Zander K Hotel

Both Bergen city rail & Bus station are just few steps away from the hotel, ease of check in& out process and then voila the breakfast is fantastic!

I checked in at 11pm, by that time Hotel Bar/restaurant was closed; Bergen being a city that goes to bed early , it would have been better if there was mini mart in the hotel or mini bar in the room for some snacks, but none exists

Very convenient for Bergen railway station, only 2 minutes walk, especially useful for late arrivals or early departures by train as no taxi needed for heavier cases. If a taxi is required to other parts, e.g. to the Hurtigruten dock, there is a taxi rank outside the station and almost across the road from the hotel. Only 5 minutes walk from the centre of Bergen. Very clean and comfortable with good size bathroom. Good buffet breakfast, available from 6:30 a.m. onwards. There's a small restaurant open for the late afternoon/evening. Not used but certainly convenient. The hotel has a workout room but I didn't see it. As well as the lift to all floors, there are also stairs which spiral up in concrete at the side. There's interesting history with ZanderK, well described and presented in a large book in each room.

We weren’t able to control the temperature of the room. Two of my family members wanted their rooms cooler and were unable to reduce the temperature of the room. They didn’t sleep as well as they had hoped.

The gentleman at the front desk was very helpful and was able to get us into our room a little early which was nice because it was pouring rain. Our room was nice and quiet. My spouse sleeps with 2 pillows and called the front desk and they brought one up within 10 minutes. Amazing selection of breakfast foods. Location was great as we were catching the train the next day. We also enjoyed walking around the hotel area which was close to a beautiful park, restaurants and shopping.

A few more amenities would be nice. Coffee or tea and bathroom amenities. The room was very functional but it would have been nice to have a chair to sit in vs. laying in the bed or the bench.

Excellent location. Comfortable beds. Possibility to adjust the room temperature. Very good breakfast. Clean. Possibility to leave baggage at storage for a few hours after the check out. Also, very good food at the restaurant, we had dinner there the first night.

Breakfast was very good, and there were also local products which were interesting to try. However, there wasn't any gluten-free cereal, bread, or crackers option. Although we stayed for three nights, our trash can in the bathroom was not emptied once, nor our towels changed, we were informed of this during arrival. I didn't so much mind the towels not being changed for three days, but I think it would be fast and healthier to empty the trash can and change at least the bathroom floor towel.

I was very pleasantly surprised by how safe and quiet the area was: usually areas around the central station aren't the best, but this wasn't the case! It was both super central, well connected and quiet! The whole reception, restaurant/breakfast and waiting area is very lovely and welcoming. The rooms have some fantastic pieces of design and are also very clean. Overall very good value for money!

There were some things that were definitely peculiar, like the ceiling being raw, dirty concrete. I get the stark contrast with the design items, but I'm sure it would have looked nice without nails sticking out of it :) Our room view was quite unfortunate - a concrete backyard and a view to apartments. Lastly, one of the cleaning staff from the breakfast was very insisting on both mornings we ate there: she'd be waiting and staring until we finished our coffee/water to take our cups off our hands - very weird!

Amazing breakfast! Very clean, modern. Great location - 5-10min walk into town. Across the street from the light rail and bus station.

Reception staff were not too friendly. We had a delayed flight which meant we missed our connection, taking us an additional 15 hours to get there. We arrived tired and hungry. We let the hotel know the night before this was the case. The lady at reception said “I just need your last name” and checked us in. We asked if we could get something to eat (given it was 10:36am on Saturday and we had already paid for the room) and she said breakfast closed at 10:30am but you can try. She gave us a piece of paper and our card and that was it.

Breakfast buffet was outstanding with an exceptional array of fresh, healthy foods - the best I’ve had in Europe. We had a glass of wine and dinner at the restaurant the day we got in - also delicious and served by very pleasant, friendly, and helpful staff. Location couldn’t have been better - right next to the train station, yet surprisingly quiet!!

The bathroom had a very musty, moldy, mildewed smell. It appeared that the grout in the shower was mildewed. The shower didn’t drain very effectively and also, the glass door did not keep the water from spilling to the rest of the bathroom floor. I initially thought perhaps it was just our room, but when I used the WC in the lobby area, I noticed the same smell. Perhaps it is something related to a bigger plumbing issue.

Good location, particularly convenient if arriving by train (the hotel is on the street next to the station). In some cities, the areas near train stations are often places to avoid, but there are no such concerns in Bergen. Easy 0.5 km walk to the harbour and Bryggen. Comfortable room was very good value.

The elevators worked inconsistently during our stay. Occasionally, they didn't work at all; at other times we couldn't get them to stop on our floor. It was inconvenient, but not a big deal - and actually became a bit of a joke during our stay. We never quite knew what route we would need to take to get to our room.

This hotel is very well located, just a five minute walk from both the central train station and bus station. The staff were very friendly and let us rest in the lobby for a few hours at night because we arrived much earlier than expected due to transportation problems in Norway caused by the bad weather. They kept our luggage for the whole day before the check in, the check in and check out were quick and easy. The room was confortable as well equipped, including a hair dryer. The breakfast was included and there were several options.
