Aquis Grana City Hotel

The Aquis Grana has an excellent location in easy walking distance of major cultural sites, a lovely park, and a vast array of cafés, restaurants and pâtisseries. It's in the core of old Aachen. The staff was friendly and helpful, going above and beyond in many respects. Breakfast was ample, the breakfast room large and comfortable.

Single rooms, or double rooms for solo travelers, often tend to be less attractive than others. My room was well situated for quiet, at the end of a corridor, but it was rather plain in decor. There were a few odd things, a stand (for a lamp? a fan?) in one corner, a light bulb that flickered. I was offered a different room after mentioning the bulb, but didn't want to pack up again having just unpacked, so stayed. The room was basically o.k., but not on the four-star level. Three stars seemed to fit my experience. Especially since the room didn't have air conditioning. At this time of year (early May), that was workable, but it would be tough in July. (Hence the possible fan?)

Large room. Excellent central location. Lots of sockets in the right places. Good shower, plenty of hot water. Very good breakfast with plenty of choice. Excellent espresso. Private parking.

Parking was expensive. WiFi was not strong in the room. Could not log on really. OK in public areas. Pillows small and flat.

The Aquis Grana was the perfect choice for us. We were pleased with everything. Breakfast is included for everyone! So you don't have to book breakfast and pay extra or give your room number when you go to breakfast; they offer an all-inclusive hotel room fee....except parking. Parking does cost 18 euros a night. I find the all-inclusive approach very nice! In a world where extras that were once considered standard now cost extra and add up quickly. "Oh, you want a pilot with that plane, $100 for an experienced pilot is extra. Seriously, the Aquis Grana is straightforward, located conveniently to all major sights, and a charming hotel with a very friendly staff.

Parking could be included in the room cost.

Location of hotel is fantastic for access to Aachen market squares, bars and restaurants. Room is basic, but large. Classic twin beds that can be split if needed. Although the hotel does not have a restaurant, the hot and cold buffet breakfast is superb, in particular the little sausage-meat balls. We are already looking at returning here in December to visit the Aachen Christmas Markets.

Parking could have been a little easier, but we arrived late so our fault the parking had all been taken. The staff were very helpful in finding alternates.

The entire Aachen Innenstadt (old town) is on your doorstep with many charming restaurants and shops around the corner and in countless hidden alleys surrounding the cathedral. We had a large room and two big windows in the older section of the hotel (3 steps down not wheelchair accessible but all other rooms are). There is a modern lift. The room had everything we needed with a built in writing desk and lots of storage plus two spots to set your suitcases. Excellent breakfast buffet with lots of choices.

Internet connection was ok for email but slower to download maps/pictures. It dropped sometimes and unfortunately requires re-entry of name and room number to reconnect. Management is aware but the €60K equipment upgrade is delayed by the pandemic. I recommend a second comfy chair since the large room has space for it.

Nice hotel in a great location. Everything is within walking distance. We stayed in the hotel with seniors for whom long distances are no longer suitable and thanks to the location they were able to explore the whole centre in comfort. They offered gluten free options for breakfast which we also appreciated. We would be happy to use this hotel again on our next visit. In addition, just a few meters from the hotel there is a great confectionery and this came in handy for all of us!

The location near the cathedral is perfect. We were able to easily sightsee, shop, and take transit around the greater tri-country area with just short steps feom the door. The rooms were simple, but comfortable and well-appointed. The included breakfast was delicious.

The building is older and our windows did not seal well, which let in a lot of noise at night.

A one night stay driving to Germany from France for a family wedding. We were given a lovely room with a living area and 2 bedrooms (I'm not sure what I booked- sometimes I love to upgrade to a special space!). The windows looked out over the cathedral which is just a block away. We were there on market day, so enjoyed seeing the lovely fruits and vegetables. We were able to park in the small lot behind the hotel. Nice breakfast buffet.

This is a central city location so driving is a bit difficult. We found it with no problem- just busy traffic in the evening.

Location is excellent in center next to mall and few steps to main shopping street , room size is good with katle for tea/coffee , comfort beds, breakfast from 6.30 -10.30 and very good, fast check- in/out and staff is polite and professional, recommend for solo traveler and family.

pillow smell no good, could be because the case was too big and not fitting well or needed regular washing, also shower head needed maintenance or replacement.

The location is super and the staff is very friendly

We'd prefer to have aircondition in our room. As well as a bottle a water for free (not in the mini-bar only): frankly speaking, I can't remember a hotel without free water for guests (even with 2-3 stars). It would also be good to improve soundproofing: when we were in the room, we could hear everything going on in the corridor.
