Van der Valk Hotel Beveren

The room was very good - albeit there was a bit of a smell when one first entered and that sometimes lingered. We couldn't ascribe this smell to anything in particular - drains, the bathroom or an external source. It was a little off-putting. We were visiting relatives nearby and thus we only slept and had breakfast in the hotel. The breakfasts were excellent and, couldn't be bettered for choice, quantity or quality.

We were not informed prior to arrival that there was extensive refurbishment work being undertaken on one of the bedroom blocks. The work didn't affect our stay but this was an unprofessional oversight on the part of the hotel - the drainage work associated with this refurbishment may have been the source of our smell. As a consequence of the refurbishment work we were given a 'sorry' card that entitled us to free coffee. We had breakfast included in our hotel costs and there were coffee making facilities in our room. Thus, in reality, this was a hollow and unused gesture on the part of the management,

We love this hotel and stay every August. The facilities are excellent (the pool, spa and kids play area are top quality) and the breakfast buffet exceptional value for money. We were upgraded to the new rooms, which have been really well done. To be fair, the older rooms are still great. Coffee machines in room are a great luxury touch. Staff are always helpful and courteous.

Gave a score of 9/10 as for second year running building works going on during our stay and mess in hallways wasn't ideal. As the hotel isn't cheap (especially dinner, which is pricey and slightly odd menu compared to what we would be used to in the UK) it's a disruption that has impact on overall experience. Fingers crossed all finished by next year.

the breakfast was really good! so many options and we loved it. the pool and spa are also very nice.

only the suits are in the new part of the hotel. the normal rooms are in the old part. while everything was clean, the price of €130 per night is way too much for such rooms. there are other hotels with newer bathrooms, e.g. for less money. so the state of the room was quite disappointing. we had do pay additionally for breakfast and the spa area. at the end we payed €200 for one night, which was okay but we would not do it again. there are other hotels whete in the price of €130 at least the spa area is included…

I liked this hotel for its calm spa facilities and beautiful spacious room. Also thanks for the balloons and a gift card:) The breakfast was truly amazing, so much choice!

The receptionist lady was clearly new or not experienced enough. I think it is important to welcome people with a smile and give all the relevant information proactively. In fact, she was not talking at all and did not explain anything about Spa (which we booked in advance). We had to go back to reception several times first to take the key to the Spa then again to take the bathrobe and towels as there were no one at the Spa reception. Also the Spa was not cleaned, there were used towels everywhere and no fruit water. The fire in the resting area was not even turned on...a bit disappointing. Pity that there is no bubble bed in Spa.

I really liked the friendly staff of the hotel. Also delicious and rich breakfasts. A very wide variety of food. This is really a big plus. And the koi fish in the small pool at the entrance literally fascinate you with their beauty.

Very old TV, which catches a maximum of 10-15 channels, there is no smart function from YouTube. The shower head is very uncomfortable, which is high and you can not adjust it. If, for example, you just go for a swim, but do not wet your head, then this is impossible. The bathroom is also not very convenient, because you constantly have to hold the handle with a watering can while watering yourself. There is no handle on the wall. Water will splash and spill onto the floor, because there are no curtains or glass in the bathroom either. The hotel is not bad, but it is very old and needs updating.

We really enjoyed our stay in the hotel, especially nice room with a desing touch and delicious food (we had a breakfast and dinner in ozzo asisn restaurant. Wellness was good addition too - there are three saunas and orher spa possibilities, which is nice.

Hotel feels little bit crowded, we had problem to find the table during the breakfast. Also the area near swimming pool was not so pleasant - some machines for drying around the pool, not finished construction in the area. I would also add more places for sitting and some plants to feel more warm and cosy in this area.

the rooms are super spacious, the pool was really nice and empty and the breakfast is one of the best breakfast ever!

I only have a remark about the restaurant; They made several mistakes in our order, forgot our appetizers, mixed the side dishes and the sauce and got our drinks wrong. But I guess it just wasn't their best night :P

Checking in went very smooth. The swimming pool etc was very nice. The room was also in a very nice condition. The reception was able to help us with a quiet room, so my daughter was very happy about that.

The menu at the restaurant was still the one from the previous week. Also we had to request the waiting staff several times to come and take our order and also for example everyone else was getting bread and butter during the first few minutes, but we had to specifically request these. As my daughter (8y) was already quite hungry, this was not so satisfying...

Modern Hotel was stylish and very clean

Not much in the town, no taxi's available to get around and it was 35 minutes walk to local train station, but you can get a bus to it which is helpful. Food was lovely, would have liked a few snacks available in the afternoon rather than big meals.
