The rooms are large, clean and well-appointed. The grounds are well-kept, and the staff is helpful. Customer service was excellent. Breakfast buffet was great. It was also nice to have the Hot Springs on site, even though this required a drive to get there and access. Additionally it was lovely to be able to visit the waterfalls right on site, and to access Rincon de la Vieja National Park very easily without leaving the property.

The property is very large and there a loads of people both staying there and visiting for day trips and excursions. The "mud bath" was not really what you'd imagine. It was more "touristy" than we were prepared for, but everything was well done as far as that goes!

We loved how well thought out the property is. There is a lot to see and experience and while it’s all on site, it is spread out. So you have the convenience of everything in proximity but it’s not on top of each other. Also there is a sense of authenticity about the place. The culture is very much felt and celebrated. The staff was amazing. So hard working and delightful. The rooms were comfortable and the hammocks and seating areas outside were so relaxing. We loved all the activities and hikes and the close proximity to the Liberia airport.

There is nothing we didn’t enjoy.

The grounds are amazing - enjoyed doing some short hikes by myself and really enjoyed the natural thermal pools. The food was very good too! My room was a very good size and had a nice shower with lovely shower gels provided by the spa. Plenty of eating options too.

I didn’t like the attitude of one of the ladies on reception when I told her the shuttle driver, in hind sight, it was someone who worked with him - told me the last shuttle would pick me up at 4pm but it didn’t until 4.30pm. All in all, it took an hour including waiting time to get back to the hotel. When I told the lady this she said that the drivers do not speak English (I did actually speak English to one driver plus I speak Spanish), then pointed at the times on the shuttle schedule. She was rude. But saying that, another lady at reception and gentleman were very helpful and nice to me.

We spent two weeks travelling around Costa Rica and this hotel was still one of my favourites. The unique selling point is that it is so accessible to nearby attractions, with some being part of their estate and there being a free shuttle service to the national park and hot springs. Hiring a car in CR is very expensive so it was great not having to rely on one for this part of the trip. They also offer numerous activity packages for a reasonable price with more flexible times. Everything else about our stay including the rooms and restaurant were very good value also.

If you don’t have a car then a taxi/shuttle to the hotel is rather expensive. It cost is $120 from Liberia airport at night, and $60 to Liberia downtown in the day.

A perfect escape into the jungle, with many waterfalls close by and access to the national park to explore the volcanos. There's plenty to do without needing a tour (and lots of tour option to choose from too) and the rooms are designed to be relaxing, with your own patio and hammock to enjoy. The food in the restaurants was delicious, a nice blend of Costa Rican cuisine and international dishes. I would highly recommend going to the spa - the experience is magical and the setting for getting a massage is truly a unique experience.

Keep in mind that there is nothing else close by so if you want anything not available on the property then its at least a 30 min drive.

What a plethora of activities on site - waterfalls, hiking, hot springs, and more - I wish I had known to book a longer stay. And its proximity to the Rincon de la Vieja National Park was a great plus. The rooms are spacious and well appointed, and very comfortable. The staff was wonderful - friendly and attentive - and even gave us a lovely anniversary treat. The buffet breakfast had huge selection, served in an airy dining room. You could easily spend a whole week at this resort, comfortable and not bored.

The shower has a modern "rain" head, but with low water pressure it is ineffective in actually cleaning. Being far from other towns, guests are a bit trapped with only the resort's options for food and shopping. A car is a must.

you can spend a week or longer there without leaving the premises - and never get bored. the hacienda is huuuge. you can do horseback riding, go to the mud pools, Oropendola waterfall, go hiking, ziplining, visit the national park. we absolutely loved the twin waterfalls and spent hours there. sometimes we were alone and just listened to the sound of the water falling. On a horseback ride I had a personal guide who explained trees and flowers to me, I saw monkeys... it is nice to sit at the pool with a cool drink after a hot day. but the best was the staff who helped us so much and were really exceptional (thanks again to Pablo) especially when we had a punched tire. suddenly everybody was informed and helping...

the drive there takes a while - and you need a 4x4 SUV, also on the premises. Were not to enthustiastic about the restaurants. sometimes they forgot part of the order (no problem: you could ask again, and they would bring it.), and the food was nothing special in the main restaurant.

The extras make the property! Hot springs are relaxing after a day of hiking or activities. Swimming at the base of Oropendola waterfall was fun. Room had the basics including coffee maker and hairdryer. The buffet breakfast was amazing! so delicious. Had the buffet lunch once as part of a tour and it was delicious too. We did the full day adventure tour and I highly recommend. Horseback riding was kind of short but tubing and zip lining was fabulous.

Only ate dinner there once and both of us had a traditional Costa Rican dish (which we have had numerous other places) and it was my least favorite meal of the entire trip.

I was pleasantly surprised at the number of things to do around the hotel. Four waterfalls, hot springs and a number of activities all with the hotel grounds. A great spot for a family stay. If your there for the mountain biking as I was then the few tracks I tried were fairly easy going. The advanced track was also easy except for one small downhill section which was probably two grades above the rest of the track due to it being a wet stony decent down the hill. The bikes for hire were good quality and came with a repair kit in case you had a puncture along the way, if your doing the courses solo like me. What can I say friendly staff and lots to do.

spacious rooms, very comfortable. Free breakfast buffet was amazing with different options every day. The other meals were good and actually a lot cheaper than I expected. We loved the hot springs and mud baths and went there several times. We also signed up for tubing in the rapids and it was the most fun I've had in years! We went to the El Rincon de la Vieja National Park and hiked. We saw 15-20 spider monkeys playing in the trees. It was a wonder experience.
