Hotel De Nara-SHA Extra Plus

Situated in the south west corner of the old city. Very quiet and safe to walk anywhere at night. Hotel was clean and outside my ground floor room was a pond with several dozen coy carp. Excellent and helpful staff. My room was kept well stocked with bottled water (free) and coffee sachets. Reception sorted me out with some trips. Plenty restaurants within walking distance, some of which are very good.

Just one minor warning which is that if you chose to sit out at night then be well oiled up with mosquito spray. I wasn’t and it only took a few minutes to discover I was their preferred meal that evening.

Well-appointed, comfortable rooms with strong WiFi signal. Decent, simple breakfast to get the day starred. Overall, a great property for the money.

VERY noisy upstairs guests my 2nd night...got NO sleep.

The lady on reception was incredible. She was very helpful, offered advice when looking to book excursions and was always available to provide support if we had questions. The pool was quiet which was nice. There was a small, friendly bar opposite who produced lovely food.

Although I know it is if no fault of the hotel, there is a currently a nightclub behind the hotel that is incredibly loud with lots of bass. During our stay, it would begin around 11pm and continue on through the night until around 2:30am. Even ear plugs didn’t provide help.

Big room with huge bed, plus it has everything I needed. It’s not very far from the Thapae gate and several restaurants. It is in a safe location and I walked around the Old City and the huge night markets on the opposite side of the wall/canal the whole time I was there. Laundry was cheap and I got it the same day. i did not try their breakfast, but there’s a couple of 7/11 no too far where I get a light breakfast and snacks. I just had the room cleaned once, but I’ve seen how the housekeeping lady was thorough in cleaning the other rooms. Tour to Chiang Rai for 1 person to join a small group was possible. There are bars around playing loud music late at night so I asked for a quiet room - I could still hear the noise but not that much and I was still able to sleep.

location was perfect. all on walking distance. the room was spacious.

the start was in a room on the third floor. that was terrible because there is a disco next to the hotel. the sound was a very deep and hard bass until 4 in the morning. I can only blame myself because now i have seen it in the references. if i know i would not have booked it. Because I would stay there for more days they gave me a room in the first floor, that was much better. So if you sleep light this hotel is maybe not the place for you

Great location in the old city. Accommodative and friendly staff help you with your requests and can advise tours and excursions. Cozy room. Nice swimming pool at the ground floor. Breakfasts are good enough. Every morning you can choose one of three sets and there's a small buffet as well.

There's a noisy bar by the hotel (loud music and guests of the bar). Music was stopped exactly at 3 a.m. every night! If you want to sleep well you need the user earplugs.

First and foremost, the staff was some of the friendliest, and authentically so, Ive ever met. They always smiled and greeted us, and were super helpful in every possible way. They did everything possible to help us feel comfortable. We were allowed to leave our backpacks there before the room was ready and after checkout, since we arrived very early from bangkok, and our train back was in the evening. They made sure that we still had a full breakfast even though we're both vegetarian, and they even allowed us to have breakfast 20 minutes earlier than usual, since our tours occasionally had an early pickup, before the usual breakfast time. The room service every day was super thorough, they always filled up our fridge with a couple of water bottle, refilled toilet paper and even capped off the included shampoo and shower gel. They also have a paid, but super cheap, same day laundry and show cleaning service, both of which we used and were super happy with. The staff also helped manage a couple of bookings for us via the telephone since we didnt have a thai sim card!

Absolutely nothing!

The staff are friendly and helpful, the rooms were clean and the water was warm. I'd read a few reviews about the nightclub behind being untolerable however I wasn't bothered by it at all and I was in room 307 at the back, closest to the club. There was faint bass from approx 11pm to early hours but the faint noise just put me to sleep. I walked to the night bizarre markets and it was pretty close, maybe 1km each way.

If I had to pick something it's that because it's in a lane, taxis etc aren't right outside the hotel but reception will help or if you walk to the end of the lane there are some tuk tuks there.

Great location, really clean, good facilities and helpful staff. Excellent base to explore Chiang Mai and the surrounding area. Especially liked the pool and the outdoor shared balcony. We didn't hear any noise from the club, but stayed Sunday-Wednesday so probably the quietest nights! Really good value for money (although it did look like we had a good deal through booking.com of about 1/3 of the usual price)

There was no bar or other communal area, but there are plenty close by so not a problem at all.
