Coconut Grove

We (a family of 5 including 3 older teens) stayed in one of the 3 bedroom penthouse apartments. We were looking for a place that had plenty of space for us, a private outdoor area and close to both shops and beach. Coconut Grove was perfect. We enjoyed the location on Macrossan Street and a very short walk to the beach. The best aspect without a doubt was the top level deck with small pool, big BBQ, comfy outdoor furniture, large sun umbrella and a glorious view of palms and mountains. We spent many hours up there, enjoying the sun, the breeze and the views. The apartment was well furnished with everything we needed, including a lovely huge fridge with an ice maker and cold water dispenser.

Probably the only fault I could find is that personally I thought the pillows were a big firm. Note - the pool is small - great for a cooling dip but not big enough for swimming or for energetic kids/teens to play games in. But there is a bigger pool at the property that was suitable for swimming/playing.

Great clean spacious property, private pool, close to restaurants and beach. Large comfortable bed, great spa bath and large shower. We came for our honeymoon and were given a complimentary cheese plate on arrival which was lovely.

There was no shade over the pool which meant we couldn't really use it during the day but not a huge issue. Not an issue for our room as it was the penthouse however the lower level rooms have 0 privacy outside as the upper level balconies look directly into their pools and BBQ areas. Just a heads up.

Everything. The accommodation was so thoughtfully designed, from the layout of the room, lighting, cooling, pool temperature, seating, coffee, general ambience. The staff were incredibly helpful and welcoming.

That we had to check out.

The privacy, location, comfort and welcome. The units are secure and there is interaction with the garden and outside environment at every turn. The architecture is very appropriate here, and one can breathe in fresh air at any time if choosing to do so. The apartments are very sound proof once inside and doors closed. The scenery is lovely from the Terrace Apartments.

I don't know. I am very discerning and well travelled abroad. Guests can get it in their head to always expect better or more. Less can be better so it is lovely to feel this apartment is not too luxurious where it is impossible to relax should something be damaged.

The property is close to the beach and only 5 mins walk to the centre of town. The apartment itself is amazing with plenty of space with everything you need and a walk-in closet and bathroom beyond 5 star. The outdoor entertainment area is very spacious with split level and a plunge pool and spa with privacy shades. And did I mention the absolutely lovely staff who made us feel more than welcome. Will definitely stay next time we are in Port Douglas. Great for family or couple

Not to dislike about this place

privacy quiet beautiful gardens and running water in them on hot days lovely relaxed staff whoo helped you relax good information splendidly appointed laundry faciclities lovely plunge pool spa proximity to shops reataurants and beach high level of safety wonderful stay of 5 nights

nothing no complaints at all

Great location, walking distance to main shops and some restaurants. Very large/spacious apartment, private pool was beautiful and clean.

Wish the private terrace pool was more private. Directly overlooks main street and other apartments have direct view from above. This could be easily rectified with blinds/shade on both openings. No toothbrushes provided, despite other great toiletries being provided.

The Apartment was absolutely amazing, with our own plunge pool and spa. Full kitchen, spacious living area and all beautifully furnished with personal touches to make guests feel immediately at home. The staff were extremely friendly and welcoming. We will be back, as soon as we can.

Leaving.

We thought that most things with the property were fantastic. The location was great and the staff are good and the facilities in terms of our apartment we are wonderful.

There was only one negative really which was that it would’ve been nice for us to have access to a second bathroom in the apartment because when we had friends over visiting they had to use the ensuite bathroom which was a little uncomfortable.

The Coconut Grove is situated in a prime spot. The ammenities were first class and the staff were very friendly and accomodating. The room was exceptionally big and lovely views from the balcony. Parking was downstairs making it easy to go out for the day and return to a hassle free parking area.
