Hotel Stadt Melk

The hotel sits next to Melk's monastery in the plain centre of the small town. The private and free car parking was for us the criteria for our booking. Service is good and open-minded. The booking.com website made me reserve the wrong type of room, and it was easily corrected on the spot!

My bad, I didn't read the breakfast's timing carefully and showed up 10 minutes after the end (9 o'clock). While I am the faulty one, this was slightly frustrating. Nevertheless, they offered still something, which is much appreciated. We made a small walk up to the street to enjoy a lovely breakfast in a bakery.

The hotel's location is truly ideal, situated right in the heart of the city centre and boasting a breathtaking view from the windows. One of the major factors influencing our choice to stay here was the availability of private parking. The staff is extremely amiable, and the rooms are both impeccably clean and generously spacious – precisely in line with our expectations, offering exactly what we desired.

The hotel is very well located and has private parking. The room was nicely furnished and very clean, the bed was comfortable and the view from the window was really nice. The gentleman at the reception was kind and friendly, his colleague who assisted us at the breakfast was also very kind and helpful. Breakfast was varied and excellent, with tasty French brie, somon, sourdough bread and organic fruit.

There's so much to like about this hotel. The location can't be beat, the hotel sits right below the Abby. My room was spotless and very comfortable. The gentleman that worked at the desk was very gracious, and went out of his way to make us feel comfortable. I would definitely stay here again.

The staff are absolutely wonderful. We felt right at home. Everything clearly explained. As we opted for a budget room, we were skeptical. Luckily, it was impeccably clean and overall great value for money. And then there is the location… simply Wow! Right at the foot of Stift Melk.

You could hear the noises and talking at the front desk at times, which can be annoying for late sleepers. Coming late to breakfast is also a bad idea - since some food items can run out. But that is also our fault :-) would definitely stay here again!

The rooms are all named after fruit and tastefully decorated according to their name.. Breakfast is lavish, but, unfortunately, the buffet is cleared at 9 o'clock. We were originally booked in a budget room under the gables. Luckily, we could pay the difference and stay a superior room on sight.

The hotel is perfect: clean, nice rooms, with a 'family' and local touch, great breakfast, and in the middle of the town. The abbey, the main sightseeing of this town, is just around the corner. And what beautiful views, from the Wachau, Donau, the abbey, its garden...

The rooms are named after local fruits :). It was a large, comfortable room with a view toward the old center - the Plaza of the Townhall of Melk. The breakfast included a large variety of cheeses, salami/ham, smoked salmon, some nicely arranged vegetables and two types of salad, many fruits, cereals, beverages - in a fewer words, all you need to feel satisfied! I dearly recommend! They have a parking lot.

I regretted we did not stay longer. Next time we will book a room here for a vacation time. I can't say something was undesirable.

Great location, with excellent staff. We were able to rent bikes right there and received great advice for our ride along the Danube.

One bike needed some maintenance, so the chain fell off. We got it back on, but some tools would have helped. Reported this to staff.

We had an excellent experience. The room was very clean, we had a room with a gorgeous view. The hotel is in the heart of the city. The breakfast was very tasty, I felt like I was in France. The hotel has a private parking. The owners and the staff of the hotel were very nice and helpful, they explained to us what we must see around Melk,(like Spitz, Aggstein Ruine, Durnstein) how can we get their by bus or boat or car, where are the best places to eat, what we should visit. We will definitely come back!
