Hotel Castille

Roof top breakfast location was breath taking. Breakfast was good , not a huge variety but good enough for us. From the moment we arrived, staff were very attentive. Came immediately to set the air-conditioning and got us a pedestal fan on request. Coffee making facilities were also given as pre arranged when booking. Iron was also given as pre arranged. We were in room 44 , with the three windows, two of them overlooking the square and the breathtaking views. Our request for this room with the three windows were granted, thankyou. The view from the room at night was of amazing square, harbour and the large cruise ships docking, the feeling of not leaving the square, while in the bed room . The location was exceptional with the upper Barracka gardens on the door step, almost an extension of the hotel ,so could hang around until late overlooking the three cities. It was a wonderful experience staying in a historical old building, which was well maintained. Two bottles of water were given on the first day which we topped up daily from the water dispenser in the front room. Appreciated the recycling and topping up. Although next to the prime minister's office ( castille), taxi was allowed to briefly stop for loading and unloading. All the monuments, shops , cafes and bars walking distance, not forgetting the castille hotel coffee shop on the ground floor and the central bus station, just a few minutes away . Local bus service is very good and value for money to travel to any point of the island. Book with confidence, a home away from home !!

bath had a shower curtain (unhygienic) instead of a screen ( could update).The noise from the next room was heard . One whole night was impossible to sleep. Rest of the days were fine with quieter guests.

Beautiful old building. Lovely room. Location great. All staff friendly and attentive. Good breakfast on the rooftop with stunning views down to the harbour. No need for many euros could pay everything on a mastercard

Traffic was busy and noisy as main route into town but views compensated. Could close windows with air con. As an infrequent traveller and a Brit did miss any tea and coffee facilities but soon filled up the fridge with cold drinks! Cafe below part of hotel. Check taxis dont take you round a scenic route back to the hotel unless you want it!

Exceptional location, great views from windows, friendly and helpful staff, loved the 'old Malta' decor. Super views from rooftop breakfast area and good choice of items.

The plumbing in the bathroom was definitely in need of an upgrade - bath tap did not work AT ALL so we had to use the shower to fill up the bath. Not a huge problem but slightly annoying nonetheless. Aircon VERY noisy, but effective. Returned late one evening to find lights on in our room and the door unlocked. We knew we had locked up, and had gone out in daylight so hadn't even had the lights on, let alone left them on, but the staff could give us no explanation as to what had happened. My guess is that they gave some new guests the key to our room by mistake and those people, once they realised it was someone else's room, simply went back to reception but failed to lock the door.

Excellent location ! Short walking distance between Bus Station and boats to Gozo, Three Cities, e.g. as well as with Valetta historic and architectural sites around. View from breakfast terrace was also exclusive. Liked the very kind personell at the reception as well as on the floor, naturally kind. Breakfast people were not happy.

Hotel building comes with history and that was felt also in the room - some things outdated. Do not approve that room cleaners with all the sheets and toiletries stay in the beautiful lobby on the floor and actually spoil the view of the interior. And cleaner's speaking loud on the phone in the lobby in the morning is disturbing sleep. Sound proof between the rooms was good, though. At breakfast some things were not working properly for 4 mornings - like toaster, another lady said it has been so for 4 years, but I hope she exaggerated.

Everyone I met (the hotel staff) during my short stay was super nice and friendly. The hotel room for the price I paid was adequate. The hotel is right next to The Upper Barrakka Gardens! I recommend to get up early before breakfast and to go and take some pictures without turists. It's beautiful. The breakfast area has a nice terrace with beautiful view! Thank to all the staff I met, they were wonderful and really helpful.

I liked everything. For such a low price it was more then I was hoping for. The hotel would probably deserve some renovasion, BUT then again.. It is really autentic and I loved it either way.

Everything, we couldn't believe our luck! What a beautiful, traditional, comfortable, 400yr old place to stay! It was exquisite. It felt very special & we were honoured to be there. The staff are just so very friendly and helpful. The rooftop restaurant for breakfast was the icing on the cake! We had views across Valetta that were spectacular. Thank you Hotel Castille!

The only thing that would have improved my stay would have been to have a kettle in my room.....I do like a cup of tea when I wake up. But I was so thrilled to be there.....

The hotel is situated next to the president building and opposite the harbour. It's five minute walk from the bus station so if your a avid explorer then it's very accessable. The hotel is an old historic building and is filled with old charm. However when booking do remember this as it not a modern and up to date hotel , the building has seen and been through alot so maybe if you want a plaza with no character then this is not for you. This hotel has got the character of an old glamorous building with marble and arches, quaint little single rooms and normal double rooms. Beautiful library and reception with a fantastic rooftop terrace and breakfast room. The rooms provide everything you need. The breakfast is continental with fresh fruit and juices, breads, meats, cheeses, cereals, yogurts and nearly a full English breakfast. Even the fussy eaters should be happy. The staff are always on hand with a smile, joke and advice. If there is a issue they are quick to fix it just inform them. This was truly one of the most memorable countries and hotels I have been to and I will be happy to come back to.

If you expect the Hilton you will be dissappointed.There are a few things that probably would benifit from upgrading but what the hell, every thing works,the price is reasonable,the staff wonderful,location fantastic,excellent breakfasts.Whats not to love? My biggest fear is that it will be sold and become another clinical hotel which they seem to have in abundance in Valletta.The Castille is a wonderful,if quirky experience and I personally count down the days till we can return to the Castille and Valletta.
