B&B Guest House Du Lac

Nice suite with kitchen & separate bedroom. Wonderful amenities. Comfy bed, nice linens. Everything very recent. Lovely breakfast with many nice options. (Loved the tomatoes & mozzarella ) Bus stop in front! Take the bus from the train, it's a good walk with luggage. The waterfront walk along lake is beautiful. Big fan and windows it was warm for part of my stay, mid Sept this worked

Not much, here's some considerations & helpful ideas. Interesting old building...no elevator. Staff was happy to help with my suitcase on arrival & departure. Thanks!!! There's a train right in front, Swiss trains run very frequently. Most trains were short and moved quickly thru. Google maps walked me uphill from the waterfront. If you stay on the lower street the reception entry is tucked back from the bus stop! You don't need to take the uphill route and the door up there is not the reception point. There's a newer building that blocks most of the lake view, at least from my room there was only a very tiny water view. Obviously none of this is controllable by B & B du lac I would stay here again!

The fellow who worked the front office and did the welcome and the breakfast was amazing. So friendly. He carried our big suitcases up 2 flights of stairs, showed us everything, was very helpful if we needed anything. The kitchen, breakfast, and bathrooms were great. Although we had to share 2 separate toilets and one tub and shower room, it was usually not a problem. The mattresses were very comfortable and the pullout couch was decent enoughl for 2 teens. But, the room was very hot! We had a fan in the window.. had rude neighbours the first night but everyone else staying there seemed very friendly. Plus,it was right across the street from a swimming spot. Not a beach for little kids but great for teens to jump in off the dock place.

The pillows were thin. A bit of a walk from the main train station.

The property is in a great location for exploring the area. When we arrived we were greeted by an amazingly friendly gentleman, who made check in really easy and very quick. Parking is available either on the top road for 3 hours free, or they also have a limited number of parking spaces for the guest house. Breakfast was great and a huge selection, but make sure you get there early before it runs out! When we arrived and we’re given the tour, we were amazed at how spotlessly clean it was. Considering a lot of shared areas, I can’t fault it - especially the bathroom, pristine!

We were in room 11 - it was fine for us because we’re heavy sleepers but just be aware - the room is next to the train tracks, you are on the same level as them and can practically touch them from your window. This room was also opposite the communal kitchen, so if you’re unlucky with inconsiderate guests, this could be a problem. We also found the pillows to have no stuffing, so pretty much redundant

A friendly and informative welcome. Le patron carried our baggage up 2 floors to our studio appartment. Breakfast was good as were the amenities in the appartment.. Could clearly see the lake from room Public transport link into town was a 50 metre walk away, buses frequent.

Guest house is right by main railway line so there was a lot of train noise but got used to it. There isn't any air con and the temeratures were high but with windows wide open it was bearable. Building is old so doesn't have lift but as our bags were carried up for us it was only a bit of a task getting them down again.

LOCATION: Exceptionally good. The Bus #201 stops in front of the B&B (“Bon Port” Gare - both directions) and in 4 stops at your right bound you are in the Train Station (about 6 minutes). In few stops to the left to are in Chillon Castle (an amazing medieval architectural treasure) Free tickets for public transportation and several perks and benefits as price deductions for many activities and services. BREAKFAST: Incredible in variety of top quality food (everything you may imagine: huge variety of milk products (yogurt, cheeses, butter, etc) fruit and veggies’ juices, deli and meats (sausages, etc.), 3 types of quality bread, cereals, huge variety of fresh fruits, eggs in different preparations, raw fish, bocconcini/tomatoes/ basil salad, great variety of teas, coffees, jams, brioches, madeleines, fruit pies, sweet bakery, etc, etc. 24 hrs available: coffee and teas variety, cold sparkling water in the breakfast area. INDIVIDUAL FRIDGE, tea/coffee maker in every room. Available: Well equipped Kitchen, spacious fridge. BEDS: very comfortable. CLEANLINESS: spotless rooms, bathrooms, halls…. STAFF: Reception, administration and general staff: very efficient, professional and kind.

The trains running close to the building - but after a busy day you fall sleep soon and don’t hear them any longer :)

It was an amazing place. Located not far from the lake and all main sights in Montreux, this guest house provides everything you might want: nice rooms with beds, wardrobe, TV, teapot and cups, small shampoos and toothpaste, bathrobes; great bathrooms, laundry room, several kitchens with all the dishes and cutlery, terrace, game room. The breakfast is amazing with a lot of hot and cold dishes, fruit, vegetables, tea, coffee and so on. The owners are really friendly and always want to help. Also they provide Riviera cards which give you free bus and train tickets all over the region and a lot of discounts.

The only thing we didn't like were the trains that were right next to our window. They were very noisy day and night. But it was the cheapest room in the town and all other things were really great so it's fine.

It’s very close from the lake, so great walks, in 10 minutes you’re in the heart of Montreux. There’s a bus stop literally in front of the hotel, which is free thanks to the Montreux Riviera Card, very practical when you need to go somewhere. In the house there’s also a kitchen, well furnished, and a washing machine with a dryer. A large choice of foods for breakfast, with some homemade cakes like tiramisu or cheesecakes ! Everything is really clean. The host is also super nice and very helpful !

There’s a railway under its windows, so you can hear the train all day and all night long of you’re noise sensitive. I used earplugs so I wasn’t disturbed (there’s some in the room if you forgot yours). Also, my tool had to share a bathroom, the people were nice so there wasn’t any problem, but it can still be problematic if you need to use the toilets in a hurry and someone’s already in the shower !

Wonderful, friendly host who accommodated our comfort needs perfectly. Breakfast was wonderful, a large choice and homegrown basil on the mozzarella and tomatoes. Modern, renovated, clean place to stay. Very close to the Promenade walk around the lake. Easy walk into town, or to a bus stop. Easy walk to Chateau Chillon if you're a good walker, otherwise the bus is right there. This place provided us with so many "extras" that we did not get in other places, for example, a robe and slippers, biscuits and coffee, all shower supplies.

This B&B is situated next to the rail line which may bother some people. We were not comfortable with the train noise and our host very willingly moved our room. The number of positive aspects of this place outweighs the train, in my opinion. There is not a lift/elevator. You may have to climb several flights of stairs, depending on your room. However, our host carried our bags for us when we arrived and we didn't have a problem. You should know that there are 2 entrances to the B&B. The reception is located on the bottom floor, outside, next to the exit door. If you enter the B&B at the top entrance, just keep on walking downstairs, exit the building and the reception office is right there, next to the exit door.

This was a super Guest House in great location right off the beautiful promenade on lake Geneva. The guest house is in an historic building. Your room is off a hallway across from a large bathroom. Two rooms to share one bathroom. There is a large kitchen for cooking, a comfortable garden area, and a game room with a pool table and a Pac-Man station. Tom is very pleasant. He serves an incredible breakfast. The rooms a pleasant size, nicely decorated and beds are super comfortable.

Yes the train goes by. Yes you hear it but I slept well both nights with the earplugs offered. It was not annoying. No whistles.

The host was very friendly and helpful, the bed was comfortable and the room nicely decorated. We were glad that sharing a bathroom wasn't a problem. The breakfast was abundant and good. We enjoyed going out to the balcony to eat breakfast in the fresh air and meeting the many international guests that were there at the same time that we were. We loved the location- just a short walk to get to the bus (all free with the convenient Riviera Pass) and down to the lake with it's lovely flowered walkway.

We had a great stay, so only that I didn't care for the coffee offered.
