Holiday Inn Express Edmonton Downtown, an IHG Hotel

Good location, good breakfast, friendly and helpful staff, all the facilties worked,right next to a bus stop, I was given a receipt when I checked out without having to ask for one.

Sometimes the chambermaid forget to top up my coffee pods but I could have got more by simply calling reception. The last night,in the early hours, a man and woman seemed to get into a quarel right next door. It woke me up and it was gettimg rather heated so I reported it to reception. The response was laid back, to say the least.

Hotel was clean, staff friendly and attentive, rooms quiet and comfortable and good breakfast options.

lots of construction in area making it pedestrian-unfriendly and desolate downtown. Took my young daughter for a walk Saturday afternoon to find many stores gone. at some points, would question safety. Walked out front door for dinner (mom & young daughter) to being asked for money. When you can’t get out the front doors without pandering, just to get over to car park, it’s not a good feeling. Car park was dimly lit, and faces the facade of building. Both you, and vehicle feel quite vulnerable (especially since you have to pay add up for that feeling). I appreciate that’s just the condition of downtowns now, but question cost value vs attraction/amenities for staying downtown.

The hotel location was perfect for exploring Edmonton centre and the river front. The hotel is o my 5/10 mins walk from Rogers Place (if you are an ice hockey fan). The room allocated was lovely, clean, comfortable with a lovely view from the balcony. The staff were all friendly and helpful. Breakfast was good and the facilities gym and swimming pool were all open for use. Within the hotel complex there were 2 small cafe/ restaurants and a convenience store. The Red Arrow bus company work from the building and buses to destination in Alberta etc leave from outside the office. This was ideal for me as I was travelling by bus from Edmonton to Calgary.

The Wi-Fi had a poor or weak connection within the hotel.

More than I loved the stay in the hotel it was the staffs that I was really impressed at. TK, Nav and Raj were some amazing people at the front desk especially TK such an amazing guy. And the housekeeping manager Chris is also an amazing guy props to them for making me feel super comfortable.

The room I stayed at one of the bed lights wasnt working but it didnt really bother me much.

The front desk staff was absolutely wonderful! As soon as they heard it was my daughter's birthday, the gentleman went to the back and brought her back a gift. We went out for the night and when we came back we were looking for snacks, the girl at the desk told us the vending machine only accepted coins, when I asked if she could break a $5 bill for me she said she could not but asked us to wait and went to the back and grabbed us some snacks. The staff are wonderful, always had a smile on their faces and so willing to help, even the security guard. We will definitely be back!! I highly recommend 👌

My only dislike for the hotel was trying to get into the parking lot.

The gentleman at the front counter. the place was PACKED and extremely busy because of the hockey game in town. My mom showed up to Edmonton to surprise me that day and he was able to accommodate a room change even during the chaos. He was able to get us a room with 2 beds rather than one bed for 3 people. This was greatly appreciated and he had to move mountains to do it.

The bed sheets had a lot of static, but that's not a big deal.

Staff was friendly and helpful, even allowed us to check in early. The room was exactly advertised with all amenities and breakfast included. The bed was big and I was able to connect my Chromecast to the TV via HDMI cable. Place was solid, no cap.

Just minor maintenance required as the bedside USB ports weren't working and the cupboard door to the fridge was broken.

Everything was great, this hotel comparison to the higher end hotels in the area. The rooms are no different…..the decor is no different from the higher end hotels. Your just paying extra for the name and thinking the service and decor is better but it is not. I found the Holiday End was cleaner than the higher end hotels and staff was just as friendly. The parking was just as secure and a lot cheaper. I will differently stay again.

The coffee brand in the room I am not a fan of. A better quality would be great. A lounge chair in room would also be nice instead of having to sit on the end of the bed. Other than that everything was great.

Favorites in order : Staff, location, breakfast, room with balcony, pet friendly, parking, nice soaps and shampoo. ( but far and away the staff was the best! TK in particular at the front desk is genuinely wanting guest to feel welcome)

A couple of minor things such as electrical outlet with chargers was not working and light on make up mirror not working. Parking was very full on busiest night but overflow lot is very nearby

The bed was the most comfortable bed I have ever slept in. Breakfast buffet was delicious. Close to transit for those travellers that don't drive.

Only 'complaint' I can really make, is tbat I did not like the liquid soap in the shower. Would have mjch preferred a regular bar of soap. Not a big deal though. Easy enough to bring my own next time.
