Sabrina, the owner, is a pure joy to come across. The passion and care she puts into running this family hotel are astonishing and her smile is contageous. The hotel is extremely well maintained, clean, has a lovely garden, and offers tasty breakfast. Room size was rather large for a single room with two windows, and there was a mini fridge. Sabrina also lent me a water heater. The location is good too, about 25 minutes walk from the main train station.

The wifi signal in my room was a bit weak.

Residenz Joop is located in a beautiful villa area, at walking distance from the center of Magdeburg. We were travelling with our dog and made a pre-arrangement with the hotel to take our four-legged friend with us, which was absolutely no problem. Public parking in the streets near the hotel was generally not a problem (however, don´t forget the mandatory green badge for the applicable low emission zone). We would highly recommend Residenz Joop for a stay in Magdeburg.

Everything was perfect.

The hotel is beautiful, very comfortable and with good location. Breakfast is very good and the staff is very friendly, even though some of the staff dont speak fluent English.

My room had a very poor internet connection so it was not good for working because the connection was very slow and falling every time, which is a clear indication of long distance from the router, because in the other parts of the hotel it worked perfectly.

Extremely helpful, personable, and easy to chat with. - Spacious, bright room, perfect for a solo traveller. - Potentially the comfiest bed I have ever slept in. - Lovely and quiet. - The shower was mega powerful. - Room was absolutely immaculate.

Two very tiny niggles, which are just me being fussy. - Needs more plug sockets in the room, especially one near the bed if it's possible. - A full length mirror would have been fabulous.

Really well run property, beautiful interior in a high class traditional style. It seems that the management selects staff really carefully as everyone I interacted with was exceptionally friendly and concerned about me but in a very personal way. I really liked the fruit salad for breakfast - the pineapple grape kiwi salad was all fresh and a very welcome change from the usual hotel breakfast fare! I also found the absence of keys (all doors operate with PINs) very convenient.

Two minor points: internet in my room was so weak that my mobile couldn't find the network, and by the time I had breakfast the choices were a bit limited (there were several empty baskets/plates). I am all for limiting waste but maybe the hotel then could provide a menu so that guests could request particular items that they still would like to have - or maybe even submit an "order form" the night before (as it is done by Swiss Air in business class on long-haul flights).

Hotel in a villa area in Magdeburg. The nice lady at the reception showed us where we could store our bikes (in the garage). We had two identical small rooms, quite cosy. The beds were just hard enough. Breakfast was quite standard - with a choice of cold and hot food. If you are travelling by bike - perfect place to stop in Magdeburg, the city centre is on your doorstep.

Tidy, small hotel in a quiet, nice area, in the walking distance to the city centre. Light room, comfortable bed, enough space in the room. Breakfast rather basic but in a nice dining room.

The hotel is very old-stylish. Staff was rather rough in contact, not showing welcoming atmosphere.

An excellent, old-fashioned (in the best sense) hotel, with large, comfortable rooms and friendly staff. Being Germany, everything was of high quality and everything worked. A good breakfast buffet.

That we only stayed two nights (due to our plans).

We love the environment. Quiet. Clean. Friendly staff. Good location. Close to the centre.We booked for one night but we end up staying there for two nights.

We love everything except we cannot find a kettle in the room. However, it's not that much problem.

Very friendly staff. Parking on the street very easy as alternative to public transport.
