a beautiful and charming hotel in the middle of historic Valparaiso. We were very friendly welcomed. The hotel is beautifully decorated, with some links to the former occupant, the English painter Somerscales. The family room we booked was very large, with a beautiful view on the hills of valparaiso. The beds were of high quality, as was the bathroom. breakfast was excellent. If you step out of the hotel you are in the middle of the touristic centre, with many bars and restaurants, amidst many scenic views. The street in which the hotel is situated feels safe and more quite, with free parking space in front of the hotel. Highly recommended!

The hotel is in a lovely location on a quiet street in one of the best neighborhoods in Valparaiso. The view from our top floor terrace was out of this world. And the staff was very helpful and friendly.

The only slight constraint is parking - we rented a car and the hotel reserved a small garage for us so that worked great - but I would definitely recommend early coordination to make sure there is a parking spot available if using a car during the stay.

great reception staff with brilliant recommendations if you choose the room with balcony, a brilliant view of the city at night and when the sea fog clears! very attentive staff and breakfast service make sure you check what days you stay in Valparaiso as Sunday/Monday is very quiet not all restaurants open but staff gave us options. provided secure parking easy to get to most attractions on foot on route 68 a stop off or day trip to Casas del Bosque vineyard is highly recommended.

parking garage is a small garage with tight squeeze lots of stairs but that is Valparaiso!

Lovely property with an interesting history. Walkable to everything we wanted to see including La Sebastiana Museo de Pablo Neruda. Lots of restaurants and cafes really close. The room was nice with lots of natural light. The bed and pillows were comfortable. The fruit, eggs and bread for breakfast were a nice way to start the day. The staff were helpful and approachable.

The only downside was not being able to control the heating in the room.

Good breakfast in Chilean style. Scrambled eggs also offered. Delicious fruit and juices.

Lovely homely hotel with not much to dislike. Tea making available on return in the afternoon. Nice lounge where guests chatted. Only one of the staff was less helpful and begrudgingly would help us . Hector was very helpful at all times and charming with it.

The location in the heart of Valparaiso was perfect. All places of interest were in easy walking distance and there are several restaurants nearby. The hotel has a wonderful terrace and private parking as well. The staff is very friendly and helpful throughout the stay.

Thé location is perfect and we got good sea views on a clear day. The property is a beautiful old period home that has been well maintained. Overall great.

At night there are many nearby dogs that bark all night (not the fault of the property of course!) but the walls are thin and so had to wear ear plugs to get a good sleep.

Amazing colonial building and decor, with beautiful oil paintings by original owner Thomas Somerscales (1842-1927). Great common areas to soak in the colonial vibe. Huge comfortable room. Great location. Friendly staff. Nice breakfast.

The hotel is extremely well located in cerro Alegre. The room was very spacious end the breakfast was perfect. A special note to Hector who hosted us in an amazing way.

Under the sink in our bathroom the pipes were very dirty.

Excellent service from our arrival until our departure. We were met at the entrance of the hotel, and helped with our luggage, shown to our room which was delightful, and with a spectacular view. Charming hotel, welcoming and helpful staff.
