I booked 2 rooms for 4 nights for a friend and I to visit the D Day beaches and museums etc. Reviews were very mixed but this was our experience. Checked in by the Manager/owner efficiently on arrival, I speak some French but he spoke good English as did all the staff we met. 2 first floor sea front double en suite shower rooms were tired and in need of decoration BUT were clean, comfy bed, good working shower. Towels changed, ensuite cleaned and bed made every day. We had €9 euro breakfast twice, good value - hot drinks, juice pasties, bread, meats, cheese, yoghurt, cereals etc. We ate in the hotel twice, food was very enjoyable and as good as we had anywhere else. It is quite busy and the others we spoke with enjoyed their meals. Location excellent for Brittany Ferryport and our beaches adventure, car park opposite hotel, couple of other restaurant/bars adjacent. 10/15 minute walk to the main town high street. All staff were friendly, efficient and English speaking. Wi Fi was good downstairs but intermittent in both our rooms. For what we paid (£75 prpn) it was acceptable value and I would stay there again.

Friendly welcome, to an old building, by Madame. Stairs to our first floor airy, very clean bedroom and bathroom, adjacent to the canal and ferry port. Excellent meals over two nights, payable to the restaurant as under separate ownership to the hotel. Breakfast in the morning was typique and good. Excellent stopover for those visiting the British memorial at Vers-sur-Mer, the other Memorials and landing beaches, Pegasus Bridge and of course the Bayeux Tapestry. Would readily stay again.

Car parking is in the main well lit square adjacent, so slightly conscious that it was not immediately outside, however within 20 metres of hotel. Good value for money, and the port noise does cease by midnight, restarting around 7 am. Not fussed by that at all.

This hotel is ideal for those, like us, arriving by ferry, especially late evening. Literally just a minute drive from customs to the hotel door. We have used it several times for this reason. Parking is immediately outside the hotel. The rooms are basic but comfortable. The self-service breakfast is very good as is the food in the restaurant.

We stayed here overnight on arrival in France and again before our return ferry trip home. Unfortunately on our first stay the shower was incredibly slow. On our second overnight stay the wifi was not available in our room although it worked in the reception area. We were told the wifi provider is in the process of being changed.

A comfortable nights stay after a late crossing and before a drive south to our French home. We requested adjacent rooms, late arrival and breakfast for the party of 3 and all requests were accommodated with good communication. The staff were welcoming and efficient both on arrival and next day at breakfast. The rooms were of a good size and the beds comfortable. The hotel is obviously redecorating some rooms as one room newly decorated and one in need of redecoration but this did not detract from the stay. Everything worked as it should including the showerr which was easy to use. Breakfast was as expected with fresh bread and croissants with cereal, meats and cheeses. Check in and out was easy. Although on the main road to the port we were not disturbed by traffic noise although the occupants of the next room were noisy but not the hotels fault. We had stayed at the hotel some years ago and the experience this time was much improved and we would stay again.

Hotel was easy to find and there was free parking available close to the Hotel (ask the staff - the parking just outside is limited). The room was very clean and large and had a great view of the ferry port and lighthouse. The bed was very comfy and it was very quiet at night. The bar/restaurant on-site was very good and the food was of a really good standard. There were also other bars and restaurants nearby - much better than those in the town centre. The free WIFI worked very well.

Our stay at the Hotel was very good and we would stay again if we were in the area.

A comfortable nights stay as before. This is now our to go place to stay overnight before the journey to the middle of France. The room and shower room had everything needed for overnight and the bed was comfortable. Breakfast was good value and the hotel have taken notice of previous comments about the breakfast area being crowded and moved the area to give more space. The staff were friendly and reassuring when we phoned to say we would be late as immigration was taking ages! We look forward to staying again on our way back.

Excellent stop over before getting the early ferry. Hotel is within view of the checkin for Brittany ferry to Portsmouth, less than 5min drive. Basic double comfortable with en suite, and excellent value. Just time to have a quick buffet breakfast at 7am and easily reach ferry checkin before 7.45am. Evening meal at the restaurant was tasty and also good value. Local seafood very good. Lots of parking nearby free 7pm to 9am.

Parking cost in municipal car park opposite hotel quite pricey. Free, I think, nearer the port

Le Phare is an excellent good value option if you're booked on the 08:30 ferry to Portsmouth and don't fancy an early start and long drive. It's only five minutes from the port and there are plenty of restaurants nearby for a pleasant meal. I've stayed here before and will do so again. If there are no parking spaces by the hotel, alternative car parks are close by.

It's an old fashioned small town hotel and rooms are a little dated and battered but I would imagine most people only stay for a night and that's fine. The front door is locked at 21:00 so you mustn't lose your access code.

Great position for the ferry, set in the centre of the port, with lots of choice of bars and restaurants to walk to easily. Good, very nearby parking also. Staff were great, so helpful with problems, and service was excellent and always with a smile, went the extra mile for us. Food was good too, lots of choice. Comfortable beds, lovely clean and well laundered bedding and towels, reasonably quiet considering it was close to the port. Bathroom area (toilet, bath and basin very clean).Bar and restaurant area were modern and well decorated, clean and tidy. Great staff at reception , bar and restaurant, who mostly spoke excellent English. Staff were very efficient, serving us quickly with a smile. There was a new Italian waiter who had only been working there a couple of days and he went out of his way to give us great service in the restaurant and bar area. He was very courteous and polite and spoke to us in excellent English.

The hotel area was very shabby with a refurbishment needed almost everywhere. Paint was peeling off the walls, ceiling and woodwork, flooring and carpets were very tatty, old and dirty. It felt sticky to walk on. Furniture and fittings were tired, tatty and very old fashioned (way past shabby-chic). Everywhere would benefit from a complete restoration and new carpets/flooring fitted at the very least. The staff were well aware of the problems and did move our friends to a different room that at least was cleaner. The staff acknowledged the problem and acted fast to support us.

Literally opposite the ferry terminal, making it so easy for that. Public car park opposite as well. We only had evening and overnight there and car parking charges in effect until 7pm only. The room was very comfortable, including the beds, which were lush! The town of Ouisterham is so quaint. Not industrialised by the port at all from the small area we saw. Plenty of bars and restaurants to choose from and very pleasant.

The hotel room we had just needed a little cosmetic touch up with the decoration here and there.
