The view is incredible, the nature around the place is beautiful and potent, ideal if you want to discover the country side Staff is helpful and welcoming Pool is nice Room is comfy and bathroom is big

I didn’t realize when booking that the place would be so away from everything (at least a 20-30 min ride if you want to go to a village different that the one down the hotel) I would avoid this place if you want to enjoy Cretan beaches as it’s at least a 40 min ride But mostly the road accessing to the hotel is very rough. It is suitable for any car but driving super slow.

My daughter and I loved our stay. It is in a beautiful location in the mountains surrounded by lots of plants and wildlife (as well as the friendly and welcoming farm cats and dog). Sabine and all the staff were on hand to help with all our requests in a calm and kind way. My daughter loved having some riding lessons and a trek. The food was wonderful and accommodation was in wooden chalets which we loved. Hope to return again soon.

We booked here because we wanted peace and quiet for a couple of days. This hotel delivers that in spades. Spectacular views, helpful personal, good, plentiful food, breakfast with a view, comfortable bed. Despite the undulating paths my husband with his reduced mobility managed it all. There was an offer of a golf cart and the personal were always on hand to offer help if we needed it. I saw the drive up the track as a prelude for what was to come, it slowed everything down. Whilst it looks scary when you first drive onto it, take a deep breath, it is in fact easy going as long as you go slow.....what a great way to start a much needed holiday. 😊

Could do with more signage when reaching the hotel. Where to park/check in. Proximity of stables.

This is a great country hotel but very remote. The room was spacious and very comfortable. The pool is lovely as is the home-cooked food in the restaurant. We enjoyed looking round the large stables but didn't have time to do any riding.

The dirt road from Avdou is about 2 miles long and very rough in places. We were concerned about our hire car but the owner assured us that many other Fiat Pandas have made it safely!

It was so wonderful to get out of the oppressive heat of the Cretan coast. The hotel lies at around 350m above sea level on the slope of a mountain. The air is notably fresher up there. The view from the restaurant and the terrace of our room were amazing. We had a beautiful room with a very comfortable bed. The pool area was great. The dinner at the restaurant was delicious.

such a gorgeous property and hidden gem in Crete. away from all the hustle and bustle with everything at your fingertips available at the property so you can just unwind and relax. my husband and I have been travelling around Europe for past few months and Velani was exactly what we needed to relax. the room was stunning with picturesque views, hot tub spa and expert masonry craftsmanship. the best place we have stayed at by far. the owners will make you feel welcome and treat you like family. thank you Manolis for your hospitality and going above and beyond for us.

The hotel, the people, the food, the horses - absolutely everything to top notch and Sabina and Manolis went above and beyond for us on our stay. Loved every moment of it. Will definitely be back!

Stunning place to stay, the rooms were lovely with everything we needed. The restaurant is excellent with very friendly and welcoming staff, reasonably priced as well and very good food We stayed with our dogs and there are lots of walks from the hotel. Will definitely revisit

This is such an amazing place, one of the best place we've stayed during our visit to Crete. We are beyond surprised and had a great time, the food was excellent and the staff was all friendly and warm. The cave was worth the walk. Thank you for having us and making our holiday so memorable.
