Den Gamle Købmandsgaard was located close to the train station in Ribe, which was great for us, as we were travelling around Denmark by train. We arrived later than we had said, but Johnny was fantastic. A quick phone call and he popped over immediately to greet us, show us around our lovely apartment and explain how breakfast worked. Our apartment had a shower room with toilet and wash hand basin, which was very welcome after our long day travelling. There was a area for relaxing and reading or watching TV and another for eating breakfast or any meals, plus another for working at a desk. It was a beautiful character apartment - just be careful not to bang your head on the sloping ceiling! There was a wonderful, huge double bed in the bedroom, which was super comfortable and we slept so well on it. At breakfast, we met the other guests in the other two bedrooms. There was plenty to eat with rolls, cheese, jams, along with eggs and bacon to cook. It was a shame we had to take our breakfast back into our apartment to eat, but it gave us a bit of privacy and space to plan our day. This is a lovely family run B&B and we met Johnny’s wife and daughter in the morning. They are lovely, friendly hosts, interested in their guests and so happy to help. We wish we could have stayed longer. Ribe is so beautiful and the guesthouse is well situated for exploring the town. Thank you for a lovely stay.

There was nothing we didn’t like about the guesthouse.

There are three rooms. We had the suite which has a separate bedroom, two other separate living/dining/work areas and a small en-suite bathroom. The large bed was comfortable. The windows have vents so that air can flow without letting in too much light at night. There is also a portable fan, which is a nice edition for the summer. Breakfast for each room is placed in the refrigerator in the common area. It is nice as the guests can eat on their own schedule. The bake your own bread was particularly delicious. The WiFi and TV worked well. The location, just on the edge of the city center, is great. It is a very quick walk to all the sights. But the area is very quiet at night. Johnny is a great host.

Everything was great.

The room was of a very good size, almost Iike a living room with sleeping department. We arrived late, but got a nice welcome message from the owner which made us feel very welcome. You have to prepare breakfast yourself, but it is made ready and arranged in a small basket with nice and easy instructions, which we really liked. All in all we were very satisfied and would like to come back - maybe bringing friends or family.

We liked it all very much, but if we have to say something it should be that the bathroom and shower was outside the actual room. It worked absolutely fine and we didn’t have to share it with others, but still had to get out of our room and go through the kitchen area to get there.

We had a charming stay in a historic setting in Den Gamle Købmandsgaard B&B in Ribe. Our cozy room (with the centuries-old wooden mill wheel in the ceiling), friendly owners Johnny (and his daughter, Katja) were so hospitable. The simple yet delicious breakfast made for a delightful experience. I would highly recommend staying with Johnny et al, for exploring Ribe's medieval streets and attractions.

Everything was perfect!

We really liked our first room as it was super bright and really interesting architectural pieces. Both bedroom and bath were a good size. We had to move to accommodate other guests, not anyone’s fault. The next room was very large, but the lighting the bathroom was dull and it was a bit cramped. Overall the place is spotless, the breakfast was perfect, simple but plentiful. You could use the fridge which was a bonus for us and free parking was not far away. We would recommend this B&B.

Location was great and the building had lots of character. There are only 3 units so it was quiet except for loud kids walking by on the street occasionally. Located within easy walking distance to main square, restaurants and shopping.

The rooms are one story up under the rafters so some places in the room were not for tall people.

Very friendly host, decent breakfast and the location is absolutely perfect for day trips! For those who wish to visit Ribe for the Viking Center - be aware that there is a Viking museum, AND a Viking Center - both are at different locations in Ribe! We actually went to the "wrong" museum, but enjoyed ourselves very much nonetheless.

Nice spacious rooms with a seating area and a TV. Comfortable beds and clean bathroom. Breakfast was great!

The bathroom of room 2 was not adjacent to the room. There are only 3 rooms in the B&B, so you can easily cross the hal unseen to go to the bathroom, but if you are very private, this can be an issue. For room 1 and 3 it was adjacent to the room, so it was only an issue for room 2.

The room was nice, very clean, spacious and super quiet at night. The breakfast was good - self-service, but worked well - convenient that both breakfast table and shelf in the fridge were allocated to our specific room number. The location was in walking distance of everything you need to see and experience in Ribe.

Great location near the old centre, we walked everywhere. The room was clean and the bedding and towels smelled freshly laundered. The house is super cute and the owner was super kind and welcoming. Breakfast was nice and they accommodated for my dietary requirement (gluten).
