The room was comfortable. The staff were exceptional, they could not do enough for you and they were always smiling. The restaurant was amazing. Congratulations to the chef. Even if you don't stay here you must come and have dinner here.

The only criticism would be that the rooms only had a portable air conditioner in them and it was a hot weekend. It took too long to cool down the room.

Room. was basic, but great location. Food at the pub was fantastic and the brekkie at the adjoining cafe was excellent.

A few minor tweaks could make the rooms more comfy. Add a chair so there is somewhere to sit other than the bed. A small table next to the bed (or shelf) to put glass of water or phone on. A few hooks in the bathroom would have been handy, also no soap dish or rack for anything in the shower. The lower shelf on the open vanity/washbasin was very dusty and the only place to put your clothes.

The bathroom and shower were excellent, bedroom a bit tiny. Bed very comfy.

I would have liked the bedside table next to the bed! A bedside lamp would have been good. Maybe a ‘dumb waiter’ to take the luggage up and down the very steep stairs. Otherwise it was a very pleasant experience, also the coffee niche down the road was a bonus each morning.

Great staff, beautiful meals & walking distance to everything. The Staff were extremely accomodating & helpful! Downstairs the hotel is very well presented.

The portable aircon was extremely noisy, our bathroom can't have been cleaned well as there was mould in majority of the tile cracks and grout. Also a used soap on top of the shower head. Which was a let down. We also had to request extra pillows as the room only came with 2 and the milk for coffees was off and curdled.

Location was excellent, no chef Monday morning to order hot breakfast and I don’t eat bread, but I understand there was no chef as not many people booked in for Sunday night and weekend was very busy

Next time we will make sure we book a room that is up against the wall. We are in our 70’s my husband got a cramp in his leg and very hard to get out of bed when you are in pain. We will book again as it is very Central

It was exactly what I wanted. Close to where I needed to be. Small but comfortable room. Walking distance (20 min) from the train station. Comfy and warm with heater and electric blanket. Perfect for winter!

While providing the basics, it could have had a few other comforts. Eg, extra pillow, face washer and hand towel which were not supplied.

Breakfast was good for my partner but the wait for me was too long and I left with no breakfast. On this particular Saturday morning some people waited over an hour. The restaurant had excellent food and service was great

How my partner got his breakfast and I watched him eat and left without mine even though we had paid for mine as the 1 hr plus was too long as we had a commitment

Our stay was 1 night only - a quick family reunion visit. We have stayed here before. We found the location to the train station and downtown is very convenient. Some of the rooms are dated but overall the building appears to be in the process of modernising. The hotel provides efficient service, great value re the rooms and has the convenience of having a restaurant within. Would recommend this hotel to anyone who is looking for value for money.

Our bathroom was a little dated however we overlooked this as we know the standard of other rooms we had stayed in at this Hotel that had been modernised. This in no way impaired our opinion of The George....

The location to town was great. The restaurant was lovely with quick service. Breakfast at the adjoining café was nice food and very reasonable on price. Thought that it could be a little noisy being above a pub, but was pleasantly surprised by the lack of noise.

Would be nice if they had larger bed options, would not mind additional cost for this to be available.

Location great in walking distance to most venues. Room service was good with clean towels every day and the staff were lovely an very accommodating. Very quiet even on a Saturday night.

Stairs a bit steep when trying to carry luggage up. Only 1 key for 4 people was a bit challenging.
