Douskos Port House is a fabulous, homely and welcoming boutique hotel with picture perfect views directly over the idyllic harbour at Hydra. The accommodation is spacious, serene, stylish and very clean with all the amenities one could wish for. A short climb up the intimate characterful stairway leads to the rooms and further up to a glorious rooftop garden & terrace with spectacular views. Vasileo, the hotel manager, is the perfect host, welcoming, friendly, very attentive but also discreet, utterly charming and nothing was too much trouble, a perfect gentleman.

Honestly, there is nothing not to like about this property - it is exquisitely charming and delightful

Excellent room, breakfast and location! Fotini and Nikos were wonderful and last but not least, Vasileios, our hotel manager was exceptional, a real asset for this hotel, meeting all our needs and making our stay better than we could ever expect!

This is truly an exceptional place to stay in a fantastic location in one of the prettiest harbours we have seen in the whole of Greece. Everything about the place is wonderful, including the incredibly helpful Vasileo. Thanks again Vasileo, for the fab bottle of wine on my birthday which was consumed on the roof terrace overlooking the boats in the harbour. Probably the most memorable of birthdays (and there have been plenty of them!). A day, and amazing three day stay, that will remain in our memory for many years. Don't even think about staying anywhere else!

Difficult to be objectively critical about anything when everything is just about as perfect as it could be. But for anyone with mobility problems access is up a steep flight of steps and might be an issue. And there is a club nearby that might be a bit noisy at weekends. But without doubt the pluses of the Port House make these disadvantages of little consequence.

Location was excellent. On the main street overlooking the port. We would open the shutters & face the window to watch the ships every morning & night. The manager, Julietta, went above & beyond to make us comfortable. Was hands on every day. Visited the guests daily at breakfast time on the lovely rooftop to inquire if we were satisfied with everything. They are fortunate to have someone like her. The breakfast was also great with plenty of choices from the bkfst menu

It was a great stay with a small exception of loud music from the Cafe below, but the manager spoke to the Cafe owner & they lowered the volume for the remainder of our stay.

Fantastic location, charming old building with great views of the port from the roof terrace. The 30+ steps to get there add to the fun and adventure but could be difficult for some.

Breakfast is served too late - starts at 9am. With the Summer sun and heat it was very uncomfortable too eat breakfast on the roof terrace. Consider starting breakfast at 7am in the Summer months. Also, the breakfast choices should include more fresh, local fruits and vegetables. In terms of the “lounge area”, we were told we could make tea or coffee there but there were no cups, no coffee maker, no tea and no coffee. It would add a lot to the experience for a very little investment to have tea/coffee/small snacks available in the area.

We loved our week at Douskas Port House. The manager Vasileo was very helpful and friendly, and the accommodation was comfortable and clean. Breakfast on the roof terrace was excellent, cooked to order, and served by very lovely Olga - and the views over the port from the terrace are exceptional.

Very little to dislike!

The location immediately overlooking the port was excellent. Breakfast on the balcony every morning was most pleasurable. The staff were all friendly particularly Juliette who manages the check in - she was very willing to take the time to impart her local knowledge on arrival which was very useful for our short stay.

Not much not to like - obviously the stairs up to the accommodation that have been mentioned in many of the other reviews. Certainly not a showstopper but something to be aware of for people with mobility issues - this can be overcome by hiring a porter as you get off the nearby ferry. Other thing to note is that not all of the rooms come with a port view so be careful when booking if that is what you want.

Excellent location. Room still smelling new. We were at the suite over the harbor. In the first 10 steps of many... :) Breakfast with a fantastic view from a roof top to the harbor. Very good quality and quantity. Difficult access for some due to the number of steps. Amazing staff with a special word for Julieta always available to help us and give good suggestions. Genuine customer orientation. Provided a late check out until the time of departure of the boat.

The only thing missing was a way to dry the bathing suits and the beach shoes. There was no way to hang them outside. Not suitable for people with difficult mobility. Too many steps.

It is right on the waterfront and it has one of the few rooftop breakfast/drinking areas in Hydra

The hotel is located in the port area. Our room had an awesome view of the port. There was also a rooftop area where we had breakfast. The breakfast was great and the view from there was amazing. I believe the rooftop area could be accessed during the day. We were only on Hydra overnight so we were not able take advantage of that. Next time we will definitely stay more than 1 night. The staff was also very helpful with beach and restaurant recommendations.

Just like most places in Greece, there were numerous steps to climb to enter the hotel.
