The Laurels We stayed here one night February 27, but after that night wish it could have been for a longer stay. Paul and Peggy are the best hosts you could hope for. As I booked this stay in May 2022 for the February 2023 stay and in between my booking and the stay the open times of the house have changed they were nice enough to honor the dates of our stay. From the moment of arrival they could not do enough for us. Starting with the complimentary drink and you must book the dinner. It is an excellent meal handcrafted by Peggy from fresh. The room was warm, spacious and comfy. The bathroom was a wee bit tight but it is more than adequate. The house is a little off the beaten path but makes for a very quiet and relaxing stay. I highly recommend staying here if you are anywhere near Limoges. You shant be disappointed.

We stayed with Peggy and Paul for an overnight stop whilst driving to the Dordogne in August. We could not have wished for a more perfect place to stay. We had two rooms (one for our sons and one for us). The rooms were spacious and so comfortable. Paul and Peggy met us on arrival and showed us around their beautiful property and invited us for a complimentary welcome drink. The grounds are breathtaking (we only wished that the weather had been kinder to us to take advantage of the outdoors). On the morning of the day we were due to arrive, we had a message from the hosts asking if we would like to take advantage of a home cooked 4 course meal; we are so pleased we did! Peggy had spent all day cooking (and even catered for the vegetarian within the family) and we have to say, this was the best meal we had during our two weeks in France. Peggy had used ingredients from the garden to produce a most fantastic meal and breakfast was equally as outstanding. We met a lovely couple from Belgium whilst we were there and it was great to swap stories with this delightful couple. If we are in this region again, we would not hesitate to stay here and we are even considering visiting this property again for a relaxing few nights break. We can't thank you enough Peggy & Paul!

It was all perfect

We booked the stay at fairly short notice having been let down earlier in the week by another planned host. We are so glad that this happened, as we were able to enjoy one of the most exceptional overnight stays we've ever had. Firstly, the hosts. Paul and Peggy are truly fantastic and offer a welcome and overall service that is truly incredible. Nothing was ever too much trouble. They took time to chat and get to know us and certainly made us feel like we were good friends. We were made to feel at ease and encouraged to use the pool and relax while Peggy provided ice cream as a treat. They had very kindly offered to provide us with an evening meal as we weren't sure if there was anything nearby and once again they exceeded all expectations with the most amazing cheese salad. Most of the ingredients had come from the garden, which Peggy hand picked that afternoon. After our meal Paul suggested we sit in the garden and enjoy the sunset, whilst handing us very comfortable loungers to relax in. He even gave me a cigar, which made the evening complete. The following morning's breakfast was an equal to the previous evening's meal. Homemade confiture, accompanied by the finest fruit, yoghurt, pastry and coffee. Our room was incredibly spacious located on the whole of the top floor, including the tower. Full of character and very comfortable. As we checked out, we said our goodbyes, but wished we could have stayed longer. There must be a next time surely. Merci beaucoup Paul et Peggy. Vous êtes fantastique!!!!

Nothing, nothing , nothing.

Lovely breakfast,Peggy and Paul were aware that we preferred to sit by ourselves at breakfast(without us asking),they set us a nice table with a view.Had a special meal on the first night cooked by our hosts, there is a good selection of wine on offer at reasonable prices.P and P are extremely helpful and accommodating without being over the top---will be going back next year .

The breakfast was lovely and plentiful . The service impeccable and the attention to detail spot on. There was a choice of eggs and nothing was too much trouble. There was also the ability to have a set evening meal which we took. Wow! What a fantastic cook Peggy is. We had an amazing 4 course dinner. Everything was very well cooked and presented and it was delicious. I can't have dairy and Peggy made sure my dinner was dairy free whilst still having the same dinner as everyone else. There was also an excellent wine menu to accompany the meal. Paul was the perfect front of house and explained each course as it was served. Les Lauriers itself is a beautiful property, lovely gardens and pool and the little touches of seating dotted about and places to sit and relax were very well thought out. The rooms are spacious and well appointed and we loved it. Paul and Peggy clearly love what they do and that shows in the way the greet and treat their guests. We arrived as strangers and left knowing we have made friends who we will return to see and keep in touch with and we would recommend anyone to stay here.

What can we say about Peggy and Paul..... they are just the most wonderful hosts, they looked after us with generosity and warmth but also gave us space to enjoy their lovely gardens and pool. They recommended a local restaurant in Bellac (the riverside of which is delightfully pretty) where we had a great meal - returning to Les Lauriers to enjoy a glass of local wine and watch the sun go down in the garden - perfect :) The house is beautiful and the location soooo tranquil. Thank-you Peggy and Paul - we will be back :)

Everything was lovely!

Peggy and Paul were absolutely fantastic hosts. They were so welcoming and could not do enough for us. Peggy cooked us a meal one night on the terrace and it was absolutely amazing. The property is simply stunning, as is the view. We would highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a quiet and relaxing few days away.

Nothing really. You probably need a car if you're staying there more than a couple of days (as there aren't many local taxis or public transport) but other than that no complaints at all.

The location was excellent and the property just oozed charm. Peggy and Paul were prefect hosts as nothing was too much trouble. The food made by Peggy was outstanding and more than worth the cost. The welcome drinks, mints, toiletries and eye masks in the rooms were all unexpected extras and very welcome. Will definitely be returning.

Nothing at all.

Both Paul and Peggy were exceptional hosts - down to earth couple who we would love to have as friends. They offered us dinner before we arrived, and we are so happy that we accepted it because it truly was an outstanding dinner! We dined outside and were glad to have Paul and Peggy join us for after dinner drinks. A great value for dinner, room and breakfast! We highly recommend the place.

Really nothing not to like. The room is a bit small, but it's France. It had everything you needed, and a full size living room on first floor to use at your disposal.

Paul & Peggy were fantastic, they made us feel right at home, they could not have done anymore for us, starting with a complimentary drink, my wife is a vegetarian and Peggy cooked the most amazing meal for her, they could not have done anymore than they did, we met as strangers but left as friends, the whole experience was amazing, could not recommend our stay any higher, 1st class from start to finish, highly recommend this chateau
