight but absolutely fine and beautifully decorated. Breakfast has great choice and catered for all. Hotel is situated in good location, albeit a 20 minute walk from the main centre. However you do get to look out on to Plaza de Espana from where the lifts are situated.

No spa appointments were available for during our stay which was disappointing as we had chosen this hotel for the spa too. Suggest you pre book to avoid disappointment if you want massage. Lifts are slow in the morning especially, so would recommend using the stairs to breakfast.

The pool area is fantastic. So luxurious and relaxing. The breakfast is also top notch - there is a huge array of sweet and savoury food and it’s all fresh and delicious. The location is perfect - a 5 minute walk from the Plaza de España and a leisurely, pleasant 15 minute walk to the city centre.

There are a few things to note… the lifts are a huge issue. There were only two lifts operational while we were there, they were slow and small. There were constantly residents waiting to get in, on every floor. Most people give up hope and walk the stairs. About three times a day, we had to get our key card re-activated. We know cards kept against mobile phones cause issues but this was not the case. I brought this to the attention of the reception staff and they didn’t care…

I loved my room it was so big and the bed was huge and comfortable. Breakfast was really nice so many different options and variety to choose from. Having access to the Level Lounge was truly worth it and all the staff members are just super nice and lovely even with not all able to speak fluent English, they try their best.

Some of the food options in the Level Lounge was a bit too meaty for pregnant and non meat eaters(guests) some other options would've been nice that wasn't just cheese and tomato mini rolls. When there is a conference is on in the hotel it does take forever to catch a lift but not much can be done there.

Lobby/ lounge are particularly attractive in the way it is configured with different seating arrangements. Swimming pool is a big asset with its view across to the Plaza D’Espana. Good idea to place rolled up towels on the beds to indicate their availability.There should be written advice somewhere to indicate that beds should only be taken if they are going to be used immediately. Breakfast area is also extremely attractive with a range of comfortable seating. Very useful that there is a taxi rank directly opposite the hotel.

Great hotel close to all main attractions. It has a taxi rank right outside the main door so easy to get a taxi into the centre approx 8-10mins and €8 we also walked a couple of times which is around 20 mins. Upgrading to level up is worth the money if you can with better rooms, snack/drinks served in the level up lounge which is also where breakfast is served. Good facilities in the room, mini bar, hairdryer, safe, big towels and comfortable beds. Food was good and breakfast had a good mix of hot and cold. Pool area is lovely with a bar plenty of sunbeds around the pool and is very clean.

We loved the big bed and the comfortable pillows, sheets and mattress, the view, the bathroom and the functionality of the room with sliding doors. The breakfast was super delicious and fresh. Well staffed. The room was quiet and always cleaned while we wee out if we put the clean our room sign on our door knob. Location is good, close to the beautiful Maria Luisa park and Praca d'Espana. Also the metro and good restaurants were confidently located.

Our bed slide forward if we sat up to watch TV. The plug in the bath didn't work. It had to be manually pulled up with your fingers and finger nails. The hours for breakfast is too short. It should be extended to 11h30, it felt too rushed with it being over at 10h30. The WiFi didn't work very well.

The views to the Plaza Espana are amazing. The room are comfortable and clean, the beds and the pillows like heaven. Also the breakfast is amazing. Huge. You eat like a king. It has indoor and outside areas for breakfast with sofas and comfy chairs. Nice locations for people who prefer a quiet area to stay.

The location it's far from the old center. So you need to get a taxi a lot in order to go to places. Also there are not many small shops/cafes around. Only a few restaurants and super market in 5 min walk. The pool is not as big as it looks in the photos and all the 4 days we were there it was packed with many people and families with children so it was really crowded and noisy. We didn't use it at all. The outside area with the shade is nice but when it's hot in summertime, since it's made from metal, it attracts more heat, the air doesn't pass through and you can't sit there for a long time. It would have been better if they had massive umbrellas or tents from a clothe.

It was really clean and facilities were great. Staff were very polite and helpful. Room size and bed was great and the pool was clean and in a good condition with plenty of sun loungers. Cocktail’s were made really well, espresso martinis in particular! Location was perfect, could walk to the main centre in approx 15mins.

Only two main lifts servicing all the floors so we used the stairs. Might not be easier for elderly visitors if they are on the higher levels.

The location is great with a lovely walk through the park to the old city centre. All the staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful. The large open plan reception and bar is brilliantly designed with lots of living plants and feels like a high end furniture design store. The room is thoughtfully laid out with the wardrobe/hallway and bathroom (that packs an incredible amount into a small space) acting as a buffer with the corridor. The swivel chair and footstool are fantastically comfortable as is the extra large bed and multiple pillows. I must stay that after years of travelling for business and pleasure, this was one of the most comfortable. Well done Melia.

A minor point, that had no impact on my stay, was that the wardrobe door had come off its slide and would not shut.

Super nice staff. The check-in staff additionally gave us a ton of tourist sightseeing advice. Great room.

There was construction going on, so it was loud in the lobby and the smell was of burned eletronics. One of three elevators was out of order, so it was very crowded in the elevators. But what bothered me more was the constant elevator bing noise from the broken elevator in the lobby. After staying in the lobby in the bar for 5 minutes I almost went crazy. Pool opening hours, 11-20. At 20.00 it is still day and the staff closes up the pool? Weird. Also no morning swim since the pool opens at 11.
