Sands Suites Resort & Spa

It is near the sea, beach and the view is incredible. Location of the rooms and the privacy was appropriate. Service around pool and sea was good and the staff were very friendly. There were many activities to do in the sea, such as stand-up pedaling and snorkeling, and no fee was charged for these activities.

Some days the sea was very dirty and smelly. Our reservation was for half board, but we learned when we got to the hotel that no drinks were included with dinner, even water. If you want to buy extra drinks (alcoholic/non-alcoholic) the prices were too high. In the morning it was forbidden to bring a bottle of water(tap water) to the table( we were a grup of 5)

We're not usually the type to rate a 10/10, but Sands Suites absolutely deserves this. Location - although a little far down the strip, you get an excellent view of Le Morne and close to Tamarin Bay for the dolphin swimming and water sports. Pool - really nice and WARM. They pump out warm water which makes it so relaxing. Rooms - incredibly spacious. Beds were very comfortable and a powerful shower. Gym - A little small but all of the equipment in there was clearly brand new Spa - Really good and cheaper compared to your average hotel. Water sports - there are many water sports that are complimentary. The boat house team are really patient with explaining how to do this. With their guidance we were able to successfully water ski on our first attempt in our lives! Snorkeling and SUP was also a favourite. Other activities - there is carrom, darts, table tennis, volleyball etc - plenty to keep you busy Saving the best two until last: Service - unbelievable. The staff take exceptional customer service to new levels that we've never seen before. Special thanks to Ashock and Christoff (the sous chefs), Ruddy (bar and beach attendant) and Shiela (housekeeping). We had mentioned to Ruddy that we really enjoyed the chillies and local guavas and he went out in his spare time outside of the hotel to obtain these for us without us asking. He would prepare sunbeds for us and our 1 year old daughter and make sure we had everything we needed. Ashock and Christoff - we mentioned to the reception team that we are vegan. They immediately arranged a meeting with the senior chef team who agreed a plan with us to cater for us. What this meant was every morning after breakfast, Ashock or Christoff would meet with us to discuss what they had planned for dinner for us in the evening. This would then be personally served to our table! Final form of praise - the food. This was absolutely incredible.

Shame we couldn't stay longer!

The Hotel is at the end of Flic en Flac so very quite, perfect place to relax! The view from the beach and pool is breathtaking to Tamarin and Mont Brabant, you cannot get enough of that view. The hotel offered extra activities for free of charge like snorkeling, SUP and even waterski (ask for Thierry, he is the best teacher if it is your first time on waterski), so we had a great time on the Ocean. From the beach you cannot go in too deep in the water so the snorkeling activity was very good to have. Breakfast and Dinner were very good; fresh food was made in front of our eyes. Cocktails were very good and beautifully designed, lot of alcohol in it. We had to pay for it, but worth the money! :) The stuff was very kind and helpful! We felt that the hotel stuff is a big family and we are part of it. My father had his birthday and he received a cake. It was so kind from the Hotel. We had an amazing time there, was difficult to pack and leave!

Regarding the Hotel everything was just fine. Only a note for those people who go there for snorkeling; in rainy season the Tamarin river brings mud in the Ocean and the visibility is not great for couple days, but this is not at all the fault of the Hotel. This is nature :)

Hotel has the best location, it is on Flic en Flac beach, where it has the best view that you can get over Le Morne. There are several big names hotel along the same beach (hilton, maravandi villas, sofitel, sugar beach, la pirogue), but none of these have the view that Sands Suites have. Also the beach is much better integrated to the hotel with the infinity pool next to it, in comparison with the other hotels, which are somehow separated hotel versus beach. Rooms are very big, very comfortable, bathroom is something special, very big, with a big dressing included, a separate (with door) wc, both shower and bath tub provided. A special note for the personnel, which are very professional, very well mannered. Sports equipment included.

Excellent service, great facilities including Tennis, spa, swimming pool, water sports. The bar area was lovely. Samuel’s Aqua aerobics class was also fun.

wine was very expensive for poor quality stuff and on occasions the cheaper options (£30!) were not available even though they were available at SuperU for around £10 so that the only option was to pay £40/£50 for poor quality wine or go without as we tended to do. Also quality of evening meal buffet main courses was not great.

