a&o Frankfurt Ostend

This hostel was really unusual. It made me feel at home and due to it I have the best memories about Frankfurt, its people and hospitality. I came before check-in time and was very hungry. They checked me in earlier as exception, upgraded my room to only women's dormitory and gave free breakfast. The room was very clean. Bed was comfortable. The internet connection was very strong. The hostel is situated right near the tram station, so it is very easy to go to the city centre. Staff was very helpful and friendly. This was a great experience. Thank you very much!

Young lady at reception was really very helpful and nothing was too much trouble. She changed our room, as we wanted a quiet room away from all the young bloods. Room was good and was just like staying in a budget hotel, very basic and clean. Bed for me was very comfortable and firm, just as I like it! Bathroom was small and practical. Overall, really impressed considering we've never stayed in a hostel/hotel before!

Youngsters making a lot of noise in the early hours of the morning after their night out. Disturbed our sleep after a long drive from the UK. Not the hostel/hotels fault but just a warning to light sleepers. Also, it would've been a good idea to provide fans or have central AC, especially on a humid night. Hence, all the noise, as everyone had their windows open. The corners in the shower needs a good clean with bleach, no big deal to be honest! Everything else was very clean.

It was the cleanest hostel I’ve ever been! (and I’ve been travelling since 9 years and been to more than 20+ hostels before). So those, who complain about the cleanliness of the hostel have probably beyond high standards according to my observations :)

Everything was amazing but there was no social gathering or an atmosphere where you can meet other travellers. There is a big common place but no one was interested for a social interaction. So I can say, it is not the best place for socialising. But considering all other great things, I would definitely recommend staying at this hostel.

The facilities themselves where excellent and clean. Breakfast was good, although could have been filled more. Rooms where nice and clean and fit all the people well. The location was bit of the centrum but to result that the public transportation worked perfectly (until came the public transportation strike xD). Bed was comfortable and the staff was accommodating and friendly. We as a group had an excellent stay!

The missing breakfast items could have been filled more often and the breakfast team been more attentative on that aspect. Otherwise the breakfast was great!

The room was clean and mostly quiet, shampoo/conditioner provided which is nice. Downstairs area had lots of space to sit around and relax which is good for waiting for check in time if you arrive early. Bedding was free despite what email says. There is tram stop right outside hostel.

I waited in line to check in for about 25 minutes at least, and there were only a few people in front of me. It isn't the staff's fault they were all nice and working really hard, maybe it is the system A&O use? Not sure but it took a while and every day if you went down to lobby there was always huge queues. More staff needed maybe.

large dorm rooms with a proper bathroom and shower, great common areas for work, which don’t have an obnoxiously loud music, great, helpful, cheerful staff, right next to an Aldi supermarket

lockers under the bed are useless since they have huge holes in them, you are better of renting one of their electronic lockers, which are reasonable 4 euros for 24 hours, location is 1 hr walk and 25 min ride on train 11 from the central station

The bunk beds allowed us to all stay in the same room, and the separate shower and toilet rooms each with their own sink are genius! Thank you staff for your kindness in helping us in our stay! The location is also very good to get onto public transportation to get you anywhere you want to be.

The first day was warmer than usual, and so the room got a little hot. We should have asked if there were fans to borrow. But, the windows open all the way and fresh air flows in.

The location is great, far enough away from the city centre for it to be quiet but still close enough to get there without having to commute for a long time. The staff we encountered were accommodating, friendly and helpful. The room, en suite, sheets and towels were clean. The common area/lobby was relatively well maintained as well. WiFi was satisfactory. We had a pretty nice view, as well.

The reception was understaffed at times. Very small selection of snacks at the bar. The kitchen was small and not that well maintained but it was ok - a bigger fridge and stove would have been nice. The breakfast was quite limited as well but it's optional. It was also very hot in the bedrooms and there were no fans (in their defence, fans were not listed in the room facilities). Sockets near one of the beds did not work.

So many things! Its very new, clean, our room (family) was really big and stylish and also with a private bathroom, friendly staff. Dont get scared with the word hostel. The vibe in it is so fresh and modern! Well done guys! 😜

The only thing I didnt like was that when searching where to sleep in Frankfurt I used the filter “free parking”. When we arrived(Friday after 23:00!) I got shocked when the receptionist said they dont have free parking, only few places of paid one but this was full anyway.. We needed to leave our car parked in the street where it is not allowed and risk to get a fine.. so be careful with that:)

* The location is wonderful, very close to the supermarket and downtown. * I loved the facilities, it has nice and nice common areas to work and take a fun time. * The staff is very friendly. * Breakfast was good. * Small rooms but just enough, and you can use the common areas additionally. * The internet works perfectly. * You can keep your luggage, and additionally, if you need some extra time, you can use the lockers that have a fair cost depending on the time. *I loved it
