The ROOM was VERY spacious with an overhead fan, high ceilings and a large bathroom. The beds were comfortable, the windows opened for fresh air, and the decor / pictures enhanced the historic nature of the hotel. The RESTAURANT, bar, and café' food and drinks were delicious and perfectly prepared, with an engaging menu and a nice variety of selections without trying to overdo it. The STAFF was delightful, friendly and attentive.

The weather was well below freezing and the street sidewalks icy. No fault of the hotel but as such, we didn't get to explore the quaint town or adjacent park, as we would have liked. Also we were looking forward to checking out the local hot springs but were so disappointed by the reviews, that we passed on that excursion. Again unrelated to the hotel, but the college that manages the hot springs and the local community would be well served to charge a fee and keep this wonderful hot springs resource maintained to incentivize future visits.

This hotel has so much history. It's like a living museum. Walking around and reading about who stayed in which rooms and which movies were filmed there is so wonderful. The rooms are setup in a way that you can tell there's a lot of love poured into the room arrangement. The restaurant has wonderful food as well and the coffee bar is modern and has great drinks. The rooms are comfortable and charming but this is an old hotel with some modern updates so things like the AC don't work great. The toilet flushes slow and the tub drains slow but these are things to be expected. Don't hesitate to stay here.

The pillows on the bed are small and flat. The room wasn't as clean as we'd hoped it could be. It didn't look like it had been vacuumed before we arrived. Lighting the bathroom and vanity area was really dim and could be fixed easily with some LED bulbs.

The location was perfect, great AC, shower was excellent, the staff is super friendly. Two eating establishments within the hotel which is very convenient. There is a cute shop by check in with Talavera pottery and other cool Mexican art at very reasonable prices. The hotel is full of books available for borrowing. It’s a really nice touch. We’ve already booked a return in August.

Only thing that kept this from being 10s across the board was that the room was quite bright at night. Darker curtains would have been great. Also requested an offbeat option for our room and had no reply, request was not fulfilled. :-(

Room very nice. The food in the restaurant was quite good -dinner of chicken piccata and salad very nice, dessert too. The shampoo and soap nice quality, I like very much. Desk clerk very helpful and courteous. I have been there many timesand it is similarly nice.

The chair at the desk had some sticky substance on the seat and I cleaned it with a wet towel. The throw rug was frayed and needed to be trimmed. The toilet bowl needed some deeper cleaning, maybe with some clorox. Entry door to hotel opens over entry steps which is hazardous. I was with friends who were in other rooms on 2nd floor and the heat and a/c apparently were not operational. This was April 13-15, 2023.

The building had a lot of character, provides history of the place. There are restaurants onsite and a coffee shop with pastries. They also have a gift shop with a nice selection.

I was traveling with my mom who has mobility issues and uses a walker, some of the areas, especially in the parking lot, were a little tough to navigate. The restaurant hours weren't accurate, we weren't able to get breakfast in the morning as the restaurant was not open. I understand they were having some staffing issues, so this hopefully isn't anyone else's experience.

I have stayed at this old historic before. The hotel itself is beautifully restored. The restaurant is excellent as is the saloon. The staff are friendly and helpful. The location is on the plaza overlooking a park surrounded by antique stores, local restarants and bars. If you like hotels with character, class and the flavor of New Mexico, this hotel fills the bill!

The only downside was that the ice machine on our floor did not have ice for the two days we were there. This was not a problem the first time I stayed here for a week.

Kudos to the woman at the front desk, Venessa..I had made my reservation for the wrong date. Booking.com.'s AI customer service is a joke, so I was relying on the front desk to help change to the correct date. I was frustrated as I explained my situation, and Venessa's customer service skills put me at ease as she corrected my booking error in a few minutes. My assigned room had a problem with a jammed open window, so she assigned a different room immediately. She is amazing. Give her a raise!

The restaurant menu should reflect local flavors and dishes.

The property is gorgeous, the room I was in was huge and had 12 ft. ceilings. The staff was exceptional, as were the dinner and drinks I enjoyed. I could not recommend this place highly enough unless a person really needs good A/C.

Understandably, the old hotel is air-conditioning challenged. My room had A/C but it was pretty ineffective. I think it got down to 74 degrees at some point in the night but that's not cool enough for me. Certainly, it's hard to cool 12 ft. high rooms! People traveling in the cooler months should be just fine.

Ambiance was over the top- I was transported back 150 yrs to the Wild West. It's no wonder so many films have included this iconic landmark.

Pet peeve- I need coffee to get going in the morning. To have a sign that says: " coffee is available 5-7am to our guests" and to place a prepared sign saying "we're out of coffee" before 6:20am is pretty cheap for such a luxurious feeling hotel. Also, they have known problems with guests connecting to wifi. I had to ask for the IP address in order to connect. Most folks would have given up trying to connect. Needs fixing.

The hotel is charming. A nice place to stay. A few block from the hotel is a river walk for anyone wanting to do a walk. I had breakfast in the hotel and it was delicious.

The hotel does not have designated parking. You find a place on the street to park. I was able to find a place to park on the street. The staff said there are also some spots in the back of the hotel. Coffee is not available in the room. Coffee is available in the lobby from 5 am to 7 am. Those are minor issues. I would definitely stay at the hotel again but think customers should know about the parking ahead of time so they are not expecting a hotel parking lot.
