This is somewhere that is so good we would recommend going out of your way to experience it. We booked to stay here for the last night of our holiday prior to taking the LeTunnel the following morning Our hopes were for a comfortable bed and breakfast. What we we enjoyed was so much more than that. As the charming owners Antoine and Anne Soazig opened the front door for us, we walked into a ‘Boutique Hotel’ with fabulous large rooms, stylish furniture and art, much of it French antique. All beautifully curated. Just as engaging as the interior was the welcome. So lovely and really helpful in pointing us in the right direction for a really good place to eat in the old town, just a few minutes walk away. Our huge stylish bedroom was on the third floor and with one of the most comfortable beds were have ever slept on. We woke up for a homemade breakfast made by our hosts and truly special. Home made jams, home made cakes, home made juice. And plenty of it. Usually the last night of our French holiday is spent at a perfectly adequate ‘chain’ hotel before we catch a ferry or head for the tunnel. By then our mind has moved on from our holiday, we are already in ‘home’ mode Staying at Le Belle Boulonaise was a totally different experience. It added extra night to ‘our ‘holiday’ And next time we will stay for longer

wish we had booked to stay longer

A very nice house, monumental style. The hosts are very friendly. The beds were very good and everything was clean. The private toilet was just outside the room. Breakfast was ok, bio products, croissanrlts, bread, different tastes of homemade jam and cheeses and even pancakes. We were asked what we would like to drink. We got coffee and two fruit juices. The nice historical center is just in front of the house. There is a lounge room where you van sit and take some coffee or tea for free, which we appreciated.

I did not dare to turn the light on in the toilet as I thought I could be seen through the window from the outside, though there was a curtain. No big problem, but I think I would change that window in some way to make the lower window not transparent anymore. No garden or terrace to sit outside. There is however a kind of park on the other side of the road.

We only stayed for one night but would have happily stayed longer. The room was comfortable, the bed and shower amazing and all throughly clean. The owners were kind enough to stay up for our late arrival at 11pm and nothing seemed to be too much trouble. The chocolate cake for breakfast was a highlight for our 4yr old and the pastries a welcome first day of holiday treat! It’s so convenient from Calais, only 25mins, so will happily come again next time we’re in France.

The breakfast was excellent with home made products. It was served in a very elegant room. There was a lot of attention to detail and the hosts were willing to accommodate requests for extra coffee , juice, pancakes etc. They were very friendly and helpful and spoke English well but were happy to encourage you to speak French. The rooms were so elegant and beautiful and all the windows opened and the curtains provided good blackout. It is ideally located for the old town and parking was easy.

Nothing really. Please don't be put off by the outside appearance of the building . Inside it is beautiful and very clean.

This fabulous house has been beautifully restored by the current owners who are charming and made us feel very welcome. Our room was spacious and exceptionally clean; the breakfast was plentiful and of a high standard with delicious homemade jams. The old town of Boulogne-sur-Mer is right across the road and a short walk takes you to the port where we had an excellent evening meal in a great restaurant. We only stayed one night on our way back to Calais but would love to return for a longer stay and to explore the area more.

There was nothing to dislike!

A truly wonderful experience as soon as the owner opens the front door and invites you back to genuine mid-1800 to early 1900's luxury. The owners have done a good jobb of retaining beautiful period interiors and furnishing throughout the common areas and the rooms. The only really noticeble "intrusions" are modern and fresh bathrooms and, of course, electricity and wifi. Not least important for a hotel, the bed was very comfortable. In the morning a final pleasure was the quality of the excellent breakfast provided in the fine dining room. The owners take obvous pride in choosing high quality local or home made cheeses, jams, juices and breads, and presenting everything in a very appealing way with china and cutlery matching the period of the rest of the furnishing. Homemade crêpes, good coffee and a handwritten note completed the effect.

Possibly only that the period sofas in the common areas would need a careful restauration of their cushions to restore their earlier comfort.

The house is just beautiful and furnished in high quality shabby chic style. The beds were really comfy and we had everything we could ever need. The hosts are available at all times and really helpful. They are passionate about their region and very knowledgeable. Nothing is too much trouble. The breakfast is magnificent and everything is home made including the cakes and jams, includes local cheeses and varies everyday. It is simply marvellous! Parking is freely available outside or in the free car park nearby. It's very central too so you can walk to the old fortified city or the city centre in a few minutes. No TV in the place but that's no bad thing. There's good WiFi, games, books in French and English, and even a pool table. Recommended!

One very minus point... the two long flights of stairs! But that just reflects my lack of fitness and that's not the house's fault :-)

Amazing townhouse right next to the entrance into the walled old town. Plenty of free parking on the road or in the big carpark adjacent. This is a beautiful home to stay in with a great host who goes the extra mile to make your stay special - home made jams and local cheeses at breakfast, a lounge downstairs with tea making facilities and a full sized billiard table. Just wonderful.

Leaving!

Beautiful period property. Lovely large bedroom and comfy bed. Sizeable ensuite/shower with an amazing view over the town and bay. Friendly and helpful hosts. Fabulous continental breakfast in the dining room - croissants and home made jams were gorgeous. Parking right out the front was free during our stay but normally would have to park and pay a few meters down the road.

Absolutely nothing to dislike at this wonderful family run period property.

Fantastic stay, absolutely beautiful house, right opposite the walled town. The owner was so hospitable and friendly, and took real care to ensure our short stay was comfortable and we had everything we needed. The breakfast was wonderful, set in a beautiful traditional room, with home made jams, local cheeses, fresh bread and croissants. Antoine had even gone to the trouble of sourcing gluten free bread for me and had made a homemade gluten free chocolate cake! It was such a treat to stay somewhere so much more personal than your average chain hotel.

Very little not to like. It was January, and the bathroom was very chilly underfoot - but we totally understood that there was very little that could be done in such an old house!