Sands Suites Resort and Spa blew us away with how amazing our stay here was. Staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful and the attention to detail and care for customers was above and beyond. Staff would set your towels up for you on your sun bed in the morning, come around to clean your sunglasses, offer you a five minute massage by the pool, and we’d go away for an hour and come back to our water bottles in an ice bucket etc. The rooms were beautiful - cleaned about 3 times a day, mini fridge prices reasonable and restocked daily. The hotel had a great atmosphere and the pool never felt too busy. Activities on offer (SUP, kayak, snorkelling etc) were great and well organised. We also used the gym 3 times and it was nicely air conditioned. We had massages which were lovely and the spa and sauna area are free to use. On our check out day we were allowed to use all the facilities until our taxi came at 5:45 and they even booked us a shower room at 5pm where we were provided with towels and a lovely private space to get ready for our flight home. Everything felt like great value for money. Would not hesitate to stay here again and recommend it to family and friends. Massive thank you to all staff for how well we were looked after.

Perhaps not charging for water at dinner time would be an extra nice touch. Also cocktails and wine etc are quite steep - same as English prices but this is the case at all hotels.

We stayed at Sands for 9 nights out of a total of 20 days in Mauritius. Our stay at Sands was the most pleasant and the best experience out of all our 20 days! The beach was lovely, with comfortable sun beds and “stone walls” in the ocean contributing to calm swimming waters. Free water activities such as SUP, kayaking and water skiing, and land activities such as yoga, meditation and beach volley. The staff was super welcoming and helpful throughout our whole stay. A nice, varied buffet for breakfast and dinner. Would absolutely recommend!

Service could be a bit slow sometimes, but as we learned through our consecutive days, this is just the normal speed of things in Mauritius overall. Most likely you are never in a hurry here, so the sometimes-slow-service isn’t a big problem.

What an amazing honeymoon! From the moment we arrived, the staff were so attentive, approachable, friendly and helpful. They would go over and above to ensure that we were looked after. The rooms are much better than the pictures on booking.com, they are spacious with all appropriate facilities. Providing a bottle of water twice a day is a nice touch, but be warned the price of purchasing water at dinner is slightly ridiculous. Talking of dinner, we are both vegan and specifically came to the hotel because other reviews have commented on how well the hotel managed with other vegan guests. We were not disappointed. The daily meeting with Ashok and Jason, two chefs that we spoke to regularly about our food, was very helpful. They were excited by the challenge of preparing different food and looking after us, and we were regularly impressed by what they made for us. It was my birthday whilst we were here, and they made a very special effort to make foods that I enjoyed. This was facilitated by the Guest Relations manager, Brenda, who was lovely and attentive at every part of our holiday.

Everything was fantastic! The location of the hotel could not be better, right on the beach with stunning views across the bay. The size of the hotel was perfect too, there are never too many guests. The dining was managed very well with good quality food and enough variety to please all. The reception and serving staff are very attentive, courteous and friendly - the animators are superb, very friendly and with no pressure to join in - a big plus! The room was spacious & kept spotlessly clean, we found the bed was a little too hard after the first night so we asked for and received an extra topper which made the difference.

We considered the drink prices to be higher than expected and water is a cost option when dining.

Everything was exceptional! You can easily spend your time just at the hotel, as there are so many different activities offered for free - gym, tennis, aqua fitness, waterskiing, paddle boat, sup board, snorkelling, glass bottom boat, kayaking, bicycle tour, yoga.. you name it they have it. In the evenings there were live performances at the bar area. Staff was friendly and helpful and took extra steps to make the guests feel taken care of (such as free snacks offered by the pool, cold towels for refreshment, always asking how we’re doing, etc). Both breakfast and dinner buffee offered a good variety of foods. Beautiful beach.

Nothing much nearby - if you wish to have lunch or dinner somewhere else, then better to go by taxi or car as otherwise you’ll only find other hotels and their restaurants.
