Island Inn & Suites, Ascend Hotel Collection

You stay here for the incredible view and the tranquillity. Hotel is located right on the water. Rooms are larger than most places, including a generous bathroom. King bed (had 4 small pillows) was VERY comfortable. Balcony with Adirondack chairs and plantation shutters in every room. Several homey touches throughout but could use some updates. This was our first time visiting and its truly a hidden gem tucked away. Convenient seafood restaurant & bar, Ruddy Duck, with deck seating right next door (try the seafood flatbread!). Having Perfect weather for a quick getaway was a bonus when it was forecasted to storm. Bikes are available to tour the island. Small town, great for a day or weekend trip. Overall decent value and would come back, especially if theres a great deal in the off season.

The staff attitudes left a lot to be desired. Breakfast was very basic, continental style. For the price it be nice to have some eggs or protein included instead of cheap, carb city (granola bars, waffles, stale banana bread, cheerios and bland coffee)

The unique setting is really incredible. We liked the room and can see there have been recent updates. Loved the mini kitchen area and separate room areas. Our room was mostly great. Extended pier lets you venture to what feels like the middle of the bay. Awesome restaurant right next door.

The smoking situation and firepit/patio area. I always feel a businesses employees/guests should have designated outdoor smoking areas. And right at the front door is not one of them. Theres a side door they could use. Firepit/patio area is overgrown with weeds around and growing up thru all the pavers. Cigarette buuts GALORE, waiting for the next storm to blow them all in the ocean. And nothing for smokers to properly dispose of them. Such a shame to have the waterfront views in a natural habitat yet feel like your sitting in a wasteland area. Please get a weedwacker. Lastly, Lots of burned out litebulbs in the room.

This is a beautiful location. The value was excellent and the room was comfortable and clean. I love the views from our room. Loved the balcony.

There were no curtains in the room and the shutters would not close in our room. I had to put a blanket up to keep the early morning sun off of my husband's face.

The view from the balcony was 100% AMAZING every single day. The staff (especially Kim) went over and above to be friendly and accommodating in many ways. Not a lot of TV channels but what was available for viewing was nice.

A few things in the room were broken. The folding blinds on the sliding glass door was the biggie, the lamp by the main phone, the phone cord in the bedroom, and upon arriving, the cart for luggage transfer was broken, plus I was disappointed that there was no handicap (main door) buttons for easy access to wheelchairs.

The staff is friendly and helpful. The location of the Inn is beautiful and peaceful. Rooms are always clean.

After 3 visits I am noticing it needs some small repairs. Lights out, toilet keeps clogging, bifold doors at patio doors are broken. Nothing major but I needed to request a room change this visit and the staff helped me.

The location was supreme! The desk staff from check in to check out was personable and informative. Seclusion away from the hustle and bustle, very quiet and relaxing. The AC was phenomenal!!!!👍🏻👍🏻 Direct tv was great!

Adirondack chair on balcony has a broken foot rest. Spider webs everywhere, something like a stalagmite growing in freezer. Stains on couch.

everything about this hotel was super nice! It is a quiet and peaceful place on the water and the rooms are spacious with a beautiful view of the water with a balcony which I love. Our stay included free breakfast which is also a plus!

The one subtle thing I didn’t like was that there were a couple of stains on the white sheets. The sheets were definitely clean, but while staying somewhere, super white sheets are a must

We have been coming here for quick getaways and peace and quiet since 2017. Never had a bad experience. The staff is so personable and always make sure your needs are met. The pier side is our favorite with a perfect view of the sunrise. Watching the birds fish or just enjoying the sound of the waves. Perfect!!!

Location, price, comfortable,1 very friendly staff member which was very accommodating to our needs, continental breakfast 😋 accommodations, restaurant/bar next door, if you love being near water excellent spot.

The cable wasn't working in room but they were willing to switch our room so everything was good.. There was no garbage cans around the building or in the garage.

The hotel was in a remote area and that was a big plus. The drives are scenic and with the nearby lighthouse and easy drive to St. Mary’s City, college and Point Lookout State Park, it is a winner!

We liked everything! The room and view and price was exceptional. This place is a hidden gem on our trip.
