Amazing location with great views and good proximity to downtown Ukee and excellent walking trails. This is definitely an excellent option if you're put off by the ridiculous hotel pricing in nearby Tofino. Our suite was large and very well-equipped, and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend staying here. I'd also suggest trying the Currents restaurant during your stay, it was a definite highlight of our stay - the food, service, and the ambiance were excellent.

The mosquitoes were a pain, but the hotel does provide citronella bug spray. Bizarrely, only one set of patio doors had a mosquito screen though, which didn't make a lot of sense to us, and seems like an obvious fix. We were also surprised our room didn't have AC. A few other areas of modernisation like USB charging for example would be nice, and the hotel exterior would benefit from some kind of covering or lean-to to accommodate diners outside when it's raining during peak season. Trying to get something to eat or drink on our first night was a nightmare after a long drive!

The room was lovely. Big unit with kitchenette, separate bedroom and large bathroom. Loved the big windows and view. The staff was helpful and pleasant.

The bedroom was too hot. We would have slept much better if there had been a screen on the window. We had to use the fan but it was too noisy and too windy even on low. Guests should be instructed not to bring 8 week old puppies. The first night there, there was one on the patio with a large family gathering and it proceeded to have a huge poop right beside our table. Who brings an untrained, young puppy to a beautiful resort? Maybe something like "Well mannered, trained dogs welcome" We were very happy to find a resort such as the Black Rock Oceanside Resort that allows dogs so we would like to see that opportunity remain. Our small dog loved it and we loved having her with us.

We arrived for our stay in a non-air-conditioned apartment on one of the hottest days of the season. So we upgraded to an apartment with AC and a partial sea view. Unfortunately, the AC kept going off and after many tries, the maintenance crew was unable to fix the problem. The good news is that the resort helped us move into a beautiful full sea-view apartment for no extra cost and gave us an extra night since we’d lost an entire day with waiting and moving, etc. They were extremely responsive to the situation and made our stay exceptional. We ended up staying four nights in this very comfortable apartment. The apartment was spacious and very clean, the bed was super comfortable and the bathroom had a beautiful soaking tub that we enjoyed using. The kitchen had everything we needed. We appreciated the microwave to heat up leftovers. The location is great, just a short walk into the center of Ucluelet and right on the Wild Pacific Trail. We hope to go back as we loved both Ucluelet and the Black Rock Resort.

Everything was good. I didn’t like that there was no outdoor patio that we could take our dog on. You promote the facility as a dog friendly facility, but then we had to eat in our room all the time because we couldn’t leave the dog in the room and there was nowhere to enjoy dinner on a patio

I didn’t like being charged $50 pet fee for a little 10 pound Pomeranian that did no harm whatsoever to the room. You don’t charge extra for kids who potentially can color on the walls and pee on the bed so I feel like it’s an unfair expense for nothing. We are respectable pet owners that pick up after our pet and she doesn’t cause any extra work for anybody so why the $50 fee when it already cost us over $1200 for three nights?

The view from our balcony was fabulous. On 1 day we were treated to an eagle landing in a tree. The kitchenette was handy for breakfast. Bathrobes , flashlight for emergency preparedness, full length mirror. The security box was appreciated although location below knee level made setting a security code difficult.

Under counter lighting in the kitchenette was missing a bulb. Toilet paper holder was broken allowing paper to fall off. Make up mirror location on bathroom counter was too le to be functional and lighting too little. Uncomfortable seating on the balcony. No toilet brush provided for cleaning toilet bowl.

We came for our honeymoon. Loved the layout of the suite. We were in room 106 and it felt very private on the end and cozy.

The TV was a pain at times it was really finicking with setting up the channels and took time to figure it out. It was nice you could pivot it to watch in bed but you had to get out of the bed to change the channel as it wasn’t lined up with the sensor. The bathroom window was cool at first to watch tv from the bath but did not make the bathroom very sound proof or good for privacy. Shampoo and soap pumps were located in the shower only this made it difficult to wash hair in the bath tub we had to pump it out onto a plate.

Great views from the balcony over the black rocks to the Pacific Ocean. Spacious apartment with self catering facilities, although we were there for just one night so didn’t use the kitchen apart from the kettle which was very much appreciated for my cup of tea. The bed was very comfortable and the picture window looked out to the views also. We enjoyed the bar and friendly staff.

We needed to use the hotel restaurant because walking to the little town was too far. The restaurant was rather chilly when we arrived. The menu was the same as in the bar which had a better atmosphere but very busy. The restaurant gets booked up & only a late table was offered.

We had a one bed suite which meant plenty of room for my husband , teen daughter and i. Large bedroom with a really comfy bed , daughter said sofa bed was ok. Great to have a little kitchen and the view from the balcony was superb. Nice big bathroom with a great shower

The window partition between the bedroom and bathroom was sliding glass panels. They didn’t quite meet in the middle when shut so there was a small gap. As we were travelling with our teen it was a little inconvenient having to make sure we weren’t in the bedroom when we she used the bathroom so she could have privacy . Panels that shut properly would have made life much easier.

The position is outstanding, incredible views from every window and perfect for storm watching. There is a trail from the hotel and the beach on your doorstep. The rooms are huge and the bathroom was spectacular. The bar was brilliant and the food in there is the best the hotel does.

We visited in the office season (February) so our rooms weren't cleaned, and it definitely didn't feel like they were operating fully. Also, the bar would put out a sign saying open till 10, then close at 9 which was a little disappointing. We also had a fairly lackluster (but expensive) meal in Currents, and would recommend the bar over the restaurant. Finally, the pool is tiny and for dipping only.

So many positives about Black Rock. Located right on the coast. Our room had a wonderful view. The room itself was decorated in a spa-like/relaxing Nordic minimalistic style. Beds are super comfy. Rooms are very sound-proof. Bathrooms are high-class. We had breakfast in the resort's Current restaurant one morning and were very pleased with it. Hotel is close to the Wild Pacific Trail (accessible only a short walk from the resort entrance). We'd definitely stay here again if we have the opportunity to return to Ucluelet.

There isn't an abundance of on-site parking. Two nights when we returned to the hotel at ~9:00, we parked in the last parking space available. I assume the hotel has alternate parking arrangements, if needed. :-)
