Modoc Inn

For the price point I didn't have many expectations but was impressed with the appearance of my room. The bathroom looked nice and updated and there was a fridge and microwave. The room also had a great A/C unit. The staff were so friendly and helpful and overall I was satisfied with my stay. I also love that this hotel is dog friendly, and I was impressed that my room seemed pretty clean despite this policy- some pet friendly hotel rooms really smell!

My biggest concerns were with the bed and the door to the room. The door had a large gap at the bottom which allowed insects and outside smoking smells to easily enter the room. I came during a mild time of year, but I suspect that this gap would create larger issues during the hot or cold seasons. The bed was clean, but extremely hard, to the point that I had a lot of difficulty sleeping.

I woke up late and did not participate in the breakfast. Heidi was fast and efficient at check in time. Heidi was also helpful with information on local restaurants recommendations and events. The ice machine was working great with plenty of ice, I was even welcome to fill my ice chest !! I have found my new favorite Motel in Alturas CA. It is called the Modoc Inn ! Thank you Heidi for such great customer service.

Location for me was perfect. Quiet neighborhood yet close to store/gas station/highway 395. Room very clean, awesome air conditioner, friendly and accommodating service. It perfectly met my needs! Will stay next year also.

The only thing I didn't like was the shower head in shower. Just not my favorite kind where it sends out small streams and if you fix it to not do that, then it comes down a little sharply. Not my favorite but still able to take nice shower, wash hair, etc.

Smelled very nice when we went in the room. Bed was great, good TV, very quiet and air conditioning was comfortable.

Room is old and needs some renovation, would like to see a Bible in the room so we can do our morning study before leaving.

They staff was beyond accommodating, letting us check in at a much later than normal time. And being available for early check out as well. They were very polite and kind. The rooms were comfortable, clean and quiet, just what we needed after our very long drive. And the coffee and snack made the rest of our trip easy to start the next morning.

Really the only issues I had was the price, which was actually pretty reasonable considering the area and the time of our arrival. And the soap dispensers in the shower were lacking.

The room had been nicely updated, with a contemporary bathroom and super comfortable bedding. The fridge and microwave were a great size. It was really nice to have some light breakfast items available in the main office. Fantastic value.

It's a budget motel, and it wasn't much to look at from the outside. But hey, we spent most of our time inside the room, so the exterior aesthetics didn't bother us!

Can be difficult to find a parking space because small lot is crowded with trucks and vans but residents found and held one for us. Tried to book for our return trip a week later but no vacancy!

Great staff, super clean, homey feeling in all rooms with the decor. The very best thing they have is full size Egyptian cotton towels for everyone staying in your room. You usually never see that in your standard motel room stays. There are full size stoves and refrigerators in some of the rooms if you need an extended stay room. All rooms have fridges, microwaves, and coffee makers that come stocked with coffee, cups, stirrers, and cream and sugar. In the office, there is also coffee, teas, hot water, cocoa, and cereals, danishes, and oatmeal to choose from for breakfast included with your stay. I think there is a laundry facility available too. Very quiet and friendly people. I highly recommend that you come stay here if you are in Alturas. They treat you very well and you won't regret staying here.

The staff is so accommodating and lovely. This motel is exactly what it needs to be. It's cheap, they let you check in at any time of day, and it's got a bed and a shower.

Newly renovated and cute! I think the bathroom was my favorite part. The lady that runs it is sweet as can be. There was Direct TV in the room so we could still watch our favorite sports team win (Go Ducks!) Everything worked perfectly.

Bed was a little firm but that is just my personal preference.
