Quality Inn & Suites Houghton

The breakfast was just right. Lots of options without going too overboard. The woman working on Sunday, August 21st in the breakfast area was fantastic. She had things kept hot and stocked before you realized they were going empty.

Parking! This isn't the hotel's fault necessarily. They have to plan for parking to accommodate their averages not the extremes. We arrived late on Friday and all three lots were full. Ended up parking in the lot under the bridge and thankfully my vehicle was not towed. The second night we made sure my vehicle was in the lot and did some extra walking to keep it there.

Great location in town, within walking distance to everything and university. the rooms at +500 level are the best! we’ve stayed multiple times since on lower level and they’re still the motel rooms. the upper level rooms is more like a hotel, large and airy, comfortable and great view of the bridge! staff very nice and bed comfortable. one of the few locations that allow dogs.

parking is limited and very challenging, especially if you have a small trailer, bike rake or other thing on the hitch of your car. you need to remove this separately. still expensive for what you get.

The rooms were comfortable and clean. They we able to accommodate our 2 dogs as well. The breakfast food was average for hotels of this type. What sets this place apart, is the lovely woman who sets up the food, refills your coffee and juice, and generally makes you feel special! Whatever the hotel is paying her, it probably isn’t enough. She is a gem. I would definitely stay here again. The desk clerk that checked us in was very nice as well.

The price. A little on the high side for the type of hotel.

We liked the location, in walking distance to the restaurants and the waterfront. The hotel provided coffee, tea, water and cookies for its guests in the lobby area, which was very nice. Our room had a nice view of the Portage Lake Lift Bridge and the lake. The room was spacious and it had a sitting area. We liked the little nook with counter space and additional sink where things were provided to make coffee and tea. The bathroom was also a good size with plenty of towels. As requested the room was on the higher floor, actually 6th and it was very quiet around. We were able to get a goodnight sleep. The breakfast room was very close to us on the 4th floor and there was a nice variety of items. However, the best part of the breakfast was the Lady in Charge, who called herself a Finlander. She was super nice and friendly and made you feel like you had breakfast in her own home. She walked around offering extra bacon, muffins and drinks. Amazing lady who is a keeper and deserves a raise.

Nothing in particular. The only thing it could be that we were not aware at first that there was an additional parking on the higher level, which was much closer to our room on the 6th floor. The elevator goes only to the 4th floor and then you have to take stairs. We could have reparked but we didn’t. Overall it wasn’t too bad because we didn’t have too much luggage to carry.

Room was very clean. Bed was very comfortable. Room was very quiet. Right downtown so walking distance to numerous restaurants, stores, and coffee shops. Also very convenient to drive over the bridge to hwy 41 to start up the peninsula.

We didn't need the elevator, but it was not working and the breakfast was on the fourth floor. There was nothing we did not like about the hotel. We would recommend staying here.

Donna, in the Breakfast Room, made our stay memorable! The breakfasts, themselves, were good, but unexceptional. However, Donna brightened our day from the moment we entered the room by being pleasant, attentive and helpful. Nothing was ever lacking for breakfast, despite full tables and hungry guests. We were sooo impressed. Thank you, again, Donna!

It was very nice and the staff Were very friendly and the food for breakfast was really good!

My room was nice but I did not like the location Where am I room was it was by the entrance door where everybody was coming in and out through the night and it was loud.

The pool with sauna was excellent. The location for driving in the area was excellent. The breakfast was GREAT as this was my first post pandemic real prepared food (eggs and meat), cereals, breads and fruit included breakfast. The breakfast room lady was very nice, helpful and informative. A real asset. Great view from the 6th flr.

Room was a little noisy. The hotel was completely full.

Breakfast was great nice had waffles & especially omlettes

Not enough wash cloths tissues or toilet paper ran out of all by end of 1st evening or morninghad to take napkins from breakfast area

Location

Parking was a challenge (always has been). Beds were uncomfortable. I’m not sure why the owners would update the property and not the mattresses. Ours had a big dip in the middle. That aside, the other updates are big improvements to the facility. The overhead lighting on the hallways is pretty dim. Not a huge deal but still a little perplexing given the other significant updates to o the property.
