Quality Inn Beckley

Very clean room. Breakfast was really great when in comparison to other accommodations at different facilities. Breakfast was buffet style, although not a large buffet but the following were available: Coffee, tea, apple juice, orange juice, Danish, bagels, muffins, biscuits, scrambled eggs, sausage, make-your-own waffles (chocolate and plain), sugar-free syrup (rarely offered at many hotels), regular syrup, fruit apples, and bananas (at the time we were there). Yogurt, peanut butter, cream cheese, various jellies, instant oatmeal and cold cereals. We can't remember anything else and am sure that I am forgetting something, but this will give you an idea. * Room, bath, floors, desktop, dressers all clean. Microwave / refrigerator in the room were clean as well. I so appreciated this! * Check-in and out was easy and we had an enjoyable and quiet evening.

The king-size bed was NOT kingsized. I would say that since I could lay across and my feet were over the edge that it was more of a full/queen-sized bed as I am only 5'5". While not a king-sized bed as advertised, it was still comfortable with clean crisp white sheets. I recommend tea bags to go along with the coffee in the room. Almond milk. Just plain unsweetened almond milk would have been nice to have. Not everyone can drink dairy milk.

Location was good. We requested another pillow because we had 3 small square pillows and they told us they didn’t have any extras to give out. She did not even try to check. In the morning when we went to take our shower, we realized we didn’t have any soap to use. We followed workers into the hotel and I heard one of them say they got a whole box of soap, but we didn’t have any in our room. The breakfast was from 6 - 9. We got there at 8 and there was a lot of empty food. The regular coffee was empty. All the tables were dirty and no one was cleaning them off.

The restaurant that is attached to the hotel, apparently is one of the two restaurants in the entire state of Virginia, that you can smoke in. Yes, believe it or not everybody in the bar/restaurant is smoking. So if you’re not a smoker, don’t be hanging out there, but the staff in there was nice and friendly, it’s just more of a smoker bar that’s all…

I don’t usually stay at a Quality Inn but we needed a hotel that was pet friendly. The hotel lobby was neat and tidy and the front desk clerk was very pleasant even though she was busy with check-ins and working alone, and she made sure we had adjoining rooms. The room was clean except for a stain on the carpet and the beds were comfortable. The on site restaurant was a bonus and the food was very good. We would have gone to the bar but it was a ‘smoking allowed’ bar, one of only two in the state (!) so the smoky room was a turn off for us.

The convenience of the restaurant on-site. After a long drive, not having to look for a place to have dinner was great. Staff was very friendly.

Had requested a room with a roll in shower as I was recovering from knee surgery and when we arrived one was not available. Stepping into the tub and not having any grab bars to hold onto made taking a shower not only very difficult but also dangerous.

I would like to thank the cook who provides the morning breakfast, he is an older gentleman who does an excellent job providing a hot meal to your guest before we hit the road. You're blessed to have an employee like this on your staff.

There are many contractors that stay at this hotel, after a hard day they like to unwind with a few beverages and some dope which tends to be a little overwhelming and noisy.

The rooms were clean, plenty of towels and hot water. The breakfast was good and had to go items and a waffle station. We were some of the last to get breakfast and get moving as this hotel is more of a stop over than a destination and the staff weren’t in a rush about us getting some food before we left. We didn’t get to go in the pool because it was storming at night but it is huge and they were on top of cleaning the storm debris out of it in the morning.

Parking gets a little hard to find at night if the place sells out.

Our favorites were the warm, friendly and accommodating staff at the front desk as well as the only waitress at Morgan's Restaurant. She was swamped with customers every night we were there but she was warm, friendly and accommodating every time. She was just wonderful and her husband Jay was an excellent cook. Every night the food was hot, tasty and perfectly cooked. The menu had a nice selection of different items so there was something for everyone.

Unfortunately, it was extremely noisy out in the hall at nights with people talking loudly and slamming doors. We also had a couple of noisy neighbors next door that talked too loud in their room.

Overall, the entire family was impressed by the friendly staff. The breakfast was a great value addition. The pool was good size and very clean.

The prices at the attached bar/restaurant were a little crazy. Sixteen dollars for a cheese burger, then extra for fries or potatoe chips is nuts. IHOP next door served steak tips and sides for hat price.

When staying in a hotel, our main concern is that it is clean. Our room did not disappoint! Would definitely stay here again.

When we asked the front desk for a restaurant suggestion , the ladies told us about the adjacent restaurant. The dining room was not open, so we entered the bar area, planning to eat there. The smell of cigarette smoke was disgusting!! We left and went somewhere else. The smoke smell was so bad, that even ordering and waiting for take-out was not an option. YUCK!!
