La Grande Carrée

This has got to be one of the nicest places we have ever stayed at. We stayed 6 nights using it as a base to tour the Loire valley. Rooms are very well furnished and are very quiet. The heated pool is a bonus and the large garden is surrounded by mature trees making it a real oasis. Lovely breakfast with a selection of cereals, fruits, breads, pastries, honey and jams. It is a nice walk or short tram ride into Tours centre. Sophie and Stephane could not have done more to make our stay more pleasant. They are very obliging, made us feel very welcome and helped with choosing restaurants and with tourist information. Sophie can provide a lovely dinner, which matches the outside restaurants, in the dining room at 24hrs notice.

with many years of traveling in France and staying at B&B I want to state, that it was the best stay we ever had! We’d like to give 15 points instead of 10. Heartfelt passion for making the stay at the Grand Carrée an unforgettable experience is the core of Sophie’s and Stéphane’s approach towards their guests. We felt at home from the very first minute. Spacious rooms, wonderful comfy beds, a nice pool in a tree shaded garden - a real hideaway! The love for detail and a perfect service round it up. Absolutely fantastic was the diner they provided for us. Modern and traditional French cuisine with a full potion of love and passion. 5 Michelin stars for that!!!

This is a stunning property, beautifully renovated to a very high standard. The breakfast was fantastic. The location perfect with private parking and a 2 minute walk to the tram which was only a few stops into central Tours. Most noticeably the hosts could not be more helpful and friendly. (For English speakers they also speak perfect English). It was a pleasure to meet them and stay in their beautiful house.

There wasn’t anything we didn’t like. This place will only get better as the owners continue improvements such as to the grounds.

Amazing building and very friendly hosts. Silver the lab was loved by all and especially our grandsons. Rooms were lovely. We were treating it as a stopover during our return trip from Aquitaine to the Channel Tunnel and had planned to arrive early enough to view the town and use the lovely pool but unfortunately heavy traffic meant we only arrived at about 8pm so we only had time to pop into town for dinner. The town centre was just 3 tram stops away and was very very easy.

Bit pricey for what it was. Breakfast was very nice but a little sweet for our taste.

The hosts were brilliant , so welcoming and very friendly. The property is lovely, a mansion built in the 18th century and beautifully restored, with spacious rooms, We loved it so much we stayed a second night as well. There is also a really lovely pool, we spent all evening by the pool, and the hosts’ dog, Silver, is adorable to say the least. We had dinner both nights, the food was fantastic, Sophie did an amazing job, and for the breakfast they ordered croissants from a local bakery, so that was a lovely treat. We felt that both Stephane and Sophie went above and beyond to accommodate us and to make sure we get what we wanted. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would strongly recommend.

We arrived late and only stayed for 1 night, but everything was perfect! the room was very clean and cosy, the bathroom modern and spacious. I think we got an upgraded our room as it wasn't too busy when we where visiting (thank you!). Owners very polite & friendly. The breakfast table was just wow :) Best breakfast we had during our 2 weeks in France. We did not try the pool but it looked lovely.

Everything was fine for us! We could hear other guests in the corridor coming/going , but I wouldn't expect this type of hotel to be soundproof anyway, so it wasn't an issue for us.

The hosts are lovely and inspiring with their dedication to restoring this chateau and their attention to detail in maintaining the historical soul of the home while giving their guests all the modern conveniences is amazing. Our room was large and lovely and our bed was so comfortable. The shared spaces were cozy and inviting and our breakfast happened to be served in front of a blazing fire. Just magical. It is an easy short walk to the city centre, but if you not up to walking, there is a tram that is just a couple blocks from the front gate. We would stay here again in a minute. It would be great to rent the whole house with friends or family. It is a perfect spot if you are exploring the Loire Valley.

There was nothing we didn't like about this property. We were sorry we couldn't stay longer.

Friendly and gracious hosts. This château has been lovingly restored with great respect for its centuries-old architecture. The room and bathroom are spacious with updated shower, toilet and sink. The bed is very comfortable with quality linens. Quiet wooded location with large grounds yet close to everything. Parking is free and conveniently inside the property behind a locked gate which you are given a key so you can come and go as you please. Short walk to tram which takes you to downtown Tours and restaurants. Breakfast is included with fresh assortment of breads, croissants, delicious fruit, assortment of yogurt, orange juice and excellent coffee. The hosts are very helpful with suggesting places to visit and offering to make dinner reservations. Will definitely return when visiting the area again. Excellent base location to travel to famous Château‘s and wine regions.

Everything, location, tram, or walk into Tours easily. Venue, outstanding, hosts exceptional. Breakfast scrumptious. Red squirrels in the grounds, fascinating to watch. Silver the friendly dog. Historic and interesting building, being restored gradually to a very high standard. Look forward to returning, would highly recommended.

Nothing not to like.

La Grande Carree is extremely well located for Tours airport and visiting Tours and the surrounding area, getting into the city is easy on foot or by tram. The house and the owners are charming - they have renovated to create stylish and comfotable accommodation with a very warm welcome and could not have been more helpful. The grounds give space to relax with the added benefit of a heated swimming pool. Breakfast was delicious with a choice of fresh fruit, breads and pastries.
