Breakfast had lots of options and was easy to get a table. The room had lots of space and was warm. It was easy to control the temperature of the radiators and there was also air conditioning if needed. Bed was very comfy with enough pillows. Shower was great with nice toiletries supplied. Windows triple glazed so was quite quiet even though on road. We took the train from the airport which was very straightfirward and cheap. Was easy to find the hotel from the station. Was about 1km which was easy with suitcases as not hilly, even in the snow. The reception and bar area was very nice.

No complaints. This is a very good mid range hotel. We would stay again.

AMAZING breakfast that's already included in the price! The hotel and the room were also designed in a quirky and beautiful way, which made the stay special. I asked for a quiet room, which was easily pre-arranged. Luggage could be stored for free in a secure area free of charge. Staff was very kind and considerate. The hotel itself is located walking distance from the central station (10-15 minutes) and shorter from some of the city's main attractions. I'd definitely stay here again on a return trip to Helsinki!

The curtains aren't exactly blackout, but other than that, everything was great!

Loved everything about Hotel Helka. The room was perfectly-sized and had everything I needed. I really appreciated the Alvar Aalto furniture and learning about the history of the building.The bathroom was well-equipped with great products. The sauna was always empty when I used it, so it was nice to feel like I had the sauna to myself. It's super close to the train station and to tram stops. The environment felt safe for a solo traveller. The breakfast was delicious with a mix of hot and cold options and was offered at a reasonable amount time perfect for both early birds and late risers. The hotel is perfect. I would stay there again and definitely recommend it to everyone.

There were some roadworks going on during my stay, which meant I took a few detours to walk there, but it was understandable.

Great helpful staff. Great location, only 10 minutes walk to the main stations and attractions. Quiet (solid walls, comfy bed, and room with everything you need, including towels, shampoo, bed cover, and air con if you need it. Exceptional breakfast. As many choices I've ever seen anywhere; from local foods to fruit, cereals, breads, cheeses, meats, porridge, and a whole lot more. Caveat: Abysmal internet so avoid if you need it to work.

There are two connections to the internet. Both have one bar max (out of 5), and a max of 15 mb/s down, when it's working. Often it times out, and reminds me up of the old dial up days. I mentioned it twice to the staff, and got a blank. It's a structural issue with their router/and or work load. It wasn't a reboot issue. Constant for over 2 days. It's almost functionally useless, so avoid if you need it to work. Albanian hostels etc were faster.

Room was big and very clean! The bed was comfortable and we had the best night sleep. Location is great and overall great value for your money. Staff were very helpful and lovely. We would definitely stay again!

There could be better gluten free options at breakfast! There were muffins and some biscuits but these were not great to be honest - I was hoping for something bit more fresh. I was so jealous my husband had some yummy blueberry pie and pancakes! Also was missing some hair conditioner and body lotion in the room. Not end of the world as there was a good supermarket around the corner.

The bed was comfortable, the room quiet and the breakfast truly superb. The location is pretty good, 15 mins walk from the railway station (with a heavy bag) and 25 mins to the port. I really enjoyed the hotel sauna, but it would be great to provide additional towels for it. Ah, and I had three nail polishes left as a gift - that's very cute.

I would say some of the staff could be friendlier, though others were very nice. The bathroom floor level was higher than the room floor level, and I kept falling the whole first day - thankfully, only on the opposite wall, but I can't call it a nice experience. Finally, because of the stopper, the window could be opened only a little bit, and I like having fresh air, so that was rather inconvenient.

The staff were lovely and patient. I have anxiety and need a lot of information to feel comfortable somewhere new, and the person at reception was happy to explain things in detail to me. The room was a decent size for a single room, it was clean and tidy and the bed was comfortable. The decor both in the room and through the hotel was 10/10. Breakfast was very good, with a good selection of hot and cold foods, and including gluten free options too The location is great too, easy to get to from the train station.

I found the chair in the room very uncomfortable, there is nothing else I did not like.

Fabulous breakfast, one of the biggest choices I've ever seen. Room is small, bathroom is small, but warm and very clean and tidy, and quiet. Bed is super comfy. Staff are excellent. Make sure to ask the chatty barman for recommendations, but if he recommends the nearby kebab place pay with cash. The food is as good and cheap as he says, but they charged my card x3! And I gave up asking for the $$ back. So pay cash! Easy to get to pretty much anywhere in Helsinki by foot. Would book here again if was ever in Helsinki again.

A few things were broken and being a weekend couldn't be fixed, but they did immediately replace the broken bedside light (the copper wires were poking out as the sheathing had cracked - I realised because lamp suddenly went off). The broken things weren't critical and TBH it was a surprise as the rest of the hotel was excellent.

We were the only ones with small kids there but the kids felt welcome since they got a small gift upon checkin and then an extra special ice cream in the morning along with the breakfast. That was a nice touch. The room was comfortable, got an extra bed and a crib for the kids. The breakfast was good too. Evening and morning sauna was included in the price but we didn’t use it since don’t have the habit of doing so.

It smelled like cigarettes in the lobby almost every time we were there (smoke coming in from the street apparently). The room didn’t have a fridge, but we could store our stuff in the lobby’s common fridge so that was ok. The room could have been cleaned better - there was visible dust on the bedside table and lamp posts.
