Baxter Park Inn

We only stayed one night. We hiked two days in Baxter State Park, so we were late to check-in and very early to check out the next day. The hotel was a good place for the family to rest. The staff was excellent and very helpful with several of our requests or needs. One example was the fact we would be checking out before the morning breakfast offered opened. So the night before, they opened the breakfast room to allow us to get breakfast items that we could heat in our room's microwave before heading back to Baxter for a second day of hiking.

This was a large, comfortable room on the second floor in the back of the hotel. It had lots of lights. There weren't a lot of outlets, but there was a surge protector we could use. The room included a table with two chairs, a microwave and a fairly big fridge. The bathroom was large and clean. Not all hotels are offering housekeeping on multiple night stays during Covid, but this one did. The included cold breakfast was very good and included yogurts, cereals and fresh fruit. There is a Hannaford grocery store nearby if you want to pick up food before going into Baxter State Park (advised!). The hotel has a laundry you can use and will provide both change and detergent at the front desk. The hotel is also home to 3 (?) cats who wander about the lobby.

We were happy with our room. I would advise folks not to stay in a front-facing room because all the cars park there and you will probably get a lot of headlights in your window if you're on the ground floor.

A very warm, inviting, homey place made special by three rescued feline "greeters" in the lobby. Decent coffee, simple, cold breakfast, but enough to get started before hitting the trails. A reasonable stay for a reasonable price and very close to places to eat and of course, the gorgeous scenery. Comfy bed. Kudos to management for being rescue-minded.

WIFI was abysmal, and more so when everyone was there it was basically unuseable. So, if you plan to work a bit from the inn as we did, it likely isn't a good plan. Enforced vacation time, consider it. Cell service in Millinocket was acceptable enough to get a call out though. We stayed in a kng room, but the bed was so close to one wall that anyone plus sized would not have made it down the alley. No night stand on that side if you need your glasses nearby. Minor issues, though.

Staff were really friendly and helpful. Location was good for Baxter State Park. There was a pool, small, but heated which I used. There was also a laundromat with washer and dryer. Staff were helpful in providing change to run it. Everything was clean. Coffee maker, hairdryer, fridge, microwave and iron all provided. Hangers in the hanging area.

The worst thing was the light. During the day it was a nice bright room with lots of light. But at night the lights were so dim it was impossible to see. I tried dragging the standard lamp over to the table but it wasn’t much good. Ended up eating dinner with a pillow on the toilet in the bathroom where the light was fine. Only other issue was some of the grout in the bathroom near the door and the bath was rather ugly.

Easy to find, comfortable dining room with the morning news on television. You could have hot coffee, cereal, oatmeal, English muffins, bananas, and yogurt - just right :-)

No shower curtain (not that big of a deal), no view except a parking lot, (but that's not what was advertised), so again no big deal. They DID have a pool and a dry sauna but didn't we get a chance to use them. The front desk gal was super friendly, helpful, and accommodating!

Cats greeted me at the door, and you can connect your own streaming apps to the tv and not pay insane hotel prices to watch one thing. The bed was comfortable, and the room was clean

There is nothing I didn't like

I came to the Baxter Park Inn to climb Katahdin and explore Baxter State Park. The Inn is perfectly situated as a gateway, and the facility, although old, is comfortable, quiet, and very enjoyable.

My only complaint, and it is minor, is that the beds are pretty hard. Single mattress type, and after climbing Katahdin twice in two day, the bed was a little unforgiving!

Great, friendly staff that are very helpful to tourists and accommodating. Large, spacious breakfast room, plenty of seating.

Really, there is not really any complaints to be made here. I mean, some aspects of the facility are dated in appearance and the parking lot could use some repair, but it’s not a deterrent from staying there. I had a good experience.

Location to Baxter S. P. & complimentary breakfast. Staff were friendly & helpful.

Maid service stopped midway through stay; however, we understand that they are having difficulty hiring ppl, b/c ppl are making more $ staying home (w/ unemployment) than working. We left a larger than usual maid tip though, to help reward ppl for working.
