our second visit to this hotel, its still as we remembered it, rooms were large, clean and comfortable. Alittle on the dark side with it being an older property and small window. Good selection of teas and biscuits provided. Lots of lovely fresh fluffy towels too. We ate in the bistro at night and the food was lovely and had breakfast on the mornings and that was excellent too. Parking is a little awkward, we had to park on the street in front to unload cases and then received a leaflet of how to find the carpark to the rear when we checked in

car park entry could do with the potholes filling in, no suitcase rack for unpacking the suitcase so had to use the chairs, bed was a little uncomfortable sagged in the middle, alot of noise from doors downstairs banging until early hours of the morning

We liked everything. However, we had a message a day or so before arrival telling us that the George Hotel was also a nightclub venue and that there might be noise at night. We replied and asked for a guaranteed quiet room. The reply from the hotel was that we would have to upgrade to guarantee a quiet room. We did not upgrade but decided to negotiate on arrival. The fact was that the room we had been allocated was very quiet as there seemed to be no noisy events on during our stay. We thought it off-putting to be told the hotel might be noisy the day before we arrived.

I am physically handicapped and am unsteady without a walking stick. When the main bar closed at 9:30 pm the barman suggested we go to the gaming area. I did not have my walking stick and after we were served one drink apparently the manager instructed the barman to decline me any further service. The manager did not speak to me which I regarded as poor customer relations. I spoke to the barman and said I am a licensee and well aware of the Responsible Service of Alcohol. My name is Kevin Silberberg and I was in Room 11 on 11 and 12 January, 2024. I am seriously considering whether I might stay at the Craig Hotel next time.

Spacious room with separate bedroom and lounge allowed us to spread out and relax more between events of the comp we were at. Bathroom was roomy as well, didn't feel cramped. Electric blankets in the bed were divine, perfect for those chilly nights so we could have a good sleep. The kitchenette was great, we were able to make our own food and the fridge was a good size for staring everything. Very happy overall!

The shower wet the bathroom floor a fair bit, which wasn't great. Aesthetically the bathroom looked great but functionally, no door on the shower meant a wet floor and soggy bathmats. The couch wasn't the most comfortable, quite narrow and not very cushioned. Also the one ply toilet paper was a bit of a downer. Bit fussy but when the rest of the room is so lovely, we expected a bit more!

The room was on the second floor fortunately there is a lift. The hotel is a heritage building and maintains the features of the time, high ceilings, sash windows. We had a bathroom with a wet floor, walk in shower and other features for people with mobility issues, handles, rails etc. all very practical and marvellous if you needed them.

The lighting is awful, little recessed lights in the ceiling , discreet bedside lights and a light on the desk, almost impossible to read unless you sit directly beside a light, the whole impression is of gloom except for the bathroom where the sun streams in. The wifi is very poor unless you are sitting outside the reception office downstairs.

The car park was outside and access was through the bar side of the building down a narrow alleyway which was the designated smoking area. The were no luggage trolleys so we had multiple trips weaving through the smokers and patrons celebrating. Glass wall of bathroom meant the light couldn’t be used at night without disturbing partner.

We luxuriated in olde-world charm. Central position. Having kitchen facilities made quick catering possible. The washing machine and dryer would be found useful for travellers.

The suite was dark due to the curtains hanging over the windows - tiebacks would be useful. I understand why the windows couldn't be opened due to security, but some fresh air would have been appreciated. Even having a ceiling fan as an additional option to the air conditioner.

Friendly staff, great location on main street making it a good position for a walk around the town. Spotlessly clean room, lovely bathroom. Free parking at rear of property. Breakfast not included however there is a lovely breakfast menu in the neighbouring building (part of the same business). Our two night stay here gave us a real feel of an old Australian town. Lots to do around here. It was not one of the finest properties we stayed in during our tour but for some reason it was memorable in a wonderful way, we were very happy there. Really enjoyed our stay and would highly recommend it.

Gambling machines downstairs were open until 3am, we did hear a bit of noise from there one night. To be fair we did know they were there prior to booking (but not how late they would be open), hence we gave property a 9 not 10.

2 floor balcony still after 12 months hasn't been renovated since our last stay also in the dinning room, tables only had 4 seating and to fit our party and we had to move tables for us to fit offing wood oven pizzas not available also the atmosphere in the dinning room is very depressing and desperately needs renovations also someone was parked in our car sport also on 1st floor bathrooms and especially ground floor needed cleaning feet stuck to the floors and our room wasn't very clean with dust visible and couch out dated and looking very grimy.needs more cleaning staff the whole venue needs to be deep clean to be honest or renovations.

We loved the hotel, the room which was large and clean with a comfortable bed and the bathroom was a good size and just lovely. The location was central, and all the staff were very friendly and helpful. The bar and lounge were a nice space to relax in and the food tasty and reasonably priced.

The only thing that was disappointing was the state of the carpark. It was in poor condition with large potholes which were impossible to miss as there were so many.
