NH Bilbao Deusto

Though not much to look at, the hotel is in a great location - easy to drive to, then close to the river and within an easy walk to the Guggenheim. The staff at reception were extremely friendly and very helpful (with great language skills!), recommending restaurants and even suggesting ways for us to save money on parking fees. The breakfast selection was also great and regularly replenished.

There were only a couple of things that we didn't like: first the strange way the lifts worked - only one went to the parking garage but if the other arrived first you had to change lifts on the ground floor. It would be better to have a separate call button for the lift that goes to the parking garage. Second, with very high stormy temperatures outside, and the air-conditioning only working in the bedroom, the bathroom became unbearably hot if you closed the door. Be warned if you prefer privacy in the bathroom!

We were made to feel very welcome on arrival. The reception process was smooth and efficient. The room was clean and tidy with a well appointed bathroom. Breakfast was plentiful and included cooked bacon and eggs. We had a small dog with us and we were absolutely delighted that the staff enabled us to eat our breakfast in a small area just outside the main restaurant. This meant that we didn't have to leave her in our room. Parking underground was very useful indeed. The hotel is in the centre of Bilbao and a such we were able to visit all the key tourist sites without having to rely on public transport or our car. It also meant that we were in easy reach of shopping and banking facilities.

Tea and coffee making facilities in the room would have been very useful. The hotel is in the centre of Bilbao and access to the locked car park is on a busy road. For someone visiting for the first time this was a little bit worrying as we had to 'abandon' the car on the road until the entrance gate was released. A few notes on the web site about access to car parking would be helpful.

The location is a quit street just off the river, a short walk from the Guggenheim. The Old Town is a pleasant amble along the river, half an hour if you’re a brisk walker. It’s clean and comfortable and the staff were very welcoming and helpful. There is some parking on site just be aware it’s a typical basement with steep ramps and tight spaces. We had a room next to the lift but the room had an internal door so it really didn’t bother us at all.

The location was great for the guggenheim. Public transport links to metro, tram or bus also close. The breakfast was varied and catered to vegetarians and meat eaters. Vegans would struggle. 24 hour staff were superb and incredibly helpful.

Elevator still required you to go up steps - not great for anyone requiring accessible routes. The room was still quite warm despite A/C. It would have made my stay a lot better if there was a kettle in the room.

The staff were very friendly and accommodating. They ordered our taxi and were helpful with directions and giving you a map to find your way around. The breakfast had all kinds of everything to suit all taste buds. As we had a great deal of bags we could have done with more room to move about. It is great for a short-break and you get to walk into old town and get some steps in to keep fit. Plenty of taxis to take you home safely in the night-time.

I loved Bilbao and enjoyed all the sights, the ice creams and the restaurants.

The concierge Mr. Garcia was the kindest and most helpful person I encountered on my journey. The room was large and comfortable.

The garage was private parking, but expensive and incredibly difficult to navigate without hitting something. Even with a smaller car, it's one way traffic and getting your car into a space is a mission. Getting out of your car with the inadequate spaces is another fun journey.

The hotel has a fantastic location - it's in a quiet side-street and under 10 minutes' walk to the Guggenheim Museum. The breakfast offers a spread of choices at a reasonable price - value for money.

The room had a view into the adjacent apartments' communal courtyard, so I simply never opened the curtains. Maybe I should have asked for a better room, but I overheard the receptionist tell a potential guest that the hotel is fully booked. A swop wouldn't have been possible.

The room was not too spacy, but rather clean. There was no brush for cleaning the toilet, which is strange. The location for my purposes was perfect, and very close to the airport. Breakfast was good, but no vegetables at all.

Only the reception staff speaks English. Sometimes it was challenging to communicate. Sometimes I felt it was not too well-cleaned in the rooms.

This is a modern hotel in the centre of Bilbao, within walking distance of the Guggenheim. A good stop-over on the way to the Portsmouth ferry. Rooms are comfortable with modern fixtures and the staff are very hepful. We much appreciated their help in retrieving an item which we left in our room. Parking is available but not pre-bookable.

I prefer to pre-book parking where possible. There is no restaurant, and on Mondays several local establishments were closed -so check. Good tapas available locally.

Standard level of "NH" hotel which meets their usual standards. Good level of comfort and facilities with friendly staff to boot. Room, although unspectacular, ticked all the boxes and was clean as you'd expect. There are a good number of bars and restaurants around the area and also the famous Guggenheim museum. A tram, bus and metro are also within walking distance, so your not far from anything important. A decent stay, whatever your reason.
