Masd Mediterraneo Hotel Apartamentos Spa

The staff are fabulous the breakfast selection was very good The position of the Hotel was perfect 👌

The only negative was the noise from aircraft flying into Barcelona Airport. But we got used to it so it didn't spoil the Holiday and we would definitely go back

We had booked a room with a sea view, but when we arrived I don’t think they had one left. But we were offered an upgrade to a room with access to a private pool (well, shared by 6 rooms). The room had a large terrace (twice the size of the balconies) and a glass door opened literally onto the pool. We stepped from our room directly into water! Sterling. Also had free beach towels and no quibble daily room service. Breakfast was excellent with Serrano ham, cooked ham, wafer thin turkey, Catalan sausage, scrambled egg, mini sausages, bacon, a selection of breads and toast, a selection of fruit, tomato, two different cheeses, you get the drift. You can also order omelette or pancakes as well (or instead if you are not as greedy as me). Well worth 12€. You can pick up the L95 bus to Place Catalunya in Barcelona from right behind the hotel, which is within walking distance of Sagrada Familia and La Boqueria and gothic town, or the L94 takes you to Place Espania, where you can shop at Arenas de Barcelona and connect with the L150 direct to Castel Montjuïc (then get the cable car back down). All bus fares 2.40€, regardless of distance. Journey takes approx 40 mins either way. Oh, and spare some time to actually unwind in Castelldefels itself. Glorious long beach with excellent beach bars and restaurants. A beautiful place to unwind in between the hustle and bustle of Barca.

What was there not to like?

Very nice hotel, divided into two parts with three pools (beautiful and clean main pool). Very good breakfast, very wide offer, beautifully prepared fruit. The originally assigned room was exchanged by the very helpful receptionist for another one with a beautiful direct view of the sea. Coffee machine in the room (capsules can be purchased for 0,90 EUR at the reception). You can buy wine and soft drinks at the reception, and there is a machine for drinks and coffee at the reception. Very close to the beach. Responsiveness with the addition of a second blanket.

Originally assigned room with non-working internet connection and non-working TV. Problems with the TV removed by replacing the driver. The next day, however, they moved us to another room, because the connection problems could not be resolved. The receptionist who accommodated us was rude when he told us that what would we expect when the internet is free. Unfortunately, there is no shop nearby (nearest 1,5 km).

Super hotel. I strongly recommend. Clean, quiet, big bed, aircon working properly, coffee, tea and water available into the room. We been in a bedroom with views to the swimming pool and beach. Bus stop to Barcelona just 5min walking and takes only 40min. Lovely trip by the way. Bus very clean and the price is just €2.40 one way. We went now in April, so not very, very hot for swimming in the sea so we been swimming in the heated swimming pool they have. Lovely and really warm.

They have a door with mirror into the room and I felt a bit uncomfortable about that...This door is there without reason, right in front the bed....

The staff were very friendly and very helpful, whenever we had a query or a problem, they were there to help. The room was very comfortable and the facilities were great. The location is brilliant for beach and bar/restaurant access too. It was really quiet around the neighborhood too which was relaxing.

No real complaints really, we would have liked a kettle (we were self catering) and had to use a pan but it was no real problem. Had some noisy neighbours but again, nothing to blame on the hotel.

The studio was spacious and had lots of natural light, which was great. We also loved the balcony with partial sea views. It is generally well equipped but could do with some refurbishment. Otherwise, it is a lovely place to stay. We loved the pool to have a swim.

Unfortunately, it was not all very clean, there was dirt and hair on the bathroom floor when we arrived and the sink and shower were quite stained. The cutlery also needed washing before use as it was greasy and stained. The kitchen cover is quite old and very stained and it would be good to change it. The shower door did not close and the water flooded the bathroom. There is also a very sharp edge on the kitchen cupboards and I banged my head very badly on two occasions (and still have a bruise...). It would be good to protect this edge, as it is at a very dangerous height for people who are not very tall, and it is "accessible" from the side, so it's easy to overlook.

Fab location just a couple minutes walk away from the beutiful beach and restaurants and great facilities. The outdoor pool was quiet and peaceful which is often usually a rarity in prime holiday locations like this!! Staff were friendly and helpful, room was a great size and had a massage which was a lovely way to end our holiday!

The shower could do with some mould spray but was still an amazing strong shower and nice and roomy so not a big issue at all!

Staff was really friendly, flexible and helped a lot. Something that not many holiday accomodations have, it was really nice to see. From reception, cleaning staff to service staff, everyone was helpful and really friendly towards the young children as well. Staff is definitely the best part of this accomodation! Also, we really appreciated their flexibility and their solution oriented mindset, which helped to make our stay very convenient with 4 children, and also larger family, including grandma and parents siblings.

Some design in the rooms could be better and the equipment sometimes tricky to get working (like room safe) but most issues can be solved, just flag it to staff. Some cupboards, washing machine were not in their best shape, but still functional.

Really enjoyed the pool area. Was right across from the beach and there are lots of places nearby to eat, a 20/25 min walk there is a whole strip of great restaurants to choose from. Staff were very friendly and accommodating. We stayed in an apartment which we highly recommend, spacious and great views.

This hotel isn’t close to Barcelona city, but we found it great to be away from the hustle/bustle. A cab is around 40-50 euros. The sun beds I thought could have been more comfortable and you have to loan a beach towel and pay each time you wish to clean them, although not for a huge amount of money.

We had a really lovely stay at Masd Mediterraneo. The beds were super comfortable and our apartment was right next to the covered pool, which was great for the kids. We were able to swim through the rainy days as well. The pool could have opened earlier, my mother loves to swim first thing in the morning but this was not possible when the pool only opens at 10. In hindsight we could have rented a car to explore a bit more and make things a bit easier (particularly flights to Girona were tricky when our departure was early in the day - commuting requires several transfers and taxi is expensive), but there is a bus stopping about 250 meters from the hotel to the City Center of Barcelona which takes an hour. We can warmly recommend and would consider coming back to Masd Mediterraneo in the future!

The pools could have longer opening hours. There was no restaurant open in the hotel.
