Catalonia Plaza Mayor

- Arrival checkin was quick and easy, the reception staff ensured we could get our room earlier than official checkin - Bed and pillows were great, mattress may be too firm for some but were perfect for us - Great bathroom amenities, luxurious towels and great showers with excellent water pressure - Housekeeping were great and in the evening left a chocolate with the turndown service - Breakfast was amazing! Lots of fresh and tasty options, everything you could want was available on the buffet - LOCATION! We arrived by train into Atocha, walked easily to the hotel. Great food options surround this hotel, we loved the location!!!

Location very close to the Metro and the Ferreteria restaurant!

It is not really as close to the Plaza Mayor as the name should indicate... (11 blocks away). But the location is very good anyway for a city the size of Madrid.

Friendly staff from the beginning. Greeted upon check-in and availability was made for an early check-in. Bar staff were absolutely lovely, was always nice to unwind in the hotel bar at the end of the night with a glass of soft drink.

No problems whatsoever. Cheaper options are available but not at this quality. Don't make the mistake of buying a 7-day pass for transport if you're staying here, a lot to do within walking distance with various museums and parks nearby.

perfect location, walking distance to museums and restaurants. very close to metro stations and the Renfe train station. very trendy area with lots to see within minutes on foot.

The only negative at this very nice hotel is the absolutely pitiful quality of Wi-Fi. I was here for six nights and it endlessly was cutting in and out and providing very slow service at times, sometimes it just locked up completely. For a property that cost more than $100 a night in the middle of a major metropolitan city, the Wi-Fi has to be of good quality, and it wasn’t.

The place is well located and nice hotel. Room was decent size and nice. Breakfast was decent and lot of choice.

We had problem with checkin where we got there at 11am and the room was not ready. They told us 1pm so we went out and came back and it was not ready.. they said 3pm.. it went to 4pm.... i did not appreciate this but management was nice about this. The problem we also had was noise of some kind of on the construction on the stair and our room was next to stair. They were doing some work from 9am to 5pm with constant noise with sanding,,etc.. this was very annoying... especially in the morning. Management acknowledge the problem and did appolize but that about it.

Well air conditioned. The room (suite) had everything we needed - comfortable bed, in-room safe and room in honor bar fridge for our food, living room space with electric kettle and espresso maker, large bathroom. The water with infused fruit was a nice touch, and the gym and breakfast were handy.

Pricey. Expensive breakfasts, too. Also, some of the front desk staff weren’t very helpful. However, if you’ve got the money, this is a lovely hotel. (note that the nearby Metro line is out of service, but that’s hardly the hotel’s fault)

We stayed here to run in the marathon. Clean rooms, friendly helpful staff. Beds were comfortable. We had two rooms a double and a triple. The double felt more spacious with a lot more natural light as it looked to the terrace with a window to the bathroom. The triple felt smaller but that is to be expected as a temporary bed was provided. The triple faced the street which is very nice. The location was perfect for the centre, metro, shops and any number of restaurants. We were up too early so didn't have breakfast in the hotel. This hotel really served our needs and as a group I think we would return.

If I was pushed to improve one thing maybe the glass door to the bathroom. This was in the triple room with a gap around the perimeter so it didn't fill the door frame. This is a very small personal thing to highlight when the overall experience of staff , location and ambience of the hotel were great.

Very friendly and helpful staff - Room was very comfortable - Breakfast was good - Hotel is very good located to the center of Madrid so that we could visit all interesting places by feet - Parking is possible in a car park around 300 m away with a special discount by the hotel, in front of the hotel you can deload and reload the car and at the reception you will get a description of the way to the car park when you will arrive

Overall breakfast was good but the choice was a bit limited and all the day the same

We were upgraded to a suite which we were very thankful for. The room was very spacious and comfortable which a very large bed. The living area had a sofa bed that could have slept another person . Unfortunately no gown or slippers but I guess if I asked I would have got them but would have been nice to be in the room . There was an exercise bike too . The location of the property is amazing serving three museums 15 minutes walk away, main line and metro stations , restaurants bars and coffee shops. Close to Sol, Grand Via and Plaza Mayor but tbh everything is no more than a 30 min walk max . We didn’t spend long enough at the hotel but they do offer breakfast and other facilities in the hotel of which we didn’t have time to use. highly recommend. I have stayed in all the Catalonia hotels on Calle de Atocha and this one was the best all rounder .

The only draw back of that particular room is there was not much natural light, very small windows for the size of room.

Very nice hotel. Great location. Breakfast is wonderful. Fresh orange juice every morning. Eggs cooked at your own taste. Wonderful selection of cheeses and pastry! Croissants are to die for!! So fluffy with a variety of jams. Staff is very helpful especially Veronica at front desk. They go out of their way to help you. There is a soup and sandwich restaurant across the street called Zuppa. Very convenient. And a small supermarket close by.

I wish they kept the cold water in the lobby 24 hours. It was very tasty but they remove it in the evening.
