Hotel Ilunion San Mamés

Excelent location. There is a bus station in the basememt of the hotel. Convenient for those who need to use such services. Clean rooms.

Overpriced breakfast. There is a bar under the hotel which ofers twice as good breakfast for half a price, specialy concerning moody waiters in the hotel reataurant. Check in period takes too long.

First off, the staff was excellent in answering our questions and helping us with figuring out how and when to get to the airport. While not located in downtown Bilbao, the property is close enough to the economically-priced streetcar that the distance is negligible. (And it's a scenic walking route to downtown and the Guggenheim should one choose.) We appreciated the eco-friendly packaging of toiletries, the separate twin beds, and the heavy curtains that were effective at blocking the sunlight.

The entrance was along the side of the larger transit building and not clearly marked, and we found two different possible locations between Apple Maps and Booking.com. So although we arrived by bus, it took us a while to figure out where to go. The bath towel I got on our first night was stained, though it did not appear dirty.

A very new, very well designed and decorated hotel, with perfect breakfast and excellent rooms at a great location. The hotel has a very unique style, with its futuristic lobby area, corridors and rooms. The furniture quality in the rooms, except the bed is great. The bathroom is very nice. The breakfast is perfect and beyond expectations. Very large variety of very good quality food in a very well decorated eating area. The room service staff are great. The location is excellent, the hotel is geographically located just on the bus terminal, near metro and tram stations. Very close to Stadium San Mames, Doña Casilda Park, Zubiarte Shopping Mall. It is very easy to reach any part of the city from the hotel's location. The new and modern Ilunion Hotels, anywhere in Spain, with the breakfast and facilities is beyond any other option after our stay from my perspective.

Most of the staff at the reception could communicate, act and serve much better. Such a hotel definitely requires better reception service. The beds could be more comfortable, but still ok in overall. The toilet paper quality is below the overall quality of the hotel.

The Hotel is ideally situated for anyone wanting to travel to other main cities as there is a major bus terminal underneath the Hotel with direct - express bus services very reasonably priced. I would recommend the Airport Bus - runs every 15 Mins takes 30 mins and cost €4 each - excellent. The rooms in the hotel were spotless - well furnished - air conditioning worked a treat and no noise issues. The bathroom is compact but very functional and there is adequate storage space. The rooms are cleaned daily - clean towels and there is a safe in the room along with tea and coffee making facilities - overall an excellent property - excellent value for money and a 20/30 minutes walk to the waterfront.

Our only complaint were the lifts - they were slow at breakfast times BUT you could take the stairs - so really not a huge issue.

The hotel was clean and well located, and the room was a good size with two single beds and a good size shower. Cleaning service provided water some of the days, and the staff were helpful with most issues. Hotel also provided us with useful information about the Aste Nagusia festival that was happening during our stay.

The address we were given was for a different hotel, although we were quickly directed to the right spot. The lift was a bit slow but not terrible. Strangley, on the 3rd day of our stay, the cleaning service took a pair or pyjamas from our room. Towels were taken from the hooks for washing, and the pyjamas were taken at the same time.

Could not be closer to the bus station (zero noise from there, although some of the rooms will overlook the main plaza & an active building site (in summer 2023). 10 minutes walk from nice areas of bars, only about 15 minutes from the Guggenheim. Chilled water & nibbles were a nice touch in the lobby. Absolutely fine in terms of cleanliness & quietness for the room we had, even more so if you need to access buses.

The lifts are slow & rather unpredictable in their movements: prepare to be delivered to random floors or parking garages. We never found the 'third elevator' marked on the signs; patience is a virtue, as they say.

The hotel is right above the city's modern bus station. I had low expectations because usually properties near transport don't really try to impress travellers. The staff were quite friendly and helpful. There was a variety of food at the breakfast buffet. The room was spacious and comfortable and there was ample room for two people and luggage. The hotel was also located very close to the tram which had a direct line to the Guggenheim Museum and the Old Town.

No complaints. It was a very pleasant stay. If anything, it was a little far from the Guggenheim Museum and the Old Town but it was very well connected via the tram anyway.

The room was excellent, really spacious and comfortable. The breakfast was also really good.

Our toilet wasn’t properly clean when we arrived in the room which was not nice at all. We arrived in the breakfast 30 minutes before their closing time because we fell asleep, we planned on eating fast since we only had a short amount of time. The servers were super rude and just told us to take the things we wanted to as fast as possible because they were going to start to remove everything. Since I mention when making the reservation that I was vegan and at this time there were no vegetables or fruit left we just left and we didn’t eat anything.

Everything was fine. The room was spacious and quiet and the bed was comfortable. All appliances worked very well and were very useful. The staff was very friendly and helpful, the cleaning was done every day and the breakfast was awesome. Additional plus for the location close to the bus station, the metro and the football stadium.

Not a fan of the "open shower" concept, but no real issues there really. A bit of of a queue occasionally for the elevators, but nothing that could not be managed.

This is an ultra-modern, tourist and business traveler-oriented hotel. The lobby was packed with a large tour group in the morning. The reception clerk was pleasant and had good English. The room I had was small but thoughtfully and efficiently laid out and furnished, similar in effect to a Tokyo business hotel I stayed in. The toilet and large, walk-in shower are separated from the room and lavatory by a sliding glass divider. Side-by-side single beds, a large flat-screen TV, standard, modest furnishings with a desk, a modern easy chair pretty much fill the space. Thete is adequate lighting and ample electrical outlets including USB. Location is the prime attraction with access to the Intermodal Station including local and intercity buses, the airport bus, trains, the metro, and a nearby stop on the modern tram line running to the west and north and the Guggenheim Museum. The stadium is a short walk. This convenience is especially important for a short.stay and because of Bilboa's often-rainy weather. The main part of the downtown is within walking distance. I did not take the breakfast but ate at the large and pleasant cafe just off the main entry to the station where I got a cafe con leche and a slice of torta for under five Euros. An excellent value in a specific travel niche.
