Launceston Backpackers

I really liked the comfortable bed, the kitchen facilities, the helpful manager, the friendliness of the other people staying there. I loved how close the supermarket was to the hostel and that there was parking on site. Also the bathroom and toilet facilities in the ladies was clean.

I didn't like the noise of some of the other persons staying on my floor (1st floor), but they did quiten down about 11.00pm. The stove top was very hard to light. Each time I had to have someone else light it for me. i just couldn't light it even when shown how to do it.

Mathew, the receptionist was absolutely great! So helpful and nice to everyone. Thanks, I had a lovely stay!

One of the guys sleeping in the dorm was very careless about anybody else. The room was very smelly, he would talk loudly on the phone at whatever time, regardless is somebody was sleeping. It’s part of the experience but perhaps reminding people to be respectful of others it might be a good idea.

Loved the location- walked all over Launie from here- and the park opposite was great to sit in with beautiful old trees for shade. Cuccina Café nearby lovely for brunch & Coles just up the road is open until midnight for buying things you forgot to pack- like a toothbrush!

Flywires on the windows would have been great, so I could leave the windows open at night. Very muggy the whole time I was there, but it was fresh air v insects... One little bedside table would be a bonus.

The place is old and dated, and thus lacks some modern day perks that other hostels have (i.e. powerpoints and lights at each bedside), but it's beautifully well maintained with really homely common areas and a large kitchen for cooking. The place is very clean (impressively so) and quiet, with no significant traffic noise or noise from the common areas. Great location too - easy walk to town. I ended up coming to stay again, after such a good experience!

The wifi was pretty sub-par, but I used my phone hotspot so it didn't bother me.

Fantastic location, parking on site & on street (free & without limits on weekends), clean rooms, kitchen and common areas, staff left clear instructions how to access the hostel after hours. Definitely recommend.

No privacy curtains in dorms

We expected to have to pick up the key from a lockbox because we arrived late, but there was someone at the desk. Really appreciated the welcome and assistance with our luggage after a long day travelling.

Bed was super comfy, room was warm with a heater, all facilities were clean. Laundry facilities were great, kitchen was well-equipped. Bathrooms clean and common areas cleaned daily. Great location, walking distance to city centre, Salamanca, museums and ferry to MONA. There is a $19 shuttle bus to airport which leaves just down the road from this hostel

The room I was in was on the top floor (there's no lift). Not an issue for me, but anyone who struggles with stairs should request a room on a lower level

we had a room near the washing machines and drying and didn’t seem to be a time limit on using those facilities. they should close at 9pm

I basically only slept here so can only comment on the facilities and the service and these were all great. Comfortable bed and bathroom was kept very clean. Great location too. The service however was phenomenal.

In my room the power points were in a bad spot but only a minor inconvenience.

Easily accessible from bus station..reception staff friendly. Kitchen and bathroom facilities were good. Reasonably priced.

No reading lights in dormitory. .Gas stove was old fashioned and difficult to use. .
