Tucked almost under the eaves of Chartres Cathedral it puts you in the heart of the old city. Do see the cathedral, in particular the carvings around the back of the choir. Like nothing I've seen before. Ah, the venue: from our window, you looked into the courtyard of what used to be a seminary and, if you were minded, could imagine yourself back in about 1600. From other windows a great view of the city - at night some of the other illuminated churches that were part of the 20th year of Chartres en lumières (https://www.chartres.fr/chartres-en-lumieres). Close to restaurants, shops, chocolate (always important). Staff was friendly and helpful. Oh, and a great rate. Maybe about half of what I would have expected to pay. They do offer breakfast, but we went out and roamed around. Found a great place, and there were lots of options.

Not that we didn't like it, but it is basic. Clean, everything you need, and no fuss. So if you're not drawn to marble, silk sheets, and lots of staff running around, then this is for you.

This is an enormous convent, albeit with few sisters in evidence. Guests are cared for by two young sisters, who are charming. Guests are asked to help. eg do their own washing up. Delightful and completely unexpected and novel. The newly created bedrooms are big, very simple and entirely adequate. Excellent plumbing, which puts many hotels in the shade. Its position close to the cathedral is fantastic. Note that the convent itself covers two huge buildings on separated sites. The guest rooms are in one. The 'reception' is in the other, beside the rear entrance to the Palais de Justice.

Absolutely terrific location, within 300 metres of the huge and historic cathedral, with its amazing original stained glass. Brilliant view from on high, right across Chartres. Lovely Old building. Excellent breakfast (paid as extra). Friendly, French but English-speaking staff. Good directions for how to ring police to get bollard on street below lowered to access the car park right next the hotel, but helpful French people nearby helped us both times without us asking! Despite Brexit!! Lots of fine shops and restaurants near the Cathedral. Brilliant Son et Lumiere (Sound and Light show) on the cathedral most of the year.

Can't think of anything!! Even the weather was warm and wonderful, both nights we stayed. Room had what we needed, shower OK size but rest of bathroom very small.

Hotelerie St.Yves was a nice basic place to stay. It is a no frills place one block from the Chartres Cathedral. Our room had 2 twin beds, 2 nightstands and 2 chairs and a desk/table, with a spacious bathroom. For us it was just fine for one night. They were kind enough the next day, to hold our suitcases after checking out, until late in the day when we would be leaving the area. We loved the Cathedral and walking the nearby area.

This hotel is upfront that it is very basic and no frills. It is located so close to the Cathedral. The staff is kind, friendly and helpful. Nothing here not to like!

Very peaceful and comfortable hotel and the location is perfect. Nothing fancy, just a delightful, peaceful stay in a beautiful historical building very close to Chartres Cathedral. The beds are very comfortable and the environment is relaxing. A good breakfast is available and it is one of the cleanest places I have ever stayed in. I rarely visit the same hotel twice, but I have been here before and plan to return

I have nothing to complain about. It is a simple, value for money, clean place to stay. Being English, I missed my morning cup of tea in the room-but I can bring a kettle next time if I want. Don't worry, English people, there is decent tea available in the breakfast room.

Location first of all was fantastic – up a side street leading onto the Cathedral square. So really a tiny walk to the Cathedral. It very much feels like a monastery with fan-vaulted corridors, and the rooms are simple but clean and modern. I arrived late in the day and the concierge was very friendly and helpful. He was fine with allowing me to leave my car until 3pm the next day to allow for sightseeing without having to repark elsewhere in town. A very peaceful yet central spot. Breakfast was self-serve but the pastries and coffee very good.

I honestly can't think of anything. Perhaps I could have done with an extra blanket because it was cool at night, but I am sure I could have had one had I asked!

This hotel is in a lovely location next to the cathedral. The rooms are simply furnished but adequate. There is no tv unless you book a room with a tv. The double bed is simply 2 singles pushed together. Breakfast is always good. There has always been parking available when we have stayed.. Access to the hotel is a bit tricky. You have to pass by a bollard and request access and then the bollard will drop down. We arrived about 8 in the evening but this was not a problem having pre-warned the hotel. The wifi is good. Great restaurants available nearby.

The most awkward thing is actually getting to the hotel. A satnav will take you to the bottom of a long flight of stairs. the trick is to heed the directions that the hotel gives you.

This hotel is perfectly located, right in the centre of the cathedral area of town, which is very nice and has plenty of bars and restaurants. The receptionist was very helpful, the room was very recently renovated and spotless. Being an old building, the bedroom had lovely high ceilings and period features, which was nice in comparison to modern hotels. Considering the price of the room, this is a no brainer in terms of where to stay if in Chartres. I'd highly recommend it.

Driving map supplied by hotel shows yellow and red routes. Unfortunately took the yellow route which ended in roadworks and dead end. Took ages and much frustration after a long drive to retrace our steps and take the red route. Hotel need to issue corect map as clearly the roadworks etc have been going on a long time. Bathroom very cramped. Shower tight and head not adjustable due to defect but ok for one night.

Room was well maintained, though spare, as you would expect. The building is fascinating.

My room faced the courtyard. At night I like to have the window open. At 5:45 am there was enormous noise as some one was leaving- very noisy, continuous clattering sound — like wheeled bags on rough ground. Even with the windows closed the sound penetrated. After conversations and door slamming, the people left and I was able to get to keep.
