Discovery Kartika Plaza Hotel

The breakfast is great, so is the breakfast staff. We had a wonderful room steward. Our room was comfortable and quiet. The hotel is in a perfect location for beach, shopping and the airport connection.

We've stayed in this hotel many times before, we love the location and all the facilities. We were unpleasantly surprised to see that the pool has not been treated properly as there is plenty of mold growing at the bottom of the pool, on the stairs and around the pool bar stools. We love to swim and this hotel has a great pool, that's one of the reasons why we chose this place, but the mold has to go!

This is a lovely hotel with fantastic grounds (gardens, a huge pool, a bar, and wonderful seaside restaurant) and very hospitable staff. We really enjoyed our stay.

The hotel uses very low quality tissue, toilet paper, bottled water, and tea/coffee in the rooms. The towels were also worn out and should have been replaced. All of this undermines the experience.

Facilities and services were first class, as were the staff

The onsite dining/bars are substantially more expensive than even similar standard resorts/hotels in the surrounding area, as much as 30-40% so, with less quality than the aforementioned competition. Put simply, don't eat/drink here, organise your own private driver rather than going through the hotel, go to a private launderette etc and you'll save quite a bit of money for a better experience, however could not fault the staff, cleanliness or facilities.

There is no open beach in the resort

The breakfast was superb. Lots of choice. Location was excellent. The restaurant on the beach front was excellent.

Rooms were a bit dated and bathroom could be more user friendly. Our first room had a step into the bath for the shower which was not suitable for older people. Also having to pay for different coffee at breakfast. Other hotels of this class include this for free.

Breakfast was a great variety. Omelette chef was slow and created huge waiting times. Any ordered meals around pool also long waiting times to get. Other than that good was good although spicy. Raveta Naverata duty manager was very lovely to us. Informing and listened to us. She is very pleasant and was doing her job very well.

Improving cooking times in facility. Price of food and drinks expensive. No escalator going down to pool level. Do not like constant music that was loud. In foyer. In reception area. In pool area. In breakfast region at night.

Great pool which we had to ourselves, along with beautiful grounds. Breakfast buffet was fantastic with a great variety of foods. F&B staff were incredibly friendly & helpful especially around the pool and at breakfast.

As it's an old building there is no security in lifts (i.e no swipe card needed to get into lifts etc) so anyone off the street could access. No power points in bathroom. Construction works going on - although there was minimal disruption & only apparent near pool area.

We have stayed at this property 5 times. We love the staff at the Kul kul bar and the food and drinks. The upgrades in the entrance and front area give it a new modern twist, which we love ❤️ We got a handwritten note and a welcome fruit platter when we arrived, which was lovely. All the staff are so beautiful and friendly.

We didn't like the amount of noise at night. Every night, there is a disco area that finishes at 1am. There are also 2 other areas in the hotel that play music at the same time as the disco area. This was all new to us. It had never been like that in the past stays.

Buffet breakfast is amazing, pool is great & rooms are very comfortable.

There was only one think that we did not like and that was 2 nights of some entertainment that was set up outside near the Restaurant area which was extremely over the top loud signing & talking not the best place to set up, we could not sit outside to enjoy our veranda and even with the door shut sitting inside we could still hear it, by the second night of entertainment we tried to call Reception to let them know it was way too loud but no-one would answer. I would check to see if anything is booked in if you are going to stay there, if it was quieter, it would have been ok to handle.

The buffet breakfast was amazing. Different menu daily. Great central location in Kuta, close to shops and beach. Staff were amazingly friendly. From the reception staff, to those you met in the corridors, everyone had a ready smile for you. My daughter had her birthday whilst we were there and we were so surprised returning to the room to find the staff had decorated the bed with rose petals in the words of " happy birthday". Later on the day they delivered a small birthday cake to the room. We hadn't informed the hotel of her birthday but I guess someone's job was to check passport birthdays and had this organised. Thank you very much for making my daughters birthday a memorable one.

Room decor is abit outdated. Pool closes 9pm. With the pool and pool chairs being hogged from the morning hours, it was difficult to get a pool chair. Extending pool hour to 11pm to fit in those who can't utilise the pool and it's facilities during the day would be great.
