We have stayed here a number of times. We love sitting by the river at the bottom of the garden. Dinner was good on both nights. Breakfast was good with fresh croissants, an orange juicer for making your own fresh juice and a pancake maker if you so wished.

It was very warm and the beds were fully made up with duvets and thick bedcovers. All that was really required was a sheet. There is no air conditioning and the electric fan provided does not do anything.

Good location as we were on the road towards Spain, so it was nice not to have to make a big detour. I liked the old-world style of the building with stunning views. The bed was super comfortable too, and the staff very friendly.

It was a bit of a shame that there was nothing to eat or drink after 21.00 which is a very normal time if you are not living the French small village lifestyle yourself. We don't like the gas station restaurants a d were looking forward to a nice dinner, but it is clearly not a place for international time frames. So if they want to attract international customers (or make them happy) that could be a point to improve. The smell of hand sanitizer/ detergent in the stairways was also a bit much...

Ignore the outside and that our room overlooked the carpark.  The other side of the hotel overlooks the river, the bridge and a beautiful garden. There is a terrace on this side of the hotel where meals are served. For dinner, we went for the Alfred Renoleau option which is good value. 1pm check-in is a bonus and parking is plentiful.  Staff are friendly and helpful. We got some walks for the local area from the Tourist Office across the square from the hotel. The Sentier de la prairie de Goué - a 4.2 km walk - is worth doing. Our bathroom had a shaving mirror.

We came across this hotel by chance and the website said it was 2 star but on arrival and during the stay it felt more like 4 star. The dinner and breakfast were amazing and the room was fabulous. We had a quadruple room on two floors. The gardens by the river were gorgeous. It massively exceeded our expectations.

There could have been a lift. It was quite hard to get up the stairs with our heavy cases.

Breakfast and dinner were really good - excellent quality and value for money. The hotel setting is unique my room looked across the gardens towards the river and bridge a unique spot - dinner on the verandah was spot on a real fine!

Must admit struggled a bit getting up the stairs to 2nd floor - must get back in shape.....

Breakfast was great, plenty of choice. Location of hotel was excellent. Close to major road for convenience but not noisy. The view from the hotel to the gardens and river was beautiful. The staff were all absolutely lovely.

The room was a little small but not really a problem. Nice to have a balcony. The hotel is not very attractive and looks out of place in its location.

A beautiful hotel with beautiful gardens overlooking the very pretty Charente river. Good size room, excellent shower. Very comfortable bed. The dining room was very tasteful. We really enjoyed our evening meal on the terrace overlooking the garden and river. The food was delicious. The staff were all very pleasant, friendly and helpful.

Quaint French family run hotel, greeted by Mum and all the family who could not do enough for you. Lovely clean bedroom, with shutters and little balcony overlooking the beautiful hotel garden and Charente river. Cold buffet breakfast, plenty of choice from freshly squeezed orange juice, fruit, cereal, yoghurt, fresh bread, croissants, ham and cheese.

Not a complaint but no hot cooked breakfast, however considering Covid restrictions, the breakfast provided was delicious and fresh.

A brilliant find. Booked from the motorway, arrived pretty late. Staff couldn't do enough for us. Excellent food, fantastic value...Will definitely stay again. Amazing gardens and location.

Nothing to fault...you're in a French rural hotel so adjust accordingly...it's not dubaii...its much much better!

it;s in a great spot with wonderful gardens running down to the lazy Charente. the walking around there is terrific —- skimming frog, swimming beaver and flitting skylark just on our one walk yesterday evening. the food is great too!

the restaurant was very busy at dinner, with a large party as well as a full restaurant. service was VERY slow. I think they were just understaffed.
