One of the two rooms we booked was very big and with nice furniture. The bathroom was huge but downstairs, something to consider in case the guests have mobility issues. The location is great and the area is very quiet at night.

The communication with the staff was great until we arrived there. After we checked in, it has been difficult to reach them and get information about breakfast.

Truly exceptional. Beautifully renovated historic house. All the finishes and even the crockery is of the best quality. The location above the stream with trees and birds is delightful. I only score 10 when a place is exceptional and I would happily score 11! The breakfast was great including my first teapot in 3 weeks of travel. It was wonderful. Do not hesitate. We had room 1 right at water level and if the bed had been less comfy I would have listened to the water all night. Great bathroom and shower too. Minibar costs were low and great tea and coffee facilities were included and in the room with lovely glasses provided too.

Receptionist had some attitude and gave no welcome but all the staff at breakfast were lovely. We didn't stay long enough!

The wonderful friendly helpful staff. Offered me free breakfasts and gave me a cake, little bottle of sekt and a little present because they noticed it was my birthday, which I was spending on my own. Weather was very cold but room was perfectly warm and comfortable. I liked the quirky decor - my bed was shaped like a boat. Location, etc etc were all as described, spotlessly clean too.

The info said that the apartment was all on one floor. Mine (no7) had a flight of stairs down to the bathroom. Not a problem for me, but they should make it clear that this one is not suitable for people with mobility issues. The kitchen was fine for making toast and coffee, but it would be a challenge to cook a meal in it (and I have cooked full dinners in a caravan.) Plenty of excellent restaurants nearby tho.

We had one of the apartments that the Hotel rents and was able to purchase breakfast for 10 Euros per person. The breakfast was a typical German breakfast with delicious breads and meats. There was also made-to-order eggs available. The location could not be beat and the roominess of the apartment was far beyond what we expected to find in Europe. When I return to Ulm, I will definitely stay at the Schmales Haus.

I found nothing that was lacking.

If you want to be right in the centre of the Altstadt (old town) and want to stay in and around centuries old buildings this is definitely the place for you. It was the most gorgeous and unique accommodation I’ve stayed in. We didn’t stay in the actual Schmales Haus but around the back directly facing the famous Leaning house. Breakfast was had on the second floor in the the old Schmales Haus. The room we had was immaculate with a kitchenette and a separate lounge area. The bathroom was lovely and modern and everything was very clean. The location is amazing, close to the centre, the town wall and the river. The staff were super friendly and very accommodating. I highly recommend this place.

The beds were a bit hard and the pillows not so good.

Everything! But a word of caution for travellers who wish to stay in a boutique hotel located in a historical building: Do not expect an elevator, and note that the shower will not accommodate sumo wrestlers........ it has great water pressure though and is really hot :-)

The chair at the desk wasn't particularly suitable for working on my computer.....but I didn't have to do much of that anyway.

The staff was exceptional. The person who was at the desk went above and beyond to help us get situated. The location was perfect!

We were in a very large and lovely apartment but there was no elevator and we had to climb 50 steps (lovely spiral staircase) and there was no air conditioning. There was also no parking and the closest parking lot was a distance from the property. That said, we would go back to this hotel and request a room that was accessible with luggage.

Breakfast was superb, I loved it even had little pots of fresh fruit salad, plus fruit and everything you can imagine,and all fresh. The bubbling water outside my window and the cooing of pigeons, it was a beautiful room. I want to come back to this hotel.

Oh when I first arrived I went to the Hotel Schiefes Haus and the reception was superb, so when I went to this hotel, I was disappointed with the staff, however this was because of the warm welcome in the other hotel probably not because they were not nice.

We stayed in Apartment 7 located a short distance from the hotel. It was a lovely setting with canals on either side of the property. The apartment was spacious and very comfortable. It was appreciated that coffee pods and milk were supplied. It was also appreciated that the apartment was serviced three times during our week long stay. Restaurants are located close by and the Ulm Munster is just a short walk away. A great location when visiting Ulm.

Unfortunately the bathroom is on a lower level accessed by a stairway, however, I did realise this when I booked. Parking is in a park house a short walk away and this can be expensive at times.

Lovely, historic building oozing with charm and next to river. Slept with window open and the gentle sound of water drifts you off to sleep. Nice parquet flooring in room, easy check-in and friendly receptionist. Spotlessly clean. Two public car parks are not far away at all although the one at the Rathaus is slightly more spacious. Overnight tariff is really good and inexpensive. As of Jan 23, between 19h - 9h next morning costs only €4.50.
