Stay KooooK Bern City - Online Check In

An extraordinarily cozy place, with super nice hosts. The room was very small but so optimally designed that it was very comfortable. Location was excellent, right at the heart of the old town, tons of restaurants and bars, and within walking distance from all touristic spots.

Just a silly thing. In this part of the world, the ground floor is zero, not one as I'm used to. When buzzing in from the street to get in the building the first day, the host (there is no reception) answered "Sure, I will help you on the first floor". After spending a couple of minutes there, I realized she meant for me to go UP one floor to meet her. Silly, right?

I loved the design details at Stay Kooook Bern City (from the colours to the soft furnishings). I chose a cosy room and loved that I had everything I needed in a small space. I also loved all of the shared spaces - the concept as a 'home from home' worked for me. Also, my room overlooked the shopping street, yet it wasn't noisy. This building has a rooftop worth visiting for the view and a glorious stairwell.

I was a bit paranoid that I would run out of phone battery and not be able to get in, but I expect that there is a solution for this if it happens to you. Also, if I wasn't travelling solo, I would not choose a cosy room unless you're very comfortable in small spaces with your partner.

The open/shared area at 1st floor. Simple & modern design inside the room. The simple check-in website (dependency is guest must have prior roaming data plan where Switzerland is expensive).

The shower area is a bit messy where whole floor area get wet which is not ideal during winter. Loud noise from the bar at ground floor throughout the night. Lack of dustbin in the room. Purely rely on one small bin inside the toilet and inconvenience as need to enter toilet every time need to throw a trash(the wet & cool floor in toilet is not helping at all). Lack of hanger to hold jacket and winter clothing. The website/App for check-in/out, key and others functions to be improved. English version or selection is not easy to find and experience intermittently problem where only half of the item displayed in English but the rest continues in a language that unknown. Lack of introduction to the open/shared area for new guest where exploring is a bit challenging at the beginning.

Beautiful and functional design. I had a 11 sqm room and it felt much, much bigger. Also, the common area is awesome ! I also loved the fact that the keys are on your phone- very practical as you have free wifi as soon as you are in the hotel.

I would have loved a reading lamp or the possibility to turn on and off the lights from the bed- there is a pole with what looks like a lamp close to the bed, but there was no light( it was just for design?) and it was placed at the end of the bed( so, even if lit, Im not sure it could have provided for a reading lamp.) Also, this pole was moving with some bizzare sound each time I would sit on the bed.

Location is spot on. Few minutes walk from the Train Station and is really at the center of the must sees in Bern. Checking-in online was a little tedious for me, but were compensated with the easiness of actual check-in (I'm old school that's why and still prefer the old fashion way of being greeted when you check in :). Beds and pillows were divine. The mess hall/reception/common area located at the 1st floor with perks provided i.e. free coffee, fruits, biscuits were really a big plus. Staff (at the 1st floor common area) were helpful.

I got there really early on my day of check-in and originally wouldn’t have been able to check-in til 3pm. However a guest had checked out earlier and they quickly tidied up the room to accommodate me. It was super appreciated after a night of interrupted sleep on an overnight bus. The rooms may be a bit smaller than usual but I loved the communal space and kitchen as somewhere to relax and also meet other guests. You can use the fridge for groceries, and they have cooking facilities as well.

As my room was on the first floor and facing the street, I was woken up by the garbage collection in the morning.

Staff were friendly and patient with language barriers. Decor is very lovely throughout the venue. Clean and tidy throughout the shared spaces. View from the roof top is fabulous 👌

The showers in the rooms are see through into the bedroom. No good for friends or siblings who share a room. One had to leave the room while the other showers. I would like bookings.com to send better information about the registration process and the sites App, hard to figure out, but once done, it is great.

Friendly staff. Good bathroom, comfortable bed. Attractive shared facilities: well equipped open kitchen with dining space, spacious sitting room, a reading room, game room, and a roof terrace with a view. A nice bakery and a good supermarket can be found across the road for supplies.

Although the function of the small room was well-designed overall, the bed was placed right in the middle, leaving very little space to move around. The muzak piped into the shared living space seemed quite loud at night.

The room is quite spacious (not what I would expect from a room labelled as "cozy") and the bed quite comfortable. The sound-proofing of the hotel is quite good and you cannot hear anything from the street. The common area for breakfast and hanging out is a great feature as well as the rooftop.

The whole concept of no-staff hotel and self check-in takes some getting used to. As I booked three separate rooms for me and my colleagues, I wasn't sure until the last minute whether my colleagues were also checked in and to get to their rooms, they didn't receive any confirmation.

Our room was ready very early in the morning without extra charges, which was really helpful. The location is super, very close to the old town with the free market and restaurants within walking distance. It is also very close to the train station. The building is beautiful, especially inside. There is also a shared kitchen where we enjoyed our coffee, snacks and fruits. We got support from fellow hotel guests which was very nice experience despite there were no hotel staff around. The hotel is managed with advanced technology and we got our "keys" online. Really like the way they organise and manage the hotel. The hotel definitely made our stay in Bern an unforgettable one.
