We loved the fantastic views down to the sea, the beautiful and tasteful decor of the reception areas, wonderful pool area and very friendly and helpful new owners. The owners take huge pride in their hotel and are always available and keen to help, including helping us carry our luggage to our room, and finding safe storage for our bikes. We were also impressed that our room was cleaned every day. The immediate area is very handy, with a local supermarket, boulangerie and brasserie. We barely used our car - we walked every day and evening into Villefranche-sur-mer (you get very fit as it's hundreds of steps!) and also did an early morning walk to Cap Ferat. We drove one evening to Nice to walk along the Promenade des Anglais and watch the sunset - wonderful.

We had a problem with blocked pipes under the shower in our room which caused a very unpleasant odour during our stay. The owners tried their best to fix it, but no plumber was available until the end of our stay. The room was not the one we expected and there was very limited room for storage. However, it did work well with our teenage children as they had separate beds in a separate area. The new owners have tastefully decorated the rooms as best they can, and have plans to make further improvements to the rooms.

We had a wonderful stay at this lovely boutique hotel. Our room was very spacious and comfortable. The owners are very nice, friendly, hard working and extremely helpful. The self service buffet style breakfast was excellent value for money and was absolutely fantastic, with everything you could want available to start the day. We loved having breakfast on the balcony and found the sea view stunning. We were even served fresh bananas from the garden one morning. Absolutely fabulous! There is also a small pool and hot tub available for use and board games in the bar area. The town was so quaint, with a nice harbour and beach area to enjoy the sun. There are also lots of very nice restaurants to choose from.

It is quite hilly around the area, but we enjoyed getting our steps up each day and felt better for walking down and up again from the beach.

The walk to the town but Uber isn’t much around tenner. We got there and asked if they were serving food and they were not until the evening. Went to the shop for some crisps and took them to the pool and they were not impressed at all. Fair enough but we had no idea as other guests were eating and there was no sign. We would have happily ate at the hotel but there wasn’t food at that time.

We checked in for a one night stay in the the hotel for a stay in Villefranche-sur-mer prior to our return back to the uk. Emilie was a perfect host and treated so well on our arrival. The Breakfast in the hotel the morning after was superb with choice of continental breakfast being excellent along with home made treats and cakes that added to the personal touch this hotel provides. The facilities and views are great from the location.

The hotel is quite high up so you need to be fit enough to tackle the 700 steps down to the front of Villefranche-sur-mer on foot, it is fine if you have a car and taxi's and ubers are in plentiful supply. We did not have a car for the final day so we did a bit of both walking and using ubers to get around and worked out fine.

This hotel is just wonderful! I'm so grateful we were able to stay here during our first trip to the French Riviera. The location is PERFECT for getting around for day trips. The rooms are very current and comfortable, and the pool and hot tub are A+ with great views toward the sea. The breakfast is prepared by the owners and very tasty! Great variety. Be sure to include breakfast with your stay and you won't be disappointed.

Truly, my only complaint I had was that there wasn't a restaurant on site, but the lovely owners are in the planning process of making this happen at a future date! It's a great space ready to accommodate a restaurant/dinner option. And, there's a great brasserie just two blocks away with a wonderful menu and vibe - we ate there twice during our stay!

The hotel was in a very nice and scenic location and run by a lovely and helpful family. The location is convenient and is right on a number of bus routes, including a local bus down to the main town of Villefranche-sur-mer. The rooms were clean, comfortable and spacious and came with blackout shutters to ensure a good night's sleep away from heat and noise. The breakfast buffet option was great and eating on the terrace gave fantastic views of Villefranche-sur-mer and Cap-Ferrat. The hotel's pool and jacuzzi facilities were also lovely and afforded us a great opportunity to relax before and after our days exploring. Would highly recommend!

Our 4 person room was clean, spacious and comfortable with a beautiful sea view. There were some nice touches like sweets, tea and coffee. The beds were very comfortable too! There was no noise at night so we all slept well. It was wonderful eating breakfast on the terrace in the sun each day. The food was very good quality: a good selection of pastries, bread, fruit, eggs etc and the coffees were delicious. It was also great to have the bar for pre and post dinner drinks. The pool area was clean and spacious and there were always enough loungers for our group of 4. Location-wise, there was a supermarket and boulangerie a short walk away which was handy. Emilie was very welcoming and always ready to help - thank you for having us!

Although we could walk to the supermarket and bakery, it was a 25-30 min walk into the main town which could be a little far for older people/ kids. We made use of some of the local buses but mainly used Uber which was easy enough to get in high season.

Just returned from the most amazing stay at Hôtel la Fiancée du Pirate in Villefranche. It’s in a fantastic hill top location, so the views down towards Villefranche and the sea are stunning. Émilie and Hugues are incredible hosts, we felt so welcome from the moment we arrived and nothing was too much trouble. In fact after just four short days, we so wished we could’ve stayed longer, it felt like we were saying goodbye to two old friends. The hotel itself is beautiful with large rooms and is exceptionally clean. It also has a lovely pool, which was just what we needed after a long, very hot day spent in nearby Monaco. Lastly, the breakfasts were really delicious and varied and included a selection of gorgeous, home made cakes and pastries. Everything about this hotel was exceptional, we wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it and we can’t wait to go back.

Everything was perfect.

First of all WOW for the location and the breathtaking scenery. 5 stars for location and service. The owners are amazing hosts and always so helpful and accommodating, we were traveling with our 2 year old daughter and decided to stay a day at the hotel as it was more convenient with the little one. The owner made our daughter pasta and prepared tapas and dinner for us which was amazing flavors and beyond sweet. This is a place I highly recommend in the south of France where you still feel like you home with great service and not pretentious at all. Merci Emily and husband. We will be back.

The hosts are very friendly. The breakfast is excellent and freshly prepared. The pool was clean and the hot tub was excellent. The A/C in the room exceeded expectations and was better then many other hotel. The beds are good, comfy and very solid. So good food, very friendly staff and all expectations were met. Our dog was also pleased with his stay and the attention he got.

There are some little things around the property that need attention. But the owners are aware and in the process of remodeling the whole hotel.
