Beautiful grounds, security guard at night, clean rooms and beautiful decorations. Room was always clean and comfortable. I missed the bed when we came home. Delicious breakfast made fresh to order. Room had great air conditioning which was a must have with the hot temperature in Costa Rica. Pavel (the hotel manager) was so great at recommending things to do and general great conversation. Swimming in the pool was a pleasure to cool off mid day as there is shade. Unique features in the hotel room and a half outdoor shower was really cool!! Hotel location is a 10 minute walk from the beach with many restaurants along the way. In particular a great Italian place called La Pachanga!

Eugene, as well as the night guard, Francisco, were extremely hospitable and accommodating! He gladly let us use the dryer for our wet clothes & towels, and our 3rd day he was also happy to have housekeeping wash a load of clothes for us. Room was plenty spacious and very clean. Pool is a bit on the smaller side but we loved that the room was right next to it! Awesome little patio as well; we enjoyed sitting outside at night and listening to the rain while reading or catching up on email. Location was just far enough from the main road/strip on the beach that it was perfectly quiet & serene.

Location was a little more removed from the beach than we thought so we didn’t walk anywhere…however, we have 3 kids (youngest 4) so without that caveat we for sure could have walked down to the main area. Seems to be one water heater for entire hotel, so more than once we experienced loss of hot water - but that’s a bit nit-picky since everything else was great!

We really enjoyed this property. It was our base of operations while we were on the pacific coast for a few days of beach and sun. The property was quaint and welcoming with a very intimate feel. The staff was extremely helpful and the price was very reasonable. The property was very close to restaurants and shops. While you can technically walk to Tamarindo central, it was more convenient for us to drive our rental car given we were traveling with young kids. The property is on an un-paved road that is typical of Costa Rica once you get off of main arteries, but sufficiently close so as to not the make the drive difficult. We received complimentary breakfast each day of our stay. It was more than adequate and the staff was adaptable for our kids who tend to be picky eaters. We were able to beach hop from this location with ease. We went to Playa Blanca and Playa Avellanas on the same day. The kids loved the pool, and since the property consisted of only 5 rooms, they often had the pool to themselves. There was always hot water and the internet was solid even with all of us on it at the same time. The decor combined with the flora and fauna made for a peaceful environment.

The beds were a little harder than I like and the pillows didn’t provide adequate support.

Stayed for a week, our room was very spacious, a/c worked with no issue, had a small fridge, coffee machine and coffee. Loved the breakfast (fresh fruit, super tasty coffee (I suggest you to order one bag from Pavel for taking home on your arrival, it takes time to bring it in) eggs, toasted bread, butter, delicious marmalade and Gallo pinto (rice) for the included breakfast. Very much appreciated to Pavel's (owner) hospitality so rated as "Superb". Cute boutique hotel close to the center but away from the noise. 5min walk to the market/restaurants and bars, 10-12 min walk to the beach. Do not forget to book for shuttle bus for airport transfers in advance (pp $25) We went two excursions during our stay - a day trip to Nicaragua (included breakfast and lunch) and full day combo trip (ziplining, horseback riding, river tubing, hot springs included lunch).

We enjoyed talking to Pavel and appreciate his hospitality. He and his family and staff are very helpful and friendly—the perfect hosts. A full Costa Rican breakfast each morning was a great start to our day. The location is close enough to walk to the beach, restaurants and shops, while far enough to be quiet at night. We didn't mind no ocean view, since the courtyard, landscape and decor are so tranquil and beautiful, and we could walk everywhere without a steep climb.

Costa Rica is tropical, so we had to get used to ants and spiders. It's also a developing country, so the plumbing is super sensitive, and the hotel and their supplier ran out of water for a full day. Although our room and beds were comfortable, the pillows could be softer... But no real complaints! Pura vida!

We love everytime we stop by La Ramona, great place, super clean, comfortable beds, nice pool, great breakfast and the most important it's a quiet place but still not far from restaurants and supermarkets.

It's all great

La Ramona is a great spot in Tamarindo if you want to be close to town but not too close. It is quiet and so relaxing and Paolo the owner is laid back but still very attentive to all your needs. The room and outdoor shower were so nice and larger than my wife and I expected. It was a great home base and only 10 minutes walk to the beach and 5 minutes to town, coffee and shops. Loved it!

May not suit people who don't like to walk to work up an appetite.

The property is very well maintained and the rooms are very clean and comfortable. Lush green and flowers surround the pool and we enjoyed sitting on our patio while enjoying a tea. The parking lot was conveniently located i. front of the property. We loved that it was a little bit off the beaten paths. It’s just a 5min walk to the first bars and restaurants and maybe a 12min walk to the beach. It was quiet and very relaxing, but close enough to the hustle and bustle. Pavel and his team took very good care of us Breakfast was delicious!

Our room was spotless! A really nice room with a minimalist vibe. The hotel is tucked away down a dusty backstreet of Tamarindo, but still within a short walk (10 - 15 minutes) to the centre of town and the beach. I'd say it provided a good balance between being away from all the noise and the hustle and bustle of the town, but not being too far out that it was a problem. The pool is only small, so don't expect to be doing laps, but it was nice for a quick dip to cool off after a long day on the beach.

I thought the hotel was expensive for what you get. But then again, from all the places we stayed in Costa Rica, I found Tamarindo to be the poorest in terms of value for money. I was surprised by this, as being a large beachside tourist town with lots of accommodation, I thought the accommodation would be more competitively priced than it was.
