Ma Margarets House Bed and Breakfast

Stayed two nights and the breakfasts were the best that we have ever had on the road and were served elegantly. The location was a short drive to good restaurants and perfect for anyone doing genealogy for Northumberland county as it is close to Heathsville where records are located. Ma Margaret’s House is historic, romantic, and furnished beautifully. The owner, Alva Jackson, could not have been nicer. As a guest, you feel the love and care that she has put into remaking her grandma’s house into the wonderful bed and breakfast that it is today, and my husband felt the same way. We can’t wait to go back!!!n

My husband and I spent our 6th wedding anniversary at Ma Margaret's! Our experience was amazing. Ms. Alva was most hospitable and even surprised us with a lovely token. The home was lovely, quaint and well-maintained, for exception of a few spiderwebs on the outside entrance way. As someone with aracnaphobia, I was only able to walk in griping my hubby. The breakfast was excellent, savory and fulfilling. I loved how clean the rooms were and the accommodations were all comfortable and welcoming. Thank you again for a positively memorable stay!

Breakfast the first day was awesome! However, on the second day, because of the limited breakfast hours, we were unable to partake, due to having to arrive at the airport.

We originally reserved a room with a king bed. Because a family was coming, we were transferred to a "suite" with a queen bed and, supposedly, were to get a $100 refund. I'm not sure we ever received that. Also, the "suite" was quite small.

Alva is a lovely host. The breakfast each morning was a.maz.ing!! We had to head out early one morning and she packed it to go. Our room was cozy and perfectly adequate for our needs. Rooms have individual climate controls. Would certainly not hesitate to stay here again!!

Not a lot of common space indoors if you were here with a large group and wanted to socialize, but as a couple, we had lovely conversations in the morning with another couple also staying.

Beautiful setting outside and inside! Furnished with gorgeous and comfortable pieces. Spectacular customized breakfast for special dietary requirement.

Wish we had more time to stay. It was like we were being hosted by wonderful friends.

Great Breakfast, This was a surprise for my girl friend. Ms. Alva the owner is just wonderful... THANK YOU and Ms. Queen. This is an open arms place. LOVE is in the air. Everyone we met were saying they were coming back . Yes ,we are with friends.

All the rooms were occupied yet we did not hear another person until we came down for breakfast. The food and presentation were phenomenal! We had a delightful conversation with the other guests. Our visit was very peaceful and relaxing.

The house and grounds were lovely and in a perfect location for our day cruise to Tangier Island. The breakfast was to die for! As a former restraurant manager I was impressed with the plating, excellent cooking & service.

Breakfasts were awesome! Great variety, quality, taste. No complaints at all.

We could not figure out the TV; also, the width of the room near the bed was very narrow making it a bit awkward.

The whole visit! From the comfortable room to the front porch where we sat and sipped wine to the amazing breakfast it was perfect! Alva was so kind and considerate. We had a set breakfast time and she was happy to provide us with vegetarian breakfasts. The food was so delicious and refreshing. A very relaxing space, you feel right at home. She takes care to make sure that the details are taken care of. I love this B & B.

I loved everything about this place! It was absolutely the best stay. Great food and even a spot to grab a water, coffee, hot chocolate, or a sweet treat. I can't say there was anything needed to make this a better stay.
